Now he’s hitting .180 since the August 1st and 5 home runs since the all star break. Cubs can wait a few years now to offer him anything
Beautiful.
I like when players *actually* talk, say what’s on their mind. It’s easy to forget that fans aren’t the only ones feeling the frustration. Even easier when they choose to or are forced to stick with sports 101 PR cliches. You know the ones: “I’m just trying to help the team”, “I’m trying not to do too much”, etc.
This was endearingly human.
I’ve seen some people say his body language on the field implies a young guy who’s maybe a bit of a brat. I guess I could see that if I squint but everything he’s said throughout the year (and now this) suggests a player who’s insightful and articulate beyond his years.
“I’ve been talking to Nico about that a lot lately. He’s the most methodical, hardest working guy I’ve ever been around. And he’s locked the f*** in. Always. He steps into the box with this *fierceness* about him. I think we both have that. I love this game more than anything. I want to be great more than anything. I mean that s***. But I think what Nico has, that I don’t yet, is the ability to ride the lows, to stay cool and calm, and trust the work, even when it’s not paying off.”
* [jason kipnis](https://www.theplayerstribune.com/articles/jason-kipnis-cleveland-indians-world-series): apr 2017. this one was a fun read because it told the side from cleveland… he calls out the cleveland fans a little bit: “We saw a ton of blue shirts, and hats, and jerseys — especially during Game 7. And I’m not going to lie … it hurt a little bit.”
What a great read. Love this guy
I really liked this ! Good prose, his admiration for baseball and players who come before him really shines while highlighting the future he wants for himself in baseball. I know players are crazy busy as it is but a little blog would be cool.
>And you remember that board game, All Star Baseball? I loved that s***. That was my jam.
hell yeah
I liked all the censored cussin’

You did good Papa PCA
Awesome.
Wow. Just wow.
I think we all know what jersey we’re going to bye next.
Good luck Pete, you are THAT dude!
I’m calling it now, Cubs win the 2027 WS
PCA, you gave us a thrill this season unlike any I have experienced in my decades as a hardcore Cub fan. You can stand tall with your head held high, because you are a fucking amazing human being!
We love you, and man would I love to have a couple of fucking beers with you!
For the record, I realize that PCA will never read this, but one can dream. Go Pete! Your rise to immortality has just begun. You’re just 23, you have a long career ahead. Now go forth and kick some ass this October!
Great read. Really sheds humanity into the guys you see on the field every day
Great read! I love the picture of him standing there with Happ and Heorner on each side. He needs those guys around him, like yang needs yin.

What an incredible article from this young man. Makes me love him even more!
“Words don’t get on base in October. Words don’t gun a guy down at the plate. Words don’t get a ring. It takes a team. And we have a great one.”
One of the most likeable players in Chicago history already. PCA is a gem.
That was a beautiful read.
When the Cubs win the next championship I can’t wait to see PCA being the first one sprinting out onto the field.
When did he get a blog?!? I love this
Sign him to a long term deal. I want this kind of person as the face of the Cubs franchise for the foreseeable future
Stickying this since no game today.
LET’S GO
Thank you for linking! I knew his parents were Cubbies but had no idea PCA’s dad was a *Cubbie*.
Awesome article. Reminds me of Arrieta when he tweeted in like 2012 or something:
“One day I’m going to be a dominant pitcher”
And then four years later wins a World Series as a part of the starting rotation. So sick
Rooting for you PCA!!
Can someone lend me a brick wall? I already ran through all of mine.

Read with bated breath for possible Milkshake Ducking, pleased to find nothing except liking Aaron Rodgers and Jeter as a kid.
*Dad, don’t be weird … stop crying*
😂
Dude he’s so cool
this is so great. pca is incredible, and sorry pca’s mom, but he is **a mature 23** haha
