Indianapolis Colts lose to the Los Angeles Rams 27-20
you know, it definitely uh it definitely stings. Um, you know, the uh the ball was put in my hand to um you know, make a play for the team and you know, I uh it was a matter of losing focus and you know, just a just a play that that just can’t happen and just just unacceptable. Um, I just got to be better for the team and for the organization. What are your emotions after, you know, something like that? Imagine. Yeah, definitely. Uh, definitely not the good ones. Um, just, you know, try to move forward and um, you know, learn from the learn from the previous mistakes and get better. just kind of get basically caught up in the moment there. Were you trying to celebrate or I mean I don’t know what were you just lost focus made a play that could happen. Coach said after Jonathan lost that fumble Russell Mullen in Denver. He made it a point of emphasis to everybody in the room. Yeah. Letters logos. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. We um Yeah. But we just going to move forward um and you know learn from the learn from our mistakes and um you know be better for the team. The uh the JT touchdown for the quarterback obviously I mean just what did you see when you looked at just you know letters and logos like the coach said like we just hit on um and just you know just just be better for the organization. You know this this play hurts hurts a lot. Um, so yeah, that’s all. When you say letters and logos though, what do you mean? Just holding the ball through the letters and logos, finishing through finishing through the end zone. To be clear, I was on some of the uh the touchdown today, the holding call, I think they call it on you. Did you what did you see? Yeah, just trying to just trying to make a play. AD teammates when they came up to you just to have their support, what did that mean in that moment? Um, couldn’t really process it. you know, kind of in the moment. Um, I mean, really still can’t process it to be real. So, I just got to, you know, everything is, you know, the whole play happening, you know, because of me. The only way I’m going to be able to get forward is, you know, just growing as a as a player, as a person through that touchdown, it had to be fun for you. Yeah. No, it was good. Uh, actually I think Daniel jumped in the pile and started pushing and and Mo and Tree were right there pushing the pile in. So it was uh it was fun. What are you going to do with the football first NFL touchdown? Um, I’ll probably probably keep it, but uh still got a long a lot of stuff to do in the season. So yeah, it’ll be it was fun, but but still got work to do. How much are the mistakes magnified, you know, against a team like that post game and then just too many? Yeah, I mean I think it’s it’s going to be every week, right? playing playing really good teams every week and then when it is a close game like that, you know, a lot of times the team with the least amount of, you know, penalties is going to come out. So, that’s something we can work on and fix. What do you say to AD after play like this fumble? I mean, we got got a lot of game left to play and and we’re going to have his back. So, so I don’t, you know, you say keep your head up and keep playing. What do you tell a guy like AD after the game today? Yeah, I mean, everybody makes mistakes. I mean, like even the best players, I mean, I had 10 targets for five catches for 40 yards. I mean, we should be talking about that. I mean, I didn’t do anything to this group. How much you guys going to learn about yourselves heading into next week? Oh, I mean, we just got to get back to work. I mean, I mean, one game doesn’t define anything. I mean, I mean, like, it’s a 17 game uh season and and like good teams lose, right? I mean, I mean, it’s it’s pretty tough to go 17 and0. So, um, you know, you know, like we’re not going to hang our heads on it and and we’re going to get back to work and come back next week. Tough because, you know, um, you know, he’s he’s one of the guys that gets the ball out quick, you know, once he’s, you know, sees it, he he rips it, he’s not afraid to throw in the small windows as well. So, um, you know, you got to just as a as a defensive front, you got to just try to continue to keep rushing and then to wait for that moment that he holds on holds on to the ball. But, um, yeah, when you get to the rhythm, it’s it’s tough to to break that point. But I don’t know you want to get the outcome overall. What did you think of the pass rush today overall from the pressure you want to put on this guy? No. Yeah, I feel like uh for the most part we did pretty good job um you know making him move around in the pocket, you know what I mean? Um there the times that he did the wall. Um I mean sometimes we didn’t get there but he was you know scrambling trying to scramble for some yards and it wasn’t many but um you know we got him down a couple times. Uh I mean yeah I mean I mean it’s we can definitely do better. I mean myself as well. Um some of those one of my opportunities I wish I had that. Um but I know some of the other guys do too. But um you know we just got to watch the film and and learn from it and continue to get better as a lead up to the play. We were looking looking around and like something just felt off. Um but obviously they’re about to snap the ball. So you’re just trying to figure out, okay, who do I have? Where’s their guys? Um so it just one of those things where you get off the field after and you ask like what happened and they tell you what what went wrong. But um obviously that’s something that just can’t happen from top to bottom us as players. Um knowing when we’re supposed to be in um but also the coaching like everybody we’re all one team so whatever mistake we had today it has to be has to be um good. Just give him time to process. Give him time to process. um you make a big play, you know, in a big time game and you know, something like that happens, you need time to process and you know, everyone’s talking to him and you’re you’re you’re you’re receiving it. You’re receiving it, but you just kind of got to internalize a little bit and just come to terms of what happened. So, I’m definitely going to have a deeper conversation with him. I just told him like, “Hey, we’re going to need you. We’re going to need you.” Just like the play that you made was a great play in Denver. He made a great play, maybe his best in the NFL. Is it something that he can draw from you too? Oh, definitely. Like I mentioned, you know, you make a big time play in a big time game and then something like that happens. It’s not how you draw it up. It’s not how you imagined it. Um but but that’s the nature of the game. That’s the nature of the beast. So, how can you how can you respond from that? How can you turn that into a positive? How can you how can you learn from that? During the game, do you take a moment to say anything to them or you just do you stay away? I guess how do you process your team? No, just definitely letting them know that, hey, we’re coming back to you. We’re going to need you. like we’re gonna we’re gonna need you. It’s not like, oh, you know, you make a play, you have a me and now you’re totally out of the game. No, we’re gonna need you. We’re going to win this game. What do you think the overall uh just miscues today? A lot more today than we saw the first weeks of the season. Like you mentioned, a lot a lot of miscues. Um and you know, a lot of that comes from the road, you know, being on the road, but you got to fight through those things. You’re going to be in loud environments. um you’re going to be in difficult situations and those elite teams find a way to fight through all of those things to have clean execution. Win out the end. Um we got to be better. Obviously, we hurt ourselves in a lot of situations with penalties. Um we got to take care of the football. Um and that starts with me. So, open up questions. Shane, what did you think of the play with AD Mitchell? And I guess what did he tell you? How do you explain that turnover? Yeah, it’s hard to explain uh in that situation, but um we got a lot of faith in AD and this is a bump in the road for him and he’s going to bounce back. Um We got a lot of confidence in his abilities. After after JT made the mistake last year, is this something that you’ve emphasized? Yeah, it’s it’s a point of assist and I got to do a better job of emphasizing it more. Starts with him. You also had I mean the the holding call on JC’s run is really costly too. I just what did you see there? Yeah, I didn’t see the penalty um but they called it. We’ll go back and look at it and again all those things start with me. Through his first two years that he’s had some ups and downs. I guess how do you help him through this because this is this is tough. Yeah. Uh it’s all part of this process and his journey. Um everyone’s journey is different. Um he’s got a lot of ability uh in his body. Um and so we got to get through it this week uh and get ready to go for Vegas next week. Probably couple where we could have had scored 34, you know, with touchdowns. I got to go back and look at Warren’s play there where he caught it down to the three. Um look at that one and obviously the big run JT, you know, to take the lead there. So get those plays the way Howard played today. Did you feel like the Rams didn’t target him at all? Um, I thought, you know, credit to those guys. I think those guys got really good receivers. Um, Fuka and, uh, Devonte are really good players, so credit to them. Um, but we’ll go back and take Do you have to at least have the conversation about personnel at that spot? This is not the first game where he’s kind of, you know, where they’ve kind of went after him. Yeah, look, he’s a he’s been a hell of a player in this league for a long time. Um, but obviously, we’ll go back and look at the tape. Uh, we evaluate everything and certainly with Daniel’s performance, what did you what did you see from him? I thought he played good. I mean, obviously the first one we tried to take a shot there. I thought the safety made a good play on the ball. Um, and then there at the end, obviously, we’re just trying to get chunks there at the end and uh tried to throw a little shot to pit and the guy went up and made it, but thought he was efficient throwing it. Um, so yeah, when he when he goes deep, does he need to let it go earlier a little bit? I don’t know. I’ll go back and look at it. I think he’s been throwing pretty good though. After 80 fumble, defense forced three straight punts. Is that kind of complimentary football? Yeah, no doubt. I thought our defense did a hell of a job uh bouncing back from that um and keeping us in the game and obviously, you know, go take the lead there. Um but obviously we didn’t do enough at the end. When a moment like that happens during the game with AD, do you say anything or are you still too busy like with just the next play? Yeah, I went talk to him. I said, “Hey, hang in there. Hang in there. We we need you. Let’s go.” Um obviously, you know, ended up playing the rest of the game first. You know, he made a heck of a catch on that play to to get to the ball there. Uh incredible, incredible catch. Um yeah, I mean tough play for sure. You know, he after such a tremendous effort just lost the ball there at the end, but um feel for him. I know I know he uh he hurts with that, but um you know, he’ll bounce back and and uh he’s a hardworking guy. He’s been there every day grinding. So, we all have a lot of faith in AD and and uh you know, I’ll continue to have a ton of faith in AD and um you know, one play doesn’t define any ball game. You know, we didn’t do enough today to win the game. as a quarterback, do you say anything after that play on the sideline in the heat of the moment? Uh, I think just, you know, making sure he knows I’m going to keep coming to him and keep counting on him. Um, and uh try to communicate that to him. You know, he he’s uh he he cares a lot about this. He works hard. He’s, you know, he’s one of those guys. So, um, you know, just just kind of encourage him to to play the next play, move forward, and and um, you know, that that’s the communication there. But like I said, one play doesn’t define the game. Daniel, how much do mistakes get magnified in a game like this? And I’m not just talking about AD, you know, penalties, whatever it might be. Um, against tight games, but it’s a team like that. Yeah, I think that, you know, certainly you’re playing a good team and and um yeah, that you know, all those all those plays um times when you hurt yourself, self-inflicted stuff, uh turn the ball over, penalties, all that stuff is going to be magnified in a in a game against a good team. Um you know, we we fought and and went back and forth, but ultimately I think we we shot ourselves in the foot. Hello and welcome to SoFi Stadium. I’m Joey Ericson. Colts inside for the Indie Star. Colts lose today. They fall from the ranks the unbeaten. They go down 27 to 20. A lot of focus is going to be on AD Mitchell. And I think obviously for his career specifically and for what the Colts think of him, making maybe the biggest boneheaded blunder of his career so far. Sort of reinforces what we’ve known about him that he’s got talent, but he has trouble finishing plays. He has trouble making them all the way through. It’s been a problem. He has his worst one today. Drops the ball in the end zone. We’re going to People are going to focus on that. I think the larger issue for this Colts team going forward is what they’ve got going on in the secondary. They they put Mooney Ward on Devonte Adams that generally held Adams in check today. But Xavier Howard on the other corner has really really struggled when they’ve gone up against good offenses, good coaches, good quarterbacks. They’ve targeted him over and over again. Cukakua a huge game today. Just moved the chains over and over again. A lot of those plays were against number four. Colts need to find an answer there. Whether it’s Mai Blackman who fell down on the last play, whether it’s Jonathan Edwards, whether it’s Jaylen Jones when he comes back, they need to find something better than what Xavier Howard is doing because right now teams are just targeting him. On top of that, uh you get a good day from the pass rush and you have issues in the secondary. Most notably, Cam Binham revealed that they only had 10 men on the field on 22 Atwell’s game-winning touchdown pass. Can’t happen. It’s a secondary mistake. This defense, Lanna Rumo was brought in to shore it up and make it a a team that could win. You saw flashes of it in the second half, but also this is a team that a defense that gave everything up. So for the Any Star, I’m Joel A. Ericson. I think the defense is what to take away from this game. Please like and subscribe and we’ll be back and see what they’ve got going into the Raiders.

AD Mitchell has a world of potential, just needs to tighten up and lock in.
Xavien Howard is a different story. I was excited to have him but his time has clearly come and gone. He’s a target every week. When all else fails, teams throw directly at him. We can’t survive that.
Mark my words. With the right leadership… AD going to be a dog. Reggie ain’t going easy on him here & the kid is trainable.
Look at him from last year to this year. He’s actually catching the ball in game.
I guaranteed he never makes this mistake again. Everyone is going to talk about how he dropped the ball. Ain’t no one talking about what a baller catch/shake move that was. What’s going to happen more in the future? AD catches. Not dropping balls.
Keep your head up AD. You’re going to Ball.
I'm more pissed about Howard, I don't think he is a starter, he's targeted every game and being taken advantage of.
AD screwed up yea, but D was ass
Ad man that was a great catch bro keep up the work bro. Mistakes happen just keep catching like that.
I love how Pitt stood up for AD!! We were the better team so let’s move on!! We got a good team
It was the holding penalty he had that was stupid
Man i like AD but i wonder if he got broke off to throw that game something is not adding up this is a guy who pride himself on his catches and how good he is ijs something stank
Fire AD into the sun!
RAMS SNATCHED THE W AND THEY SNATCHED CAM BYNUMS HAIRLINE!!!
Don’t cry, Rams just better than y’all, Stafford shredded your secondary, Jones couldn’t handle the pressure 😆😎
Colts went for a ride on the TU TU train 😝😆🤣
I was furious angry earlier. After seeing this i can tell He hurts more then all of the fan base put together.
Kid wants to be great not just good. Them yards after the catch was absolutely spectacular.
If that block had been all the way clean that'd been a huge reason why Taylor got the TD. That corner had the angle and was moving straight toward Him.
Leave Mitchell Ass There
He going bounce back 💯
You guys are idiots. You know that, why the hell would you even bother interviewing Mitchell for? That guy shouldn’t even be on this team right now. And if he keeps on making mistakes.Steichen needs to go right with him right out the door!!
Give me a break, AD. Just admit that you were about to hold the ball up with your right hand to celebrate and you just dropped it. You lost focus?? What "focus" is required to just hold the ball until you're well into the end zone? Stop thinking about how you're going to showboat and just get the points! You made an excellent catch, fantastic run and then left us with this bad ending to remember. Play for your whole team not just for your own glory and you wouldn't be doing that "look at me" dropped ball again. C'mon, kid, get it together, we need your talent!
I’m so mad at mitchelll iont even wanna hear his dumb ass voice
That was no celebration 🎉.. that was taking his eye off the ball for a spilt second and having no eye and hand coordination mixed with excitement plain and simple. It came down to being asked to mask who he really is as a person.. sometimes a player can be over coached ya know? Colts at the point were its toxic two years straight.. these guys just want entertain and celebrate and have individual success . NO ONE OF PLAYERS WANTS TO GO UNNOTICED. And that’s not just colts players .. that’s the way these new age players are in the world were going viral is just as important to them getting the bag just doing your Job isn’t enough. They misconstrue the bag 💼 for highlight dancing 💃 and posing versus actually being a winner out here I these streets!
Hard to win with stupid players.
Hey leave young bull alone we're gonna win a lot more than we are gonna loose
JT would’ve ran that corner over at the end of the day .. no need to hold… just ask sneed if you think im just talking
Love AD, but lock in, no more mistake! Pay attention in class..
We you get to cocky 😂😂😂😂😂
Notice how when AD made a mistake he got emotional avoided the huddle, when Warren did he held his high and didn’t seem fazed
This is why Mitchell sucks cuz he's not a man he must not had a daddy to teach him how to be a man and look the camera in the eye look the fans in the eye and say I fucked up I didn't learn from JT last year when we lost the broncos game and lost the playoffs because of somebody doing something stupid trying to celebrate before they're even in the end zone and who needs to celebrate anyways act like you've been there loser we know you haven't You've never done anything and you're not going to cuz Pierce is coming back and he's our man. Without Pierce our team looked soft as Charmin we couldn't block for JT we couldn't stretch the field we didn't have any speed out there we missed our most valuable offensive player and that is Alec Pierce. This dude is a piece of trash What a bum. I think that if he plays for our team then Danny dimes should go somewhere else to where he's actually going to succeed instead of having players like this douchebag you can't even open his mouth to talk cuz he's such a baby not a man terrible
We don't need this guy on our team we don't need them at all he has nothing for us He's a nobody He's never going to be anything
Pittman seems to be growing as a leader ngl prime Pitt
5:00 don’t ever speak on LA! Mark…
AD is proving all the teams that passed on him right. He's trash.
AD Mitchell will bounce back. Nobody can cover him. NOBoDY.
Colts also had 4 starters out, do you want to count Hunter Wooller, Justin Walley I mean we’ve got several starters out the Rams were at full power and we still should’ve blew them out of the water
Tough break! Good luck with your next team.
