Top MLB Plays of 9/27/25 (Javier Báez’s soaring catch, Nico Hoerner’s diving stop and more!)
Get on the ground and look at Devers. Hey, takes it himself. That gets your attention. That’s better than five cups of coffee. Vargas chasing foul territory. Will he get there? Oh, what a play as he crashes into the netting. Hustle from Vargas on the ground. Backhand. Ritter pops up and gets Lee who can run by half a step. I’ve really enjoyed watching Ryan Ritter play second base. Jammed him. Great swing. Here comes Spider-Man again. Jacob Young. Tremendous jump and then sliding into a beautiful catch. Now, here’s a line drive and a leaping catch at shortstop by Adamus to take one away with the excellent vertical leap. Talk about vert. Chapman. Chapman. He got it. And that’s the ball game. Yeah. Give me that pop up or ground ball to a goal glover any time to end the game. Pitch to Ref Snider. Hit in the air right field. Long run for Wel Perez and he slides and makes the catch on the track. Bounces up and says, “Let’s go.” Two down. Ground ball towards second. Sliding play made by Sto. He made it look so easy. like he makes most things look. Bernabel [Applause] cues this one on one pitch. Divers and they got him. I guess you’re taught cover first no matter what, right? No matter what. That is a uh a lesson of of of hang with him to the very end. Rolled on the ground of third. Sliding play made by Bone. Goes to second for one. That’s a solid play. Just the improvements he’s made this year defensively just unbelievable. Center Outman dives and makes the play. Boy, the Twins out fithers playing some D tonight. It was Martin earlier. Now Outman, he robs Marsh with a head first sliding catch. Hydroplaning deep third. Triolo on the move and he got him. That’s one of the best plays of the year for Jared Triolo. What a play. Finworth hits it out to short left. A terrific sliding grab there by Jake McCarthy. And that’s the first down and the second. Sinking liner, but McCarthy got to the spot. Rasel brings it. Ground ball out to short. Diving stop by Kim. Up on his feet to second. at one. Wisely hold. That was so fast by Kim diving to his right and quickly up on his feet and delivering a strike to Wisley for the out. The opponent having the lead and Salvador is going to get an out. Tyler Soderstrom working left field. Doing his best 80s hair band lead singer impression. I want to rock. Back goes Lawrence Butler. Mike Strmsky set it far out. Lawrence reaches up and how about a catch. Go get him, Law Dog. Sorry about it. Castles drills it to left towards the wall, jumping in, making the play and crashing is Austin Martin. Awesome play by Martin for out number one here in the Phillies fifth. Amazing he held on to this ball. What a play. as Rodriguez Rocket ones over the head of glass now and Miguel Rojas with some magic. Absolutely sensational to steal a hit away from Julio Rodriguez. Oh, Nico, what a play. There’s your gold glover at second. That’s what a second baseman looks like. Deals on the 01 swing and a liner into shallow left. Bayz. Jav Bayz. Are you kidding me? That did not have a chance of being caught until Jav Bayz flew through the air.
