How would you rank the last eight Cardinals head coaches?

  1. This is tougher than players, looking through our history it just brings to the forefront how depressing our franchise history truly is-

    1. Bruce Arians (49-30-1, only coach with a winning record in Arizona, only Cardinals head coach with an all time winning record since 1973-1977 (Don Coryell, 42-27-1) unless you count Larry Wilson in 1979 (2-1 all time record)
    2. Ken Whisenhunt (45-51, most playoff games and wins out of any coach in Cardinals history, has 4 of our 7 total playoff wins in franchise history since the NFL playoffs began in 1933, super bowl appearance)
    3. Vince Tobin (28-43, won a playoff game in 1998, first Cardinals playoff victory since 1947)
    4. Kliff Kingsbury (28-37-1, one playoff appearance resulting in an embarrassing loss after a collapse in the regular season, but had some moments of hope)
    5. Jonathan Gannon (14-24, a bit too early to rate accurately or know where he’ll finish, could go either way, so far hasn’t inspired too much confidence, but also hasn’t “disappointed” per se)
    6. Dennis Green (16-32, drafted Larry Fitzgerald, known for one famous press conference)
    7. Dave McGinnis (17-40, once again, disappointing on field results, but by all accounts a nice guy and well liked with the players, too bad that doesn’t help you win football games)
    8. Steve Wilks (3-13, gap integrity)

  2. 1. Arians – started well, but people seem to forget how he was unwilling to change his philosophy and how loyal he was to his coordinators (sound familiar?)

    2. Whisenhunt – good results as a coach here, but I feel like he also had some of the best overall rosters we’ve ever had. Look at what happened when he inherited bad rosters in Tennessee

    3. Gannon – Results haven’t shown up (yet), but his rosters have over performed and the players love him. He also is loyal, has a clear system and coaching philosophy, which can be good or bad, but usually good for consistent success.

    4. Tobin – won a playoff game with an average to below average QB (sorry Plummer fans)

    5. Kingsbury – better coordinator than head coach, just not equipped at the time to be the alpha in the front office.

    6. McGinnis

    7. Green

    Unranked – Wilks

  3. The half full bottle of ranch dressing in my refrigerator has a higher football IQ than Steve Gap Integrity Wilks.

  4. Only ranking guys I was around for and/or remember:

    1. Arians

    2. Kliff

    3. Gannon

    4. Whisenhunt

    5. Wilks
