Breaking down Patriots 42-13 blowout win over Panthers with Morgan Moses

All right, back here at St. Morgan Moses in the house straight from the locker room still in his pads. At least half your pads in there. Big time win. What does this do for this locker room? Um, you know, number one, man, we got, you know, the first first game at home, man. You know, so being able to get that, you know, control what we need to control and and you look at it on all phases of of the football, offense, defense, and special teams. We played a complete game. We played a complimentary football game and um that’s what we needed going into this next week. You know, a lot of talk about Reandre Stevenson and all the turnovers and the fumbles. What does it say about your coaching staff and the trust that they have in him the very first play in scrimmage you guys give them they hand him the ball and let him run with it you know I talked to him last week when you know when he had his his his fumble issues and um you I told him I looked at him I said look man we’re going to need you to win a game one one of these days and um you know look at it man you know going uh the way he ran the ball three of those guys ran the ball downhill you know fast and you know just being able to get in the second level and um you know obviously obviously the offensive line and you know Drake May getting us in the right the right plays um we just all we played efficient football today. You guys had a tough start. Uh Carolina sort of had a flow of things and Bryce Young looked he was comfortable. They get down and score. How big is a kick return like Marcus? Not only the one that he took back for the touchdown and to have five guys out in front blocking for him, but the second one, how much does that give the offense offense confidence when you guys take the field? I mean, it’s complimentary football, man. Anytime you can get the football in plus territory and be able to score, um you know, it’s complimentary football, man. And um I think that’s what we did today, man. Marcus Jones has been a hell of a football player for years um for the Patriots. and just to be able to see him, you know, go out there and do the things that he loves to do and compete, man. Um, and that’s the thing we did today. We competed in all all phases of the day. I know we’ve talked to you a couple times. You’ve been nicked up doing some things with your age and stuff. Michael Wenu, he was nicked up this week. He gives it a go obviously with uh you know, the left guard out. You bring Ben Brown in. So, uh, Ben Brown felt like you guys didn’t skip a beat with him. No, 100%, man. You know, everything goes through Garrett, man. Gary Bradberry, our center, man. He’s he gets us on the same page and, um, he’s electrifying, man. when you can have a guy that can, you know, get us in the right schemes and the right blocking schemes and um and this is what you see, man. When they’re all 11 are operating at a high level, um you move the ball up and down the field. Here’s Stefan Digs finally having a breakout game, right? I’ve been waiting for this guy to to unleash for a while now. And you know what? He stepped up today big. No, everything that he does and he brings to the team and uh the energy, the flow, you know, a true number one receiver. Um and you know, one thing about he’s been patient. you know, he’s come to work every day. Um he’s not complaining about getting the ball and um this is what you see when things open up and when you’re bit patient and um you let the game come to you, right? Um you see things like this happen, man. So, you know, big big big ups to him. You know, big free agent signing uh that we brought in this year and um he’s been nothing but a great uh locker room mate and teammate. Christian, there’s uh you know, there’s a lot of talk about, you know, offensive line cohesion and keeping the same group of five guys in there. Can you explain like how difficult it is for five guys, right, to to create this camaraderie and trust when it comes to communication? Like how long I think people think it should just happen right away. Like how long should it take or is or is it each team different? Well, you know, the big thing is that a lot of us we didn’t play a lot in the preseason or or in joint practices. So like, you know, we hit the ground running, you know, week one, you know, it’s a lot of us having all all 11 on the same on the field at the same time. Um but you know the things that we do in the building, outside the building, going to dinners and things like that and just you know fellowshipping one uh and creating that brotherhood every week. Um you know obviously you see it on the field you know um you know like you said Mike Mike was down a little bit this week and it’s our brother. So for us it’s like if Mike can’t be 100% somebody else has to pick up that you know that drop and um we’re able to do that and just communicate and like I said man Garrett’s been a hell of a football player for us at in the middle about the center. He’s been a hell of a hell of a guy for us, man. Um, just getting us all on the same page. You’re excited to play potentially your last game in Orchard Park in the old stadium. We got a new stadium next year, but you played a lot of ball games up there. It’s a it’s a different type of environment. It’s a night game next week against Buffalo. How big is a game is this for you? I mean, you know, everybody’s going to be watching, you know, and it’s a division game, so it counts for two. So be able to go out there, you know, you know, Raven said it earlier, you know, um this is a team that we haven’t had great success, you know, against um in previous years, but you know, being able to, you know, showcase what we can do out there today and um you know, have that adrenaline and push over to next week, man, you know, I think guys are going to be ready. Steve Burton alongside Christian Forier, Scott Zolak, and Morgan Moses straight up in the locker room. And let me tell you something. You talk about the offensive line coming together and bonding, but tell people what you guys do on Thursday nights. You know, every every Thursday night, man, we pick a place to, you know, somebody picks a place where we’re going to eat, you know, whether it’s Top Golf, Capitol Grill, you name it, man. You guys go out every Thursday night. Every Thursday night. Every It’s mandatory. It’s mandatory. It’s our way to get out the locker room and just create that brotherhood. You know, learning your brothers outside the locker room. That way when you get on the field that nothing can come between us. Who pays? We pick whoever picks the restaurant has to pay the whole meal for everybody. The whole meal. Whole meal. How many guys we talking? 13. 13 off the line. 13 guys. Yeah. Yeah. That’s a big bill. You pay one time and then you got like You’re free. You’re free. You’re free. You know, you’re talking about a guy that never pays for anything he want food from here. He goes to the bathroom and the bill hits the table. Hey, I heard you guys order the same drink. The Shirley Temples that get Tell me what’s up with that, man. I don’t know where it started, but like I want to say like last week or this week, there was about 40 Shirley Temples ordered. Who orders 40 Shirley Temples? That’s a lot of grand sugar in that sweet. Just sugar. Just sugar. Just sugar. Okay. So, listen. Let’s talk. Let’s since we’re on this good vibe. So, I am curious, right? How hard is it for you guys to do? And you hear this a lot, like block out the noise, especially when the season hasn’t started quite as good as everybody has wanted. How do you guys do how do you guys avoid all the the negative vibes that come out from outside of the city and handle in house? How do you guys do that? I think it’s really just the veteran leadership, man. You know, you got guys like Hunter Henry, you know, Drake May who’s young but is taking a leadership role. Uh like I said, Garrett Bradberry, myself, Mike O. Um and obviously the defensive guys as well, man. And so when you have a a great locker room of veteran guys and veteran presence that’s been through the ups and downs of their careers and and seasons, um you know, you just, you know, last week, you know, we had the five turnovers and we preached that, you know, nobody really got upset. We just preached like, “Hey, we got to keep the ball. We got to keep the ball.” Because normally when you have five turnovers, that’s a 30-point loss. You ain’t lying. You know what I’m saying? It wasn’t. It wasn’t. So, like that tells us that like look, if we stop beating ourselves, we have an opportunity to be in the game every week. That’s a team that went to three and one today. Pittsburgh wins in Dublin. So, like they’re up and rolling here. You got a veteran quarterback. You guys not so veteran. You got a young kid in there 23. How’s he been in the huddle? He’s been great, man. Um and the biggest thing about it is like I said, I keep on saying Garrett Bradberry. Why? Because he’s played so many so many football games at center and he orchestrates everything. You know, he’ll see things at the line that Drake might not see and he’ll look back and say, “Drake, no here. We got to go here. you got to go here. Oh, he’ll he being able to have that that that camaraderie and a quarterback that’s like, “Hey, like I trust you to see what you see.” Um, it’s big, man. It’s just uh, you know, definitely playing, you know, team football and, um, obviously, you know, that brotherhood that we talk about, eating dinner every Thursday, getting to know your brothers outside of the game. Um, it’s it’s just, you know, it speaks for itself. Who Who’s the uh who’s the biggest jokester in that locker room? Who’s the guy that you have to watch your back on? I’m gonna say in the offensive line room is probably Marcus Bryant. Why the rookie? Because he’s just like he’s letting him talk. Is that rookie talk? He’s a big dude, too. He’s just lost sometimes. You know what I’m saying? So, we got to reel him back in, you know? He’s like 22 years old. So, you know, it’s new being an adult, you know, paying bills and things like that. Um, you know, we got to re him in a little bit, you know. But, it’s been good, man. It’s been good for all of us just to be able to have that camaraderie with the young guys, the veteran guys, because we push each other. You know, Will Campbell’s came in and um has done nothing but put his head down and work. And I tell everybody, I learned just as much from Will that he learned from me. And when you can create that bond where it’s like Will can come to me like, “Hey, big dog, like I need your best.” And I can look at Will like, “Hey, I need your best.” And and nobody puts their head down or say, “Hey, like why don’t point the finger or anything like that.” Um that’s that you’re building the team in the right way. Yeah. I was going to ask you about Will Campbell because, you know, we were talking last week like we feel like he’s been doing a really good job. We never hear his name, right? Because there’s no false starts, there’s no there’s no penalties, you know, he’s doing everything. Yeah. That whole left side. talk about about just Will Campbell other than the obvious stuff that people may not see. Um, and just maybe his IQ of the game and how he’s picked it up so quickly. Oh man, you know, you don’t get a lot of guys that come from college game, you know, cuz college, you know, you don’t really run a lot of true pro style offense, you know, but him being able to learn fast and just trust the process and, you know, he’ll get down on some things and I, you know, that’s why I’m there. And just like the Miami game, I had a whole bunch of false starts. Will came to me and he said, “Look, big dog, it happens. Whether you’re in one year, the first year, or you’re in 12 years, it happens.” So, being able to have a guy like this, a rookie that can speak to you and speak volume to you. Yeah, I like that. Um, says a lot about you. Listen, it says a lot about you. Hey, sometimes sometimes stay away from me, rookie. No, what are you doing over here? But that’s that brotherhood we built, you know, over just not over just, you know, just, you know, this short part of the season so far, but just in training camp, OTAAS, and uh just, you know, Will coming in and being the guy that he he he wants to be and he needs to be for this team. And um he’s been great, man. Here’s what these two sitting next to you may not know that we’re going to have him on every week. Wow. Every week in our postgame show Eminem. There you go. Always. I’ll see you in Buffalo. I Yes, sir. Yes, sir. I’m not going to see you in Buffalo. I’ll be here.
