Now that Ingram has cleared waivers, would you still like to see the Oilers acquire him?
I do think there is an angle for the Oilers that they want Stuart Skinner to be their starting goalie this year. Agreed. They don’t want to wave Calvin Pickard because they recognize how important he is in the room. Agreed. If you’re Utah right now, you have Connor Ingram sitting in your minor leagues at $1.1 million or sorry, yeah, and sorry, $800,000 of dead money, we’ll call it, cuz you can only bury 1.1 mil of it. Yeah. And he’s actually costing you 1.9 million still of hard dollars that your owner needs to pay. And I know their owners are very rich, but still it’s $1.9 million that you need to pay and 800k in dead cap space. For the Oilers to afford a $1.8 million goalie, one picker goes on waiverss, but it’s an extra $800,000. That’s, you know, an extra player. That’s an extra body being up on your roster. I don’t think they’d want to do that. If you go to Utah though and say, “Hey, why don’t you retain $800,000 now? Same dead cap hit, but you’re out of paying the real dollars.” And then for the Oilers, he’s the same cap hit as Calvin Pickard when you eventually bring him up. If you would have claimed him on waiverss, he’s on your NHL roster at 1.8 million and you need to put either him or Calvin Pickard on waiverss at the start of the season and risk losing one. Now you can go the route of acquiring him. Remember they did this with Clim Cost and Demetri Samurikov. Since he’s already cleared, you can acquire him and he can go right down to Bakersfield and start the season in Bakersfield. You can get them retained. So when the time comes that you need to make that Pickered swap, it’s the same dollars. Million down, million up. You can bury all of Pickerard’s salary in the miners. You can bury all 1 million of Ingram salary in the minors.

Yes we want him. More goalies is better. $800k is nothing for the chance to get a real NHL starter. I know it’s a slim chance but we need insurance.

That's under the assumption that Ingram has a solid season in Bakersfield. If he isn't up to Oilers standards then it's a waste of money.
How do you even know Ingram is of good sound mind and shape to even play. These guys chomping at the bit for Ingram. If EDM makes a goalie move you’d think they would want a real goalie upgrade and right now I’d say Pickard is better than Skinner and has been for awhile.
