  1. I got lit up in here for even mentioning that we didn’t do anything to address the lineup (this was just after the deadline). I didn’t even bother arguing. Had a hunch the results would speak for me eventually, and sadly, they have.

  2. Nobody should be surprised by what Harris does or doesn’t do. You could watch the Orioles do the same thing when they were winning. Top prospects untouchable.

And then ironically enough, the Orioles did make Kyle Stowers available, and look what happened.

I’m sure Harris has nightmares of trading Jung or Hao-Yu Lee or Max Anderson and they become stars somewhere else, while he has to absorb some multi-year deal for a guy who gets injured.

  3. Naylor is doing a lot of heavy lifting for that duo. Suarez, despite 13 homers, is batting below .200 and striking out 1.5 times per game since the trade. This sub would be killing him.

  4. Yeah it wasn’t good but my god this team clearly needs more work than a few additions.

This was never our year, more people need to come to grips with that.

  5. Just wait and see, gotta see if Naylor actually shows up in the playoffs for an entire run

  6. Tbf, the Mariners unloaded for a run. In the short terms it’s been great, but that’s the expectation. Let’s see how they are the next few years.

  7. Saw the same thing happen with the Detroit Red Wings. Everyone was supportive for a couple years but because they aren’t going to the playoffs/dominating every year – like they were from the 90s until the teens, the support has become timid/impatient.

Tigers got hot last year and with that came high expectations – especially with Skubby being a Cy Young calibre pitcher. The Lions after two years of Campbell/Holmes basically became a SB contender so not only is there the residual effects of the Red Wings legacy, but also a current legacy being formed by the Lions, both of which I believe are hindering Red Wings and Tigers fans from seeing the reality.

    The reality?
Tigers and Red Wings are a young, up and coming team that is currently figuring out its identity and what they want to be.
I think Harris understood that they needed to be rewarded for their hard work/MLB record but not to swing for the fences (pun intended).
Notice how everyone is already looking forward to next year? That was what Harris was curating, my opinion.

I think this year would be a great development year as they are figuring out that hero ball isnt conducive to playoff aspirations. It showcases the reality of what this team lacks and where they need to improve. Keeping the young studs away means that Harris wants these guys to figure it out so that next year when the young guys come in they are enamoured by a healthy, competitive and small ball style team.

The future is very bright in Detroit (all teams).

  8. Mariners talking like they did any better is rich. Not defending Scott Harris but outside of Naylor, who did the mariners trade for thats any good?
