NHL Preseason Highlights | Canucks vs. Oilers | September 28, 2025

And newcomer Andrew Manga Aana. Feels weird to
say that in Oilers colors, but he’s out on right wing wearing number 88. And we’re underway with
Elias Person shooting the puck in from center. He’s paired on defense with Marcus Person to tip
it away. Forwards had his stick broken here. He’s trying to defend without one as Bushar gets the
puck at the blue line. Here’s Dry Cidle down to Conor McDavid attacking from the side. Puts one
in front. Dry Cidle couldn’t shovel it through. Now he gets another chance and the puck stayed
out but it’s jammed in by McDavid I believe forward without his stick a scramble around the
Vancouver goal crease early the dynamic duo for the Oilers get to work right away and with
that broken stick everyone’s trying to help out and do somebody else’s job and loses
his stick but David finds that puck and after initially behind the goalender forward
helping out isn’t able to stop the next one. Slides right underneath him. Keep the puck
in. Down to Healey. Filipino centers. Slid towards the goal by Drew O’ Conor. Now he gets
it again on the back and he shoots Skinner. The save took it off the right shoulder. Unable
to catch up to it with Samansky. Now mixes it up a bit with Ratu. Oilers keep the puck in
the bank of his own. Tomas to the side. Long shot. Demco saw it all the way. Steered the
puck to the corner. Ratu takes the warning, buys them a few more seconds to rest up
and then the Oilers win the draw. Here’s Eko with the long shot tipped. Nice save there by
Demco on the redirect by Andrew Majapani. Oilers get it free. Here’s a shot by Regula. That was
stopped by Demco. Frederick gets the loose puck and Noah Philp wins it. Boiler set up. Long re
shot by Alfred and that’s handled by Thatcher Demco. He’ll take the whistle. Here’s Murf.
But now Okconor has a chance to skate out for Vancouver through center. Looks to his right with
a pass to keeper Sherwood. Puts one towards the goal. Bounced through to Skinner who was able
to steer to the side after sliding the puck deep into the Oiler zone. We’re past the halfway
mark of the first period. One- nothing for the home team. Here’s Ryan Nent Hopkins dishing off.
Opportunity. Demco the same dry settle across. McDavid cuts left and a nice job by Sassin
to strip him of the puck with Max Sassin moving it out to center ice. Oilers bring
it right back in. Leon Dryight drop pass. McDavid shoots. Tempo knocked it down. Loose
puck. They score. Frederick on the rebound. Opposing teams McDavid and Dryidle coming back
at the Canucks. Quick little stutter step and then Demco it’s not right fully in the club just
bounces to the blue paint in front of him and Frederick’s first to find it as forbid pardon
me had his stick up in the air wasn’t able to get it down in time to tie up Frederick enough
now Heedles out of the box so the teams are back to full strength and here’s Heedle taking a
lead pass going through to the fence stopped by Skinner who’s able to get his glove on the puck
after making the save a great look by Pio Joseph digging in and going straight ahead with
two defenders coming down on him. You want to get a shot off somehow and Heedle’s able
to do that just to the forehand. Skinner was lucky. I went up a Here’s Carlson trying to s
that didn’t get through. Canucks get a second defenseman up there. Now here’s a turnover
in front and a backhander. Might have caught the crossbar as Sassin all alone in front
came close. Bousard behind the net so you can’t see him. And there there he is coming
from behind the net. Little backhand shovel. Skinner’s looking over now of Drew O’
Conor goes through the fence following up and getting a backhander away and I
think it went in. Is that Derek Forbert jumping up in the play as Okconor moved
in and Forward on the backand has gotten the Conucks on the board. Backhand toe of the
stick of Forbert does push the pad of Skinner. Dry settle BAR and they’re joined by Tomasik who drew the penalty. Here’s the
goal by Dry Settle on a one-time play goals last season and looks like he’s
in mid-season form with this one. A subtle pick off the faceoff by Tomasic doesn’t
allow the Cuck for to get out there in that shooting lane or that passing lane as
Demco goes to his left. The puck is over his right shoulder. That’s a laser and the
Oilers. Quick strike on the power play. Here they come again. McDavid with Frederick.
Conor McDavid shoots. Tempo able to fight it off. Couldn’t cover the puck as Frederick
knocked it free. Intercepted by Lucker Macki. Needle spinning on Bard. Maintains control of the
puck, but now the Oilers’s taken away. Frederick checked. Chance for the Canucks. Shot by Rachu.
He scores. Au Rachu after a nice play by Philip Heedle to help free up that puck. Or pardon me,
Philip Heronic to help free up that puck. Ratchu snaps it home and gets the Canucks on the board.
Ronic to stuff the exit by the Oilers after some good hard work from below the goal line from
Heedle. Bit of a giveaway and then Ratu’s going to jump on this and go near side over Skinner.
Watch Heedle go to the front of the net being the ey line just a moment. Skinner doesn’t adjust
in time and that puck goes near side shelf. That was a perfect shot. Canucks get it
again. Okconor to the net. Just slid it wide on the forehand as he got it past the right pad of
Skinner, but it just went outside the post. Here’s Coots in front. Tipped in. O’ Connor set up by
Great Coups. And the Conucks are within one with two quick goals here in the third period. Okconor
to the net just can’t finish it, but Coots is there to help him along. And pass to the front of
the net. Coots tries to find Okconor. Goes off his skate. They can hit Echol. This will be Cooch’s
goal. rolls one in front that’s intercepted. Covering for the defenseman is Aratu as the puck
is brought ahead by Aleppan. Shot by Kapp and stopped. Rebound Deco diving to his right. Did he
get the paddle on that? Come down the other way. They think they might be able to get one past
him and no. He reaches back and that’s off the heel of the stick. Turned over diving across.
Oh, it’s close as he was being checked at the last second by Frederick while trying to one-time
that puck. Oilers pick it up. They’re twoon-one. McDavid and Dryidle. Conor McDavid cutting
in to the backand centers. Dryidle scores. Make it 42 Edmonton. Last time on the two,
McDavid held it back and then saucered it. This time he holds it there and then he
moves it across in the backhand. I mean it they just create new ways to befuddle
the opposition and Dryidle early in the first period had a one-time opportunity missed
the net. This one back of the net making moves to try to get off the boards now has a little
bit of room diagonally back. Marcus Patterson wrist shot looking for a tip. Puck comes
to Leer Mackey. Back to Marcus Patterson now. Heronic to Heedle across one-time. Leer
Mackey scores. What a pass by Philip Heedle. And Leer Mackey had it go on the stick and off
the stick to get the Canucks back within one. Leer Macki is going to start it. He’s going to
disappear from your screen, but he’ll reappear with this one-time. And there’s no way Skinner’s
going from glove to blocker side to stop this. Excellent pass by Heedle all the way across down
on one knee by Leer Mackey. 4-3. That goal came with Demco at the bench one form or another as
he tries to draw it back to Leer Mackey. And it’s the Oilers who win it. That’ll do it for
the game. Canucks gamely bound in the third.
