NHL Preseason Highlights | Canucks vs. Oilers – September 28, 2025
and newcomer Andrew Manga. Feels weird to say that in Oilers’s colors, but he’s out on right wing wearing number 88. And we’re underway with Elias Person shooting the puck in from center. He’s paired on defense with Marcus Person. Canucks just got a piece of that to tip it away. Forwards had his stick broken here. He’s trying to defend without one as Bushar gets the puck in the blue line. Here’s Dry Cidle down to Conor McDavid attacking from the side. Puts one in front. Dry Cidle couldn’t shovel it through. Now he gets another chance and the puck stayed out but it’s jammed in by McDavid I believe. [Applause] Forward without his stick a scramble around the Vancouver goal crease early. Well, the dynamic duo for the Oilers get to work right away. And with that broken stick, everyone’s trying to help out and do somebody else’s job. And Budenko loses his stick, but David finds that puck. And after initially behind the goalender, Forward helping out. Isn’t able to stop the next one. Slides right underneath him. Keep the puck in. Down to Hele. Filipino centers. Slid towards the goal by Drew O’ Conor. Now he gets it again on the back end. He shoots. Skinner the save. took it off the right shoulder. Unable to catch up to it with Samansky. Now mixes it up a bit with Ratu. Oilers keep the puck in the Vancouver zone. Tomas to the side. Long shot. Demco saw it all the way. Steered the puck to the corner. Takes the warning. Buys them a few more seconds to rest up and then the Oilers win the draw. Here’s Ecom with the long shot. Tipped. Nice save there by Demco on the redirect by Andrew Majapani. Oilers get it free. Here’s a shot by Regula that was stopped by Demco. Frederick gets the loose around and Noah Philp wins it. Boilers set up. Long wrist shot by Alpin and that’s handled by Thatcher Demco. He’ll take the whistle. Here’s Murph. But now Okconor has a chance to skate out for Vancouver through center. Looks to his right with a pass to keeper Sherwood. Puts one towards the goal. Bounced through to Skinner who was able to steer to the side after sliding the puck deep into the Oilers zone. We’re past the halfway mark of the first period. One- nothing for the home team. Here’s Ryan Newton Hopkins dishing off. Opportunity Demco the save as they jockey for position. Here’s Bard Holm again. Long shot. Demco a blocker save. Oilers maintain possession. Eckle dry settle across. McDavid cuts left and a nice job by Sassin to strip him of the puck with Max Sasson moving it out to center ice. Oilers bring it right back in. Leon Dry drop pass. McDavid shoots. Decomp knocked it down. Loose puck. They score. Frederick on the rebound. [Music] Opposing teams McDavid and Dryidle coming back at the Canucks. Quick little stutter step and then Demco. It’s not right fully in the club. just bounces to the blue paint in front of him and Frederick’s first to find it as Ford, pardon me, had his stick up in the air. Wasn’t able to get it down in time to tie up Frederick enough. Very busy road trip and couple games at home that’ll see them play at one point seven in 10 nights. Shoots the puck around towards Heedle. gets away from one Oiler now fanned as he had his stick check while trying to feed the puck back to the blue line to Elias Patterson. Cox again wraparound to Jeff and there’s a good pass ahead Mapani trying to get behind Marcus Person who recovered well. Now he gets his stick in the middle of things for the Oilers send one on goal off the left pad of Demco.3% last year 14th overall but it was better on the road last season ninth away from home 14th at Rogers Arena but there’s going to be a Vancouver penolina Marcus P four on four continues with just over two minutes remaining first period. There’s a spinning shot from Nan Hopkins and Demco is able to get in front of that one. Bark centers the puck. Leer Mackey intercepts and he’ll pass across his own zone. Now Heedles out of the box. So the teams are back to full strength and here’s Heedle taking a lead pass going through to the fence. Stopped by Skinner who’s able to get his glove on the puck after making the save. There’s a great look by Pio Joseph digging in and going straight ahead with two defenders coming down. You want to get a shot off somehow and Heedle’s able to do that just to the forehand and Skinner was lucky. I went up a couple of minutes for Vancouver. McDavid and Frederick the goal scores. Two nothing Edmonton leads as we get underway here in the middle frame. Sherwood diving to try to come up with that puck. It’s going to go for an icing and they’ll face off short house money. There’s a shot from the line wide as Cole left. Oh, the puck came through the crease out the near side after Eol Kefir Sherwood bank pass to Heedle. Just over a minute to go on the power play. Here’s Leer Mackey. Another shot kicked out by Skinner. Sherwood was there hoping for a rebound. Didn’t get it. McDavid is in and couple of attempts to get it past Demco. Wound up going wide. They’re working their magic again. Here’s Bushard. Stopped by Demco and he’s able to cover the puck. Getting back to form. Same with the Oilers top guys. This shot here off the glove. Dry settle BAR and they’re joined by Tomasic who drew the penalty. Here’s the goal by Dryidle and a one-time [Applause] power play goals last season and looks like he’s in mid-season form with this one. And a subtle pick off the face off by Tomasic doesn’t allow the G for to get out there in that shooting lane or that passing lane as Denco goes to his left. The puck is over his right shoulder. That’s a laser and the Oilers quick strike on the power play. Here they come again. McDavid with Frederick. Conor McDavid shoots. Tempo able to fight it off. Couldn’t cover the puck as Frederick knocked it free. as planned for the third period, but he’s playing well. Conucks move onto the wing here onto a line with Heedle at center and intercepted by Leer Macki. Heedle spinning on Bush maintains control of the puck, but now the Oilers taken away. Frederick checked. Chance for the Canucks. Shot by Ratu. He scores. Atu Ratu after a nice play by Philip Heedle to help free up that puck or pardon me, Philip Heronic to help free up that puck. Ratu snaps it home and gets the Canucks on the board. Was Heronic to stuff the exit by the Oilers after some good hard work from below the goal line from Heedle. Bit of a giveaway and then Ratu’s going to jump on this and go near side over Skinner. Watch Heedle go to the front of the net being the ey line just a moment. Skinner doesn’t adjust in time and that puck goes near side shelf. That was a perfect shot. Canucks get it again. Okconor to the net. Just slid it wide on the forehand as he got it past the right pad of Skinner, but it just went outside the post. Here’s Coots in front. Tipped in. O’ Conor set up by Braden Coups. And the Conucks are within one with two quick goals here in the third period. How about that coaching decision to get that line right back out there. Okconor to the net. Just can’t finish it, but Coots is there to help it along and pass to the front of the net. Cuts tries to find Okconor goes off a skate. They can hit Echol. This will be Cooz’s goal. Rolls one in front that’s intercepted. Covering for the defenseman is Aratu as the puck is brought ahead by Eleep and shot by Kapp and stopped. Rebound. Deco diving to his right. Did he get the paddle on that? Come down the other way. They think they might be able to get one past him. And no. He reaches back and that’s off the heel of the stick. Turned over diving across. Oh, it’s close as he was being checked at the last second by Frederick while trying to one-time that puck. Oilers pick it up. They’re twoon-one. McDavid and Dryidle. Conor McDavid cutting in to the backand centers. Dry Cidle scores. [Applause] make it 42 Edmonton. Last time on the two on one, McDavid held it back and then saucered it. This time he held it there and then moves it across in the backand. I mean, they just create new ways to befuddle the opposition and Dry Sidle early in the first period. Had a one-time opportunity, missed the net. This one back of the net lets it go for Philip Heedle. Heedle making moves to try to get off the boards. Now has a little bit of room diagonally back. Marcus Patterson wrist shot looking for a tip. Puck comes to Leer Mackey. Back to Marcus Patterson. Now Heronic to Heedle across one-time Leer Mackey scores. What a pass by Philip Heedle. And Leer Mackey had it go on the stick and off the stick to get the Canucks back within one. Lecher Maki is going to start it. He’s going to disappear from your screen, but he’ll reappear with this one-time. And there’s no way Skinner’s going from glove to blocker side to stop this. Excellent pass by Heedle all the way across down on one knee by Leer Mackey. 4-3. That goal came with Demco at the bench. Six in one form or another as he tries to draw it back to Leer Mackey. And it’s the Oilers who win it. That’ll do it for the game. Canucks gamely battle in the third. [Music]
Leon Draisaitl and Connor McDavid combined for three goals and four assists as the Vancouver Canucks defeated the Edmonton Oilers 4-3.

Thst save was nastyyy😂
Canucks showed grit in the third period, just inches away from forcing overtime.
Cootes is a madman, his second goal of the preseason, he's definitely making it to the opener.
And Demko's unbelievable save at 8:33, absolute robbery! Save of the preseason right there.
4urd
Cootes aura is just too strong 🐐
Lekkerimaki is NHL ready!
Raty and Lekkerimaki gotta make lineup
Skinner almost blew that one LMAO
The headline is not right. The Oilers won 4-3.
Sooner or later, Edmonton are going to beg the Lord for a repeat season, because if they don't make the final, McDavid will leave. The last few games proved that by having to shed some depth, and by not at all addressing their goaltending, they are going to have a tougher season than the last. They only won because of McDavid and Draisaitl.
Oilers are one line team can’t even play their prospects in preseason to win a game
Canucks fan good game edmonton 🇨🇦
Oilers had most of the entire roster playing. CANUCKS, no hughes, petterson, debrusk, boeser, garland,Myers. Not looking good oilers
GG Edmonton the Abby squad didn't look too bad today.
Cootes is going places
Нытики играют ))))
Посмотрим как в этом сезоне они обосрутся
