  1. Always interested to see player turn broadcaster. Some are great like Kevin Bieksa, some not so much like Luke Gazdic. Interesting that he will make his debut tonight in the pre-season. I always appreciate a to have a former player’s insight on the broadcast.

  2. Yay Tyson! I met his inlaws they are so nice and have such good things to say, and he’s obviously hilarious and well spoken

  3. That’s pretty sweet. Barrie was a high-offensive skilled defenceman, so he can relate to Hughes. Excited to hear his analysis when Hughes makes his jaw drop.

  4. Awesome! After his recent round of media appearances, he’s well spoken with some great recent and relevant experience to the game.

The article isn’t as clear but is he in the booth with Shorty? If so then we have Dave, Ray and now Tyson which I ain’t complaining about – pretty deep bullpen of colour commentators haha.

  5. Excited for this! BC guy, well-spoken. Always interesting to get some new blood in the broadcast.

  6. I always liked him. I never thought he’d join us after his playing career but better late than never, I guess? 😂

    Edit: grammar

  7. That’s cool, but doing what exactly? The regional broadcast is pretty much Murph, Shorthouse and Tomlinson (with special Ferraro appearances). 2 guys gonna do colour at the same time? Seems crowded.

  8. He was a guy that always seemed to come up around trade deadlines/free agency/ off season trade talk etc

He finally did it, the crazy son of a….

  9. Should’ve just signed him instead, can probably play 3rd pair minutes and help out on the 2nd PP unit.

    /s

  10. So he’s gonna be like the new Brandon Sutter, a player that could no longer play but still wanted to be involved in a different capacity.

  11. Fuckin monkey’s paw.

I wished for him to be on the Canucks for years.

I got my belated-birthday wish. But only after he retires as a player and is a broadcaster.

  12. Finally the rumours of the Canucks trying to acquire Tyson Barrie every year has come to fruition
