Tigers vs. Red Sox Game Highlights (9/27/25) | MLB Highlights

A late inning gut punch by the Red Sox secured their postseason fate and now comes down to the final two games of the season for the Tigers to learn theirs a win today and they too will find themselves with an October invitation. Connelly early one on 11, 88 a making his fourth major league start. Young man’s just 23. He’s only made three starts major league but, and he’s been really impressive. Jemi Jones to lead off today’s game for the Tigers. Jemiah one for two game yesterday with a double drove in a pair, two. I drive base hit in the left because it’s what JIA Jones does hitting righties and lefties. But man, what a weapon he is in that leadoff spot, leadoff man aboard for glare swing and a Miss got him great curveball from early. There’s one away, 10 for four yesterday with a walk. He has struggled at the plate over the last couple of weeks. One on one out, 12 swing and a Miss got him with a great curveball early, has a couple of punch outs and they’re two down for spencer to pop this one up catcher under it and makes the catch and the side is retired Tigers. Get a leadoff man on, can’t do anything with them. We head to the bottom of the first no score. Starting pitcher cater Montero. It’s been an up and down year but on any given day, the stuff can be really impressive, better life and velocity on the fastball. His last really two of his last three outings. Here’s the 02 check swing. He went, Hamilton could not hold up on the appeal. They ring him up and Montero’s got his first strikeout of the ball game. Got him a swinging strike three went around on a slider down and away for the movement on that slider was filthy. 12 got him swinging strike three ker three strikeouts in the first inning. That one was on the changeup. We head to the second, no score in the green to lead off this scoreless contest early back to work strike three called beautiful sweeper on the inside corner. Moore great sequences from early punched out three and there are two gone since the leadoff single early has set down five straight hitters and it brings up and a swing and a miss strike three picked up four strikeouts in two innings bottom of second and get a big hand as he climbs in his third walk off the float that one to center and drop it for keep that going. That’s a leadoff hit and with one down here’s carlos Narvaez rips one on the ground into right field. That’s a base hits will take the turn at second and hold two on one out for the Red Sox was a pinch runner last night for start of the series. Right field. Perez backing up to get under, makes the play. Sean will tag and advance to third and stop there with two down 1st and 3rd with two down. So guard on other teams, nick, so guard would play 162 games. He’s versatile. He’s gutsy. Give you quality at bats. We’re going to shot up the middle in the center field. That’s a base hits on scores over the third for the Tigers. It’s one nothing Boston. That’s tough, little tough luck for Cater Montero. That pitch was up and in jam so didn’t hit it all that hard and not only that, it hits off of Montero’s glove here. Now, another guy who’s right there with him trying to be a part of this thing, David Hamilton swing and a liner in the you, a leaping superman shallow left his back to the infield and AJ reeled it in. That’s unbelievable partner. Saved the run. Got the Tigers out of the inning. I’m telling you right now, Tigers win this ballgame. That’s going to be an inflection point. What a play by J sometimes it takes superhuman effort to try to make it to the postseason. So a single to short center Nathaniel Lowe and he’s on base snaps a string of five in a row set down by Montero got him swinging strike three and another filthy slider away strike out for he has got a filthy one today, but he’s throwing the ball very well right now. Two pitch got him swinging strike three or Montero. Six strikeouts in four innings of work. He is dialed in. Connolly early gave up a single to Jamai Jones to lead off the game. 12 up, 12 down since. And there’s one away for Dylan Dingler rockets one out to left Yoshida going back. He has to play off the wall. Dingler will round first and he will hold with a long single, had two good swings against a little fly into right and it’s gonna drop and Dillon Dingler gets over to third charged hard with two outs. Dingler was on the move and the Tigers have runners at the corners for Parker Meadows needed one to nestle in there. Three and oh, on Parker Meadows two on two out fifth inning. The pitch Meadows ball four away. And that will load up the bases full of Tigers for the top. And Jai Jones has been hitting lefties as good as anybody in baseball right now. Big numbers all year for Jemiah Jones roped into left field base , hit Tingler scores. Here comes the throw to the plate. Not in time in the second base goes. Jamiah Jones he pumps his fist at the Tigers dugout and the Tigers take a 2 to 1 lead on the Red Sox here in the fifth inning. He’s clutch right now. He’s clutch. Need a big hit. Got a guy for that. His name’s Jammi Jones. Steps up there with confidence drives the ball to left field. That’ll make the dugout way more relaxed. Dan, a very good day for Cater Montero struggled in the second since Then. He’s retired seven of the last eight. Got him. Beauty of a curveball. Seventh strikeout for Monteiro of his day and that was four and one third innings of terrific work for Montero is on the mound. This is a significant outing for him out of the bullpen. He’s got to show some consistency to two, poked out to right a base hit for We Perez just served it out there on a fastball down and away at 99. He’s on first base with nobody out here. The sixth inning spencer Torkelson zero for two to is popped to the catcher grounded out sharply to eat at third 12. He swung on the miss. He got him. That’s a good slider that’s encouraging for toy big pitch one away and there’s one gone for Riley Green comebacker to, to he snares it throws to second for one really the first two double play and that’s not the at bat they wanted from Riley Green at all. And that is stuff from to and it proves he can get a great lefty. Andrew Bailey and alex Cora laughing about it in the dugout Peyton to, that’s a good one for you. Bring you today singled in the first, flew to left in the third. Struck out looking in the fifth. Got it swinging. Strike three sweeper down and away. That sweeper that starts on the plate just keeps working its way away from, you can go out on your front foot as far as you want, but you still run out of bat hit in the air right field, long run for one Perez and he slides and makes the catch on the track bounces up and says, let’s go two down. You know, he’s fired up right now. Love it. Hanging on to every single pitch two away. If that gets down, it’s a problem. It’s a big problem off the mound. Baez throw to Torkelson and got him and that sends this game into the top of the night. Tigers are three outs away from getting back to the postseason. Nice trip to the plate for Dillon discipline. A two out walk in the ninth inning. And you have been saying, Andy Bar is, he’s got a walk but he’s due for a big hit off the glove of a lunging and that save perhaps a run if he doesn’t deflect it to the stands, that’s in the corner sharp single though for Ibรกรฑez to put a couple of men on and if he can come up with something here and give a little bit of separation , might be just what the Tigers need to put this one away tonight. There are two on and two out 97 to strike him out. Two left Red Sox coming up bottom of the ninth. And now a guy who had his best outing of the entire second half striking out the side in Cleveland to seal the win two days ago, takes them out will jam ground the one pitch one out. Ninth inning. Here’s Nathaniel Lowe left handed hitter at the plate one for three in the game swing and a miss got him two down and the Tigers are in out of way. Everybody in that tiger dugout over the top rail two out ninth inning vest against Carlos Narvaez. It has been a tough road in the month of September for the Detroit Tigers and they are an out away from a return trip, a ground ball to and the Detroit Tigers are headed postseason for the second consecutive year. That’s been tough sledding over the past couple of weeks, but the Tigers come to Fenway Park and they get it done tonight and they are headed back to the dance one more win than last year. And incredibly, after all that has gone on, they still have a chance to win the central division and be home on Tuesday.

  1. I knew this would happen, they won a playoff berth and rested half their lineup. Duran, Story, Bregman and Gonzalez all rested for this game. Probably do the same tomorrow or something similar.

  2. Some might say that the playoffs is what the tigers need to wake them up, but these last few games have been playoff games but they dwindled away the division. You'd think if they were tough enough for the playoffs they'd be tough enough to hold on to the division lead especially after having a huge lead in the division at the beginning of this month like they did. I don't think it's going to matter who they play or where they play, I think they're going to get swept because they're just a bad baseball team and they've played under 500 for the last 100 games or so. They're too streaky and not reliable. They rely too much on emotion to play at a high level and not their skill because they lack it. That is why when they lose two or three games in a row they get down on themselves and get in a losing rut. Great teams know how to bounce back from losses and play at a high level consistently. The proof is in the pudding as they say.

  3. Congratulations men ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ,but โ€œphewโ€ you guys had us sweating bullets! Letโ€™s bring the first postseason game back HOME ๐Ÿ !

  4. Do the Redsox want to play NY? Toronto? or Cleveland?
    Answer: read between the lines:
Bases juiced, two out in the 5th. 2 runs already in.
ROOKIE Early looks to be out of gas.

Cora has nobody warming up. NOBODY.The fact Bregman, Story and Romy were sitting this one out tells me the Sox were NOT playing for the 2nd WC.

I truly hope they meet Cleveland on Sept. 30th. They match up better against them.
