The Canucks have an absolute STAR in the making….
All right, so another preseason game is in the books. The Vancouver Conucks have taken it over the Seattle Kraken 4-2. And thank God they did because the Canucks had a ton more of their regulars in than the Kraken did. Give credit to them. They played a pretty good game. And in that first period, the Kraken were buzzing despite having a pretty young team, but the Vancouver Conucks eventually took over as the game went on, as they should, and they got the job done. Braden Coot scores his first goal in this preseason campaign. And to be honest with you, KZ has looked good all throughout preseason. Heading into camp, I didn’t think there was much of an opportunity for him to actually make the team. I thought they were just putting him in simply to gain some experience. And personally, I’m not one that likes to see players get rushed into the NHL, especially if they’re not 100% ready. And I’m still skeptical because we have such a good prospect on our hands in Braden Coots. He’s only 18 years old. I don’t know if it’s the right decision to play him in the NHL right away, but he really hasn’t given the coaches or the management any reason to take him off the team and reassign him to the Abbottzford Canucks or the Seattle Thunderbirds. I am getting excited here. I do think I have to pump the brakes. This was a pretty weak Seattle Kraken roster. I think Coots deserves to stay at least until the end of training camp to see how he fares against much better NHL rosters once teams start to stack themselves up as we get closer and closer to the regular season because let’s be honest, it’s a much different game when teams are playing their full NHL rosters. But that being said, don’t take anything away from the young guys. Coots and Leaki were two of the most exciting Canucks on the ice today. Evander Kane was also very good to compliment them on that line. He also had himself a goal tonight. Let’s go through the game in full though. Starting off with the first period of play. The first period actually wasn’t so great for the Canucks. They were missing some passes. Their timing was a little bit off. The Kraken got on the board first. It’s Johnny Newman with another goal. And I got to give him credit. This guy Newman, young player, 21 years old, has looked very good, and I expect them to be one to watch in this year’s regular season. Anyways, after that goal, the Canucks start to get their feet back, get a lot of chances, but Matt Murray is actually playing pretty good, robbing the likes of Hughes, Person, and even Leer Mackey here on this spinning wrist. Regardless, the Canucks are generating good chances. You love to see that. On the other end, it’s Kevin Lankin who’s making saves to keep the game a one- nothing score late in the first period and even early in the second. But then in the second period, it’s the Vancouver Conucks who really start to step on the gas. Heronic hits the crossbar and then Evander Kane sends a nice dish over to Person who gets robbed at the doorstep. After that, the Kraken get one of their first chances the second and they score on it to make it a two nothing game. The Canucks answer right back though. It’s the young guys on the team. Leer Mackey with a nice shot. Tips off of Braden Coots and he nets in his first career preseason goal to put his team within one. Leer Mackey right after that pounces on a loose puck. Goes in on a breakaway almost digs by Matt Murray but he can’t raise it high enough. That would have been a very nice goal. Moving forward now though to the third period of play early on as Jake Rusk who spins one on goal. It bounces out towards the blue line where Phil Heronic is there to fire it in. Good to see him utilizing his cannon like he was a couple of seasons ago. Ties the game up at two. The Canucks get a power play after that and they don’t score on it. But look at how well they’re moving the puck, generating a lot of chances. Penderson was looking really good. Everyone was having chances but Matt Murray shut the door. where the Canucks get another power play right after though and this time they finally break through with a goal from Jake De Brusk who pokes it by Matt Murray propels the Conucks into the lead after that it’s Elias Person who absolutely ragdoll as Tai Cartier him and Victor Mancini have to be my favorite Canucks right now anyways after that it’s dying minutes the Seattle Kraken pole their goalie but it’s a Vander Kane who buries one on the empty cage to make it 4-2 and wins it for the Vancouver Conucks they have their next game against the Edmonton Oilers on Sunday night. So stay tuned for that. I will be covering it. It’s going to be a fun game. Thank you for watching this one. Give me your thoughts in the comment section down below. The Vancouver Canucks take it over the Seattle Kraken in preseason NHL action 4-2. Braeden Cootes and Jonathan Lekkerimaki shine with Evander Kane who also made his Canucks debut. All three had points and could we see Cootes make the team straight out of camp? Elias Pettersson also looked good today, promising signs from number 40.

No offence to him but willander definitely isn’t ready for NHL Éthier
Hey @DeanerHD, we're getting excited for the upcoming season!
I also really liked that play when Petey faked the one timer to boeser for a solid shot
Hell yeah, keep em’ coming Deaner!
Kraken beat the Oilers at home. Canucks beat Kraken at their own home. Last year the Abbotsford Canucks took the home Oilers to a shootout in the preseason. Will be interesting to see how it goes this time. A lot of incentive to beat them since they made the finals twice in a row
Maybe give him a few games if he continues to impress, but i would not risk it
I couldn't watch the entire game but EP40 looked way more dangerous. Wanting to shoot more, making cross-ice passes, screening the goalie right in front of the net, etc. Great to see!
Lekky looked far more dangerous. Atu Raty has the 4 C spot. The Canucks have to use their players to either trade them or play them. 18 year old kids very rarely belong in the NHL.
Mancini likes Linguini!!!
Cootes was one of The Best players yesterday. Absolutely no reason to send him down unless he starts to have bad games
I don't want to hear anything about "Petey looks good in the preseason!" Canuck fans are so cringe.
Cootes wasn't just one of the best prospects on the Canucks, he was the best player on the ice. Can't recall a pick of theirs this ready for the nhl at 18. Responsible on defense, assertive on offense, forecheck beast, no way you send him down.
Just a question???when we drafted Quinn did we send him down 🤨 …..what a great decision that was 😅
He is not physically ready for the whole season, that being said him starting on the roster and then going back to Seattle after a few games wouldn't be bad. He should be playing on the world Junoirs this year, that should really help his development.
I thought Petey looked good. Hopefully he gets a nice start to the season and can ride some momentum. He's more prone to the ebbs and flows of confidence than any player I've ever seen, but at his best he can really be a force.
Let's not get carried away.
The game started, I thought, oh great here we go again.
But just like Footer said, wants them to be adaptable. Thats exactly what they did.
Lots to like about this game.
I think lekkerimaki is a star too
We love Cooter.
If this is the type of offence we are looking for every night then this season will be so much better than last years tocchet hockey
