Richard Sherman TAKES JAB at ex-Seahawks teammate Russell Wilson after Giants benching

When you look at this Russell Wilson situation, Tony, how he says he’s got a lot more football left in him. He’s going to say all the right things. Do you think we’ve seen the last of Russell Wilson? Honestly, I hope we have. And I say that because I just looking at him and his career, his legacy, like you talked about. If ever there was somebody who played himself out of a Hall of Fame, it’s Russell Wilson. And I say that because look at what he’s what’s happened ever since he left Seattle. When he was in Seattle, he was the man. He was making these good plays. He won a Super, went to two of them. But as soon as he left there, he went to Denver, signed that big old deal. They paid him $39 million to leave. He goes to Pittsburgh, stays there one year. He’s out of there. Now he goes here and has three games. I just don’t know if it’s going to get any better. And I don’t want to see him on a sideline holding a clipboard. Uh so you’re very much under the what have you done for me lately thing in and taking away the first, you know, decade of his career. I absolutely. And I just don’t think he’s done himself any favor since he left Seattle. And and I don’t how’s it going to get better? I don’t know. Yeah, I agree. I I agree. I I think you got to judge his career off when the Legion of Boom was there. He had a legendary defense, an all-time defense, and how much success he had. And then without that legendary defense, the success he had without that legendary defense, he’s been 4 and 11, seven and eight, 0 and three to start with the Giants. Like that’s he was a winning football player in Seattle and people said, “Hey, winning is football player, all this good stuff, all these accolades and now you get to go on your own and you get to prove, hey, I’m this great quarterback. I’m this guy that’s going to be dominant.” And it just hasn’t worked out that way.

Former Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman and legendary tight end Tony Gonzalez debated on Russell Wilson’s Hall-of-Fame status on the Amazon Prime broadcast during halftime of the Seahawks’ 23-20 win over the Cardinals on “Thursday Night Football,” with both saying that it could be in jeopardy based on his performance since leaving Seattle after the 2021 season.

  1. As someone from Seattle, Sherman seems 100% correct. All of Russ's teammates feel this way about him if you watch interview and he has reputation in Seattle of being fake. He was pretty good, but the defense made him great. He couldn't get back to the NFC championship without the Legion of Boom and Marshawn and he's seems to be a bad teammate based on all evidence.

  2. Sherman was maybe the 5th best player on that defense. I’ve always thought he benefited more than anyone from the reputation of the defense, to the point that people thought he was better than he actually was.

  3. Russ was only good as a complimentary QB not a volume passer. 2020 started great but quickly went downhill and Pete was forced to pull the plug on "Let Russ Cook" because he couldn't stop throwing picks and fumbling the ball. Started losing games. When we forced him to play a complimentary role again, we started winning again. Russ has always been overrated

  4. I love Sherm but he’s way oversimplifying. Russell won plenty in Seattle after the LOB retired as well. You can credit Pete Carroll and the culture he built, it it wasn’t just good defenses. Russell’s age and mobility is now a factor too.

  5. If he criticized Russ, fair game, he's been awful for this tail end of his career. Saying "all time defense" and "legendary defense" multiple times is so weird and corny.

  6. Yes the Seahawks had a great defense. However one of the main reasons why the defense was so great was because of the ball control offense that Russell Wilson ran. They would take 13 minutes to score a touchdown. The opponent can't score points against your defense if the they're not on the field.

  7. Lmao Sherman is such a clown man. Dudes the only reason you have a Super Bowl. Idc what anyone says Russ is still a hof qb. Saying the last 3 years takes that away from him is ridiculous

  8. Sherm lame for this, we know the lob had a huge impact in Seattle’s success but let’s not act like Russ wasn’t holding up his end of the bargain as well. He made a lot of plays on his own.

  9. Sherman told skip bayless he was better than him because he had a masters In Communications. Lmao. He was on komonews drunk kicking down his father in laws door down. Now he’s hating on Russ on the way out. Some cats never got the love from their parents or in life somewhere along the way.

  10. What a complete piece of sh*t. I’ve been an avid Seahawk fan for 40 years. I’m all types of familiar with Sherman’s big mouth. This isn’t the first time he’s gone off on an RW tangent. He’s a drunk driving, domestic violence, DEI Stanford grad who friggin lucky AF to be playing across from guys like Browner and Earl and around Ban Bam of course. Those guys would’ve gone anywhere and elevated the DBs. Sherman was poop after he left Seattle. Complete trash and he’s a poor excuse for a teammate, nobody likes this two faced punk. Fringe clout chaser. Stay of RW’s jock sucka.

  11. Just wait until tomorrow's game and everybody will start singing another song. Most people think that he is the reason for his recent teams to fail, and truth is that he is not-simply there is not enough talent around him to play with and now coaches started making excuses using him for excuses of their incapacity to turn it around. Keep an eye on Steelers and Broncos. Have they become better without him? I do not think so.

  12. Love it how he putting it on the d when they had a great offense and russ carried them and rich should just keep pushing it russ suxs now but he was great

  13. He had statistical success without the Legion of Boom. Sherman always makes the same point. The whole team was different after you left. Russ deserves some credit. He's still a Hall of Famer, maybe not first ballot he'll probably get there before Sherman 😂

  14. Sherman takes any chance to diss Russ. I understood at the beginning when all that drama in Denver was happening but now its so corny. LoB was part of the reason why they won a ring, they stopped Manning. The 2nd SB run credit Wilson. If it werent for Russ, Rodgers and the Packers wouldve been in the Superbowl. "LoB" couldnt stop Rodgers. Dont get me started on the Superbowl. That loss isnt only on Russ and Caroll. LoB did noting to stop Brady and Co.

  15. I love Russ but Marshawn Lynch and that defense carried that team. They had to keep giving him the ball back for all those slow ass starts. Some of y'all just don't like Sherm but he's not the only Hawk player to say these things. If you can't play from the pocket and you no longer have escapability you're cooked
