Carmelo Anthony says he wouldn’t trade his Olympic gold medals for an NBA ring

  1. Trade all 3 golds for 1 ring? I believe his answer. It’s not like he was asked if he’d trade 1 for 1.

  2. Cap. If he had a ring and didn’t have a medal and they asked him would he trade it for Olympic gold he’d say the exact same thing he just said now.

  3. Who the hell would trade OLYMPIC gold medals for an NBA ring. Winning for your country on the world stage means way more. That’s like choosing your favorite club winning the premiere league instead of your country winning the world cup.

  4. An NBA title was never his top priority while he was playing. Why would it be now that he’s not?

  5. This sub got a hate boner for Melo man. People just itching to start hate threads on him. I really don’t get it lol

  6. Why do people here take it personally when professional players have different opinions than their own? Regardless of what you thought of Carmelo Anthony as a player he is expressing his opinion that’s all

  7. Nothing funnier than watching how desperate y’all are in this sub to hate Melo. You’re asking him would he give up the gold medals he won and the experience he had of being on an international stage playing with his closest friends and interacting with other Olympic athletes. That’s not something anyone would give up that’s an experience that you remember for the rest of your life.

  8. Lot comments on Reddit acting like they know a player better than they know themselves

  9. A title completely changes his legacy in a way winning 3 Golds on stacked USA teams never will. Just my opinion

  10. In 2008, Kobe said winning a Gold medal was more important to him than winning an NBA title. Granted, that was coming from a guy who already had rings, but it’s not the most ridiculous statement.

  11. Real talk, league is way different from the Olympics. 12 years of winning for one? No one is doing that trade

  12. Trading all 3 medals for one ring makes this an obvious answer, but I’m curious if he’d rather have 2 golds & 1 ring vs his actual 3 golds & no rings. Is the 3rd Olympic gold (something only ever accomplished by Melo, Durant, and LeBron) worth more than a first NBA championship?

  13. 90% of this sub hates Melo because he came back during the Lin run, and somehow a Top 75 player in his prime is racist for staking his claim as the best player on the team.

  14. Melo has always spoke really well. It would’ve been cool to see him play for Puerto Rico for one Olympic run. If they were to somehow get a medal it would mean more than any USA gold

  15. It’s only a matter of time before Olympic gold is much more prestigious than winning NBA title. Heck, even now, the international competition has become significantly better than a decade ago.

  16. Is this the same interview he gave months ago saying the same thing. Good man take what you have and don’t miss what you haven’t. Good on ye

  17. People here dont realize that it doesnt matter whether Melo was lying or not. What he said was the only right answer to the question. If he said otherwise, it wouldve been a controversial take. People would view it as selfish. Media and maybe even players would call him out.

  18. There’s no wrong answer here. Despite this sub’s hate boner for Melo, he’s had an incredible basketball career.

  19. At this point of his career/retirement. It would be foolish to say yes because he’d essentially be diminishing his own accomplishments.

  20. He doesn’t have a choice. That’s why it’s easy to say that lmao It’s not like he can win a ring just because he wants to

  21. Especially because he was critical to all of those golds. He’s perhaps one of the most accomplished Olympic basketball players of all time. Those things must be worth the world to him.
