I mean…Toronto does fill up every game.
In fairness, New Orleans probably would’ve as well had BI and Z actually staid on the floor the majority of their run
He aint lying. I remember a home play in game that we very much could have won being dead as hell. The team aint great, but I remember fans that did show being lame and complaining even when we were up. Probably the only time the crowd support upset me more than the loss. It felt like everyone there wanted the Pels to lose.
Edit: Am I wrong or are yall just salty? I expected more out of New Orleans crowd for a “loser goes home” game.
Salty, got it.
Geaux Pels
Meh
I mean. It also helps when you’re not on the bench and the biggest name in the starting lineup is CJ McCollum (I say this as someone who loved CJ). When we played well it was when he was healthy which then led to bigger crowds. An issue is he would be injured for extended periods of time and the team faltered after he was gone.
Sorry we didn’t give you the max you wanted while you were miserable here.
is he wrong???
Hopefully Ingram being gone results in Zion becoming accountable and Trey continuing to get better.
He’s missed a minimum of 18 games, some over 30, each year for the past 5 seasons
When they start caring…. we’ll care. This economy is too crazy to be wasting money for not just mediocrity but nonchalant mediocrity 😂😂😂😂
I mean, you averaged 12 points in the playoffs, that certainly didn’t help
New Orleans is a football town, always will be
Saints and Pels can’t compete when it comes to popularity in the city. It is what it is
how difficult is it to leave the city out of it?
He isn’t wrong but Louisiana has a smaller market and they put on a lot of bad product.
The most expected heel turn since…. somebody, I don’t watch wrastlin’ but you get the point. It’s crazy that Griff offered this guy 45 a year and it’s even crazier that he didn’t take it. I’m glad they’re both gone. Credit where it’s due, B.I. does have one of the greatest nicknames ever, The Slim Reaper
The Toronto metro area is 5x as populated as New Orleans metro area with a similar metro area footprint, and the Toronto arena is only ~1.2x larger than SKC.
BI isn’t wrong, but you don’t have to be a genius to understand the differences between the cities and how easy it is to fill the arena. It doesn’t really have a lot to do with “love”, just say Toronto is a much larger metro area.
Not from NO, but this is silly. Toronto, both urban and metro, is many times larger than New Orleans and the median income is about double. It’s basically comparing the 6th largest market, and high income city, to the second smallest market and a low income city. Of course more people are paying to come to games, win or lose.
I’m from Atlanta, we have much less of an excuse for not filling out the arena.
there is no such thing as a casual pelicans fan, because the pelicans have never been good enough to attract the attention of casual fans.
For those bitching about what he said, when have we consistently had good crowds? Even when the team is good, there’s still tons of empty seats in the arena. For example, 49 wins and a playoff berth in 2024 wasn’t enough, people in New Orleans chose Jazz fest over the Pels. And yes, I know we haven’t won much, I watch enough the games unfortunately. However, there’s teams like Toronto and Portland who suck, yet still show up. It’s embarrassing to show up and be outnumbered by visiting fans for about a third of the league because the city of New Orleans doesn’t give a shit about the Pels
The inconsistency of game attendance is a reflection of the inconsistency of the team. While Toronto does have better attendance it is also in a bigger market with a population in the millions and has been much more consistent in putting out a team worth showing up for.
Toronto is way bigger and has recently won an nba championship
To be fair: if your players are worried about how many people are in the arena to watch you play basketball, you’re worried about the wrong things.
Maybe we were tired of seeing him sit out when he could clearly play. Even when he did play it was clear he didn’t care. Stood around a lot, slow in transition.
To be fair, toronto is like 21x bigger than nola population wise right? I still love bi, but its not realistic to expect us to fill every seat every night when we got our 6 best players being re-evaluated in 3 weeks
Color me jaded, but I don’t think he showed up in some of the games where we needed his presence the most. Whether it was due to lack of availability or just being out of form, the track goes both ways.
im still a BI fan, always will be, but when i came to the one game i can come to (when we play at Philly) BI sat out and Z got injured halfway through
Win something and people will spend the time, money, and effort to show up. Half the team barely played, so why should we be forced to fill seats?
Toronto is a “bigger market”… but they will boo you just the same
“Oh God Brandon, you have been hurt. You have been hurt by somebody, that much is clear. Who hurt you?”
He isn’t wrong that has always been my gripe with Pelicans fans. That playoff series against okc games 3 and 4 at home was so sad to see, that home attendance was worse than a regular season game. Did bi suck that series? Yep he did, he also just got back from injury and still played. We also almost won game 1 that series but the fans didn’t support the team.
it is what it is — nothing but the best for you BI but no love lost here
