Micah Peavy on practice intensity, rookie adjustments | Pelians Training Camp 2025
So, what’s like the level of intensity been like for your first few days of training camp here? Uh, it’s been a lot. Uh, everybody just wants to compete. Everybody wants to just get better. Um, I think I think it’s going to be a fun season. I asked Coach Green about you. They’ve been talking a lot about the first round things, but obviously you come in, you’ve established yourself in practice. He’s definitely not flying under the radar in practice. What are you bringing? Um, just my intensity, defense, offense, crashing the glass. Uh, just just making winning plays. Uh, we have a lot of guys who can make shots. So, I’m going to do all the all the all the dirty work to make everything easy for them. And many shots, too. For sure. But, you know, and I know it’s not NBA game speed yet cuz it’s not an actual game, but you talked about media day needing to adjust because you knew it was going to be a faster pace. You got to think quick and all that. How have you adjusted, you feel like? Uh, I think I think it’s been pretty easy. Uh, just, you know, before before training camp, just doing extra conditioning, just getting my body in shape for this for this grind this this season we’re about to have. So, I think I’m adjusting well. Michael, what has stood out about your teammates during this? Has has anything stood out? Whether it’s some of the veterans, maybe they speak to you, or some of the rookies that have looked good. What stood out? Um, just just communication, how much everybody just talks. Um, it’s just helping everybody get better, helping me learn because I don’t know everything right now. I don’t know all the plays, but they’re teaching me. And uh, so yeah, the vets have been helping a lot. How much can you um either talk to or just watch Herb in terms of like some of the stuff that you can model your game with? It seems like the way you talk kind of sounds a little bit like him in terms of understanding what your role is going to be, where your strengths are. Oh yeah. I just I watch him a lot. Um and he helps me a lot like on the side just just if I mess up, he’s coming over just telling me what to do. Um yeah, he’s helping a lot. What do you feel like has been a bigger transition? Uh the pace of play or just the concepts of that they’re putting at training camp? Um I think they’re both similar. Um I don’t think it has it’s been that hard for me. Um, at Georgetown, we had a uh a great coach that taught us a lot of stuff that we we’re learning now. So, it’s it’s not that hard. Do you have everything downloaded for the flight? I don’t. I need to go do that right after this. Got to get my Netflix. So, what’s the longest plane flight you’ve taken before this one? I think I took a 12-h hour. I think I went to Paris and London. So, this 20 hours is crazy. It’s going to be It’s going to be different, but I’m excited to go out there and show what we got. mentioned that, you know, your coach has has been very uh has been praising you pretty heavily, which is pretty rare for, you know, a a rookie to get the kind of compliments that um can you talk about defensively what the adjustment has been? And I know a lot of guys talk about from going from college to NBA, just the level of talent is obviously so much higher, but I mean, what has that been like in terms of just um getting used to the best players you can go against? Uh like I said, I don’t think it’s been that big of an adjustment. Um, I put my defense up there with with the best of them. Um, like and learning from her, you know, it’s it’s helped me a lot. So, yeah, it hasn’t been that big of adjustment.

If he's learning from herb to become a good Defender he's probably about 35 to 40% better than the players in the league right now because most of these players don't play defense so he's already ahead of the Curve so he can become a legit three and D player so where he can be a corner boy and knocked down shots got to be great
