Cardinals vs. Cubs Game Highlights (9/27/25) | MLB Highlights

Just came down. Kate Horton will be placed on the 15 day. Il Jim Du’s right rib fracture, devastating news for the Cubs, devastating news for the Cubs, devastating news for Kate Horton as well. Nothing had been announced but he was the odds on favorite to be the game one starter in that wild card series. Obviously, that will not be the case. It will be next man up. Jamison will make his 23rd start at his, er, a at 3.78 and he’s put together another really nice year. Be interesting to see what council does now with Ty in today’s ball game. You know, is this more of a tune up for playoff pitching now to start? And he takes ball four, had the plate but low. Ty thought it was strike three but New Bar with a leadoff walk. There’s a pop up right side off the bat of herrera playable for Michael Bush. He’s got the shades on in foul ground and Burleson thanks with a man aboard. And what out in the year left field half shading his eyes and Ian has it and will stay at first and there’s two down Nolan zero for three yesterday 11. Homers 51 ribbies for him to the cap in left center that’s going to get down half, cuts it off on to third base. Lars Nar 1st and 3rd 2 down for Nolan Gorman. 32 swing and a miss struck him out. Cardinals don’t score after a half inning, Saint Louis. Nothing. And the Cubs coming up, Michael mcgreevy, a right hander. We’ve seen him twice this year run, Michael Bush leads it off for the Cubs. No score. Bush drives one in the air deep right field. Back. Walker near the fence that fell gone, Michael Bush, a first pitch home run his 33rd of the year and the first pitch, a Cubs player sees gets whacked into the bleachers busy with a big start to this game against Saint Louis. Michael Bush has put together a really, really good year, a swing and there’s a high fly ball deep down the line in the left field corner. New Bar makes the play on the track about 3 ft away from the Ivy. Very nice play. Just missed back to back home. You know, I don’t know if you remember, let’s remind you, we flash back to August 19 game one of the double header against the Brewers and this guy, he brings his laptop to the game. What’s he doing? Is he on his lap top? What chad with prices back folks and we are here with them Chadwick, I got to ask, what were you doing on your laptop that day? Yeah. So the, uh, the game on Monday night got canceled. Um, and so the next day we were , like, can we go? There were four of us, um, and two of us couldn’t go because of , uh, work and stuff. But I was like, hey, I can swing it luckily remotely. I, I don’t, I work semi totally and, uh, I’m fortunate enough to have a job that I can work in the office or at home on my laptop. And so I thought, hey, I can swing it, brought the laptop in and uh I trade oil futures. So there was an economic number during that time. So that’s kind of why I had it out at that time and deadline. It’s like a number right at, right at 330. That kind of affects the markets a little bit. But uh yeah, that’s why I had my laptop out and they just caught me at the right time for that for that 30 30 minutes or whatever. And up comes Jordan Walker. Oh, you go. Here’s your gold glover in second, an absolute web gem by ego Horner. Here’s Petro Armstrong. He made cub history yesterday. The first man in the history of their franchise with a 30 30 30 season line drive base hit into right field. Suzuki will stop at second and Pete with a single in his first at bat in a single with one out. Brings up Dansby Swanson, their eighth place hitter. He’s got 24 homers and that one golf right toward third arena. Steps on the back had a good stretch to retire the side. Mcreavy gets the roll over and the twin killing and we go to the third inning down one nothing. That’s two strikeouts for mcreavy. He’s not going to get a ton of those, but he’s got two through the first nine batters and now he’ll face Michael Bush. He drives on the gap in left center. There’s a base hit, it’s going to go all the way to the wall. Another extra base hit for Michael Bush. He’s fun to watch right now, isn’t he? To the left side? Avoids the base runner and a strike to first is in time. Horner advances the runner but two out mcreavy set here comes the 32 and it’s a swing and a miss. He struck him out again with an off speed delivery and that’s three strikeouts for mcreavy and that sends us to the fourth, the Cardinals trailing the Cubs 15 strikeouts here in the early going and it’s Nolan Arenado to be and that one shot toward left half on the run up near the Ivy. That one’s gonna go a line drive homer into the basket. Nolan Arenado has tied the game. Well, Nolan Arenado wanted to come back, wanted to prove that he is healthy and he has done that. Another home run. His 12th of the season skips into center field. It’s a stolen base for walker. It’s an RB I chance here for Victor fly ball right field happy fighting the sun makes the catch two away. Walker stays at second swing and a foul tip into the glove strike three as New bar is retired, they force ans four out. Number one, here’s Busch, he’s got two hits both for extra bases. Michael Busch strikes that one out to left center field. Second, he is locked in and not chasing anything. He’s seeing the ball well, fastball up and out over the plate and he hammers this ball to left center field. My goodness 10 total bases for Michael here in the fifth inning one on one out. Nolan Arenado coming up, Barnato , a single and a home run off, Taone and the throw to first, they’ve got him picked off. Busch runs him to second. The throw goes to Horner who runs him back to first. Now, Taion gets involved. This is quite a rundown and Dansby will tag him out. So Taone helps himself short hop , knock down throws out Arenado , excellent job by Jamison Taone walked and tapped back to the pitcher swing and a high fly ball left field. That one back, that one on it. Swing at the here. Se Suzuki. He’s gone deep four times in the last three games. He has awakened from his slumber and the bear is angry. Se Suzuki with his 31st home run and the Cubs take a 4 to 1 lead. Caleb Thar is the new left handed Hurler. So walker, the batter he’s grounded out and he’s walked, swing and a high fly ball. He went down and golfed that baby way out of here. Jordan Walker with a two run homer. What an encouraging swing of the bat there for the young walker. Way out of here in left field, a two run homer and the Cardinals. Now, 4 to 3. Can he get this guy out Michael Busch who has homer doubled and homered ripped in the right center field and that’s a base hit walker over to cut it off and it gets bat and Bush is around second. He’s on his way to third and he’s in and the Cubs pick up a run. It’s 53. I don’t know if you could be any hotter than Michael Bush right now and he is a single away from the cycle runner at second one out for Pete Crow Armstrong, who’s one out of three high fly ball right field, that one on its way out of here off the scoreboard. Look out, would this be something if this Cubs offense is heating up like it did in May and June? Because the Cubs, if their offense is clicking like we have seen this season, they will be a handful for any team in major league baseball and that is out number two. So now Michael Bush will get a chance. He needs a single for the cycle and these fans are standing. This is not just for today, this is for the whole season. I think they’re going to walk him. I do, I think they’re walking Michael Bush. They’re not going to let him for the bush will not get a chance. They’re going to walk him intentionally and the fans don’t like it. Keller getting some work here to finish things off the Cubs three outs from clinching home field and hosting the Padres on Tuesday here at Wrigley line drive short hop. What a play by Shaw at third and the ball stuck in the webbing, it stuck between the two fingers of the glove. I’ve seen that happen. I’ve had it happen and sometimes you just can’t extricate the ball quickly enough to make a play and that’s what happened to him. It’s stuck. So the plot thickening a little bit now, bags loaded, potential tying run at the plate with two outs in the ninth inning. See him ball game one more to go. But we know this. We’ll see you here, Tuesday for postseason baseball.

  2. Jaimo, Rea, and Boyd have absolutely saved the Cubs' season. With Steele going down, and the league adjusting to Shota, they would be a sub-.500 team without those guys.

  3. I would have liked for the Cubs to have clinched the top Wild Card slot sooner. They could have used an extra 3-4 games to set their starting rotation up for the playoffs, as well as give their bench players a bit more playing time so to be ready. The news about Horton just plain sucks as the Cubs could really use him.

I remember the 1984 playoffs against San Diego. At the very least this year, I want revenge. Best of luck to the Cubs, though I think the World Series will be Dodgers against the Mariners. Maybe the Yankees.

    3:27 — Is there a platinum glove? πŸ€”

Left field looked tougher than usual. The sun must have looked brighter than usual?

7:44 — Wrigley is supposed to be a bad park for triples, but there does seem to be a lot of them this season. But bad defense helps.

8:41 — Walking Busch intentionally is. . . . Well, just bush. This game would not affect the Cardinals' place in the standings. Earlier in the season, I would not have minded so much.
