Genuinely as a fan of a team who could not be happier about this Mets collapse, I hate the Mets so much because they try to play up this whole “lovable losers” gimmick that we should feel sorry for them for how much misery they always go through. But since Steve Cohen took over, just like in 2022, there is nothing they can do to make me feel sorry for them.
You have the highest payroll in baseball, the richest owner in the sport, and you just signed a player to the richest contract in American sports history (who gave you his best career season), and at one point had the best record in baseball. If you can’t make the playoffs with all that, I don’t owe you anything.
Tyler Phillips in his on-field interview after the game made it very clear how much that Marlins clubhouse felt like a family, and they would’ve taken that team photo today win or lose.

The Reds celebrated in Milwaukee and because the Brewers are a class organization their scoreboard crew put up a graphic for the team to take a picture against as a backdrop.
You can tell the guys in the booth were in their feelings. There was no sign of disrespect from the Marlins. They were taking a photo and it had nothing to do with the Mets. What they were actually upset about is that their team failed to score a run with their season on the line vs a bottom 10 team.
