MLB Network | Mariners are most dangerous team in AL & Cal Raleigh will win 2025 AL MVP – Sean Casey
Stand up straight. Sit up straight. Ball to strike is the name of this game because these are dors. If you agree with my statement, it is a ball if you agree. Strike. You got me. Cap space. Uh, we’re doing this already. Cal Raleigh will win 2025 AL MVP. Judge leads in average on base slug. OPS plus and war. Cal leads in home runs and RBI and has caught over a thousand innings. Yeah. This season. What do you think? Oh, you’re looking at me. I know. I didn’t I’ve been told to sit up and I’ve been told to sit up and then I go first. Uh ball. Okay. I’m going to say ball. I think all the numbers that you stated there judges ahead. If he gets to 50 and wins a batting title, there’s two guys that have done that and they’re pretty good. Manel and Jimmy Fox. And I think he’s getting 50. He’s at 49. So I’m going to say ball too. As much as I want to say strike cuz Kelly’s having an unbelievable year what he’s doing, especially that he’s a catcher. But I just feel like Judge is doing so many things right and leading the league in so many categories. He has a 40 40 plus W wrc bigger than Cal Rob. We are desensitized to judges. We are 199 and and I hate that this argument sometimes in some circles mostly on social media that is a personal attack or that you bismerch Aaron Judge’s greatness. It’s a strike for me just because Cal Raleigh’s doing it at the catching position and al also he has played in the field 278 more innings than Aaron Judge. I think that that is significant when you are considering two players that are having unbelievable seasons. It is so close. Both are very deserving and quite frankly if they want to do a co- MVP Allah Willie Starel and Keith Hernandez I’d be fine with that everybody will be. This is going to fascinate some people to see how this ends up. The magic is working in Seattle. Gentlemen, we all see it. Let’s take it one step further. The Mariners, listen very carefully, are the most dangerous team in the American League. Start. It’s a strike. Why? Because the timing of how they’re playing and how they’re getting caught now. It it’s a strike for me because offensively offensively they have been really good and I don’t think Derek that we have even seen the best of their starting rotation. The rotation and the pitching kind of which has carried them recently. It hasn’t been as great as the offense now and now I think they’re starting to round into form. So for me I think they are the most dangerous team. I agree. I thought I got to go first. Not for every question. No I mean I’m gonna I’m gonna agree with you Robert. I it strike for me too. I I I think their pitching is the best pitching. They have not had the offense they’ve had over the last couple years. I I really think the guy that we have not talked about enough though in that group is Jorge Palano. That was such a great sign for them. You know, the fact of what he’s done, the doubles, the homers, he’s kind of stabilized him at second. Naylor’s been great. Julio’s been great. Obviously, Kelly’s been great, but I think Jorge Palano is kind of that sneaky guy we haven’t talked about. Me, too. I’m straight three. Yeah, I really Are Yankees too for you? I agree. Yeah, Yankees are two for me. Yankees are playing great baseball, but the Mariners bringing Nai in Suarez and don’t forget Julio Rodriguez. What he’s been doing this second half as you know he’s he can be in the MVP talks of the second half so good. I think that pitching is going to be really good in the postseason. They are dangerous. Haven’t won the West since 2001. I always think about this cuz Brian Woo was one and that that stat always sticks out for me. It’s unbelievable. They lead the American League 5.9 runs per game to your point. All eyes on Ohio this final week. Guardians are in as of today. Reds won back. We heard from Terry Francona earlier of a wild card. Both Ohio teams, you ready? Will make take a deep breath. Will make postseason case. I actually think Cincinnati. Terry Fran there ready to go. LA Dela Cruz starting to heat up with the long ball a little bit. Obviously, uh, you know, on the subway, I think they’re going to find a way. And they have the tiebreaker. And they have the tiebreaker. Just saying they’d both get in. No, Shelty. I’m scared. No. It’s happened twice, by the way, in non-shorten seasons 1995 and 2013. I’m ball. Okay. I’m going to Are you half strike? Ball. I’m half strike. I think I think one of the I think the Guardians get in. I don’t think the I don’t think the Reds get in. The I mean the Reds got the challenge. They had to win last night because they get skins today. And I know skins is probably only going to be five innings that he’s not going to go to fulltime. and they got Hunter Green, but they still get Paul Skins tonight. They had to win last night and they did not win. So, I’m gonna say, can you say Five games to go, Shelby? Five games. I wonder how how long skins will go. I’m going to say five. I I don’t think I don’t think they’ll shorten him. I think they’ll let him pitch to 8590. I don’t think they’ll shorten him completely. That’s just my opinion. Don’t have any insight on that. But, uh but I with the fact of I I mean, I know who the Mets play and they play the Marlins and I and I know the Diamondbacks play the Padres’s. So, but the Reds still play the Brewers. So, I’m going to say half and half. Uh, Schmes threw two innings in his last start last year. That was I was there for that one. That was in New York and that was on purpose. That was that was very much scripted, but we were also very careful. The Pirates were also very careful with skins last year as we went through it. I think this year they want him to get to the final and they’re they’re going to build his innings. I would say five. Again, I don’t know, but that that would be my He wants to go nine. He wants to go nine every time. I’m going to say I’m going to say ah shoot. I get I I don’t know. You know what? Strike. You don’t have to answer this one. You don’t have to answer this one. You’re exempt. You have to answer the next one. It’s about your Houston Astros. And your glass half empty, so I need a little bit of I need some pep in your step on this one. The Astros. Have you seen what’s been transpiring? I already know what he’s going to say. What is it? Doom and gloom over here. Astros are reached the postseason. Yeah, it’s a ball. Unfortunately, look, I I think that uh for them to be even in this position, considering all the injuries, pitching staff, it’s it’s been a great run, but the fact that they are even here is a testament to their organization and Joe Espatada and his coaching staff, but I think that they are running out of players and they’re just running out of steam. So, I it’s a ball for me. They do have the they have three games against the Angels this weekend. I’m saying that’s that’s a nice So, is it a ball strike for you? Yeah, I think it’s a ball, but they do have a three. They do have You’re saying it’s nice to be in Anaheim to to play out the ball for you, Joe? I’m going to say ball, but I I’m with Roof Flow on all that. I think Joe Spotter has done a great job. I think they got a little taste of Yordon Alvarez coming back and then he just got it the rug pulled out from under he was in that lineup. I say strike. Yeah. And also recently, Lauren, Jeremy Pñena, he’s been their most consistent offensive player. He’s missed the last couple of games with the with the oblique or soreness there. So, off onto the uh on to basketball. Onto the Texans. How do you feel about the Texans? We we are off the Texans. It’s University of Houston Cougar baseball. Here we go. You go. We go. Uh Phillies, the most dangerous team in the National League. We have talked a lot this show about the Dodgers and Show and how they have kind of worked this to perfection to do what they want to do in the month of October. Are the Phillies still go through the bank? Case, don’t squint. I’m going to get This is a tough one. Yeah, this is a definitely a tough one, but I do think the Phillies are the most dangerous team in the NL. I really do. I I I feel like that’s a strength. I I just love the lineup. I love the star power. I love Schwarber and Harper in the middle of that lineup. Sanchez uh at the top of that rotation. I just I like I like them a lot. I think they’re a really really solid baseball team all around. I think they’re the most dangerous. I I’m with the case here. It’s a strike for me at 100%. And they get Tre Turner back. I do think they got to get him back this week. He needs some at bats to go into because they’re going to have that layoff because they’re going to win the division or be one of the first two teams. So, he needs at bats this week. I mean, I know he can get off trajecers. And I love the way Rob Thompson manages his club. He lets his starters go and Sanchez is so efficient. So, I’m going to say strike. It’s so true that rhythm and timing with Trey like he needs this week and next week they’re just going to be watching. You know, I would normally agree, but after what I heard from Tom Verduchi saying they’re going to put Sasaki in the bullpen maybe in the in the postseason. That changes for you. That changes. I picked the Phillies to win the World Series. But I I just think that the Los Angeles Dodgers, they’re going to just like they figured out how to manage without their without a great starting rotation last year. I think they’re going to figure out that bullpen. We may see Gotani. We may see Sasaki, Blake, Snell, Glassnell. So, they’ll they’ll figure it out. All right, let’s take a quick timeout. When we come back here on MLB Central,

It's not the league's best offensive player. There's another award for that. Cal is the MVP.
Judge is offensive player of the year but Cal is the MVP gold glove defense with more HR and RBI what are we talking about here. If it’s both of them that’s a joke pick one.
If you are going to give the MVP award to the best offensive player, then you might as well get rid of the Hank Aaron and Silver Slugger awards
What offensive stat matters more than runs scored and RBI? Judge has 236 total runs scored plus RBI. Raleigh has 228. Pretty close. But then Raleigh is a full time catcher, and played hundreds of innings in the field more than Judge. Cal Raleigh is the most valuable overall player.
Judge is hitting .326 😅
Should be a split MVP this year.
They can't bring themselves to diss the NY TV market, Cal is the MVP, what happens when he hits 60?? What happens when the M's win the AL West? What happens when the M's get a bye? What happens when the M's sweep the Yankees in the ALCS? What happens when the M's beat the Brewers for the WS, LMAO
The Ms rotation reminds me of the Atlanta Braves rotation of Maddux . Glavine & Smoltz. No one wants to face these arms in the playoffs
Is it valuable for a player to be injured? If so, Judge is the winner.
NYY have deep pockets and will lobby behind the scenes for 'their guy" to win MVP. This is a NO-BRAINER. While Judge stands there and catches fly balls, Cal is behind the plate, directing the defense and the pitchers, while in the crouch position for 9 plus inning. Then there the hitting. first catcher ever to win the MLB Home Run Derby, first catcher to hit 58 HRs coupled with other records for switching hitting and breaking Mickey Mantle's record. If Cal doesn't get MVP, there are issues.
one thing no one talks about is the catchers job to lead and calm down pitchers struggling with command. while the outfeilders stand out in the field waiting for a play, if a pitcher is struggling, the catch has to go up to the mound, put his arm around his guiy and say the right thing at the right time, give that pitcher a breather, and then call for the right pitches to get them back in the game. ive seen cal do this multiple times this year to get guys out of a jam, and on top of all of that mental part of the game, he has to focus on his plate discipline, swing, etc. hes really got two solid full time jobs in that team, while judge has to worry about himself more and his own actions. Cal has to split his attention and emotion between himself and his pitchers. if cal was a position player in the infield or outfield think of how much more time and attention he could pay to his own plate performance. even so, he is STILL clutch as hell and almost at 60 HR on the year.
Clowns 🤡
Tired of y’all haters always locking judge. Damm he’s won already just doing one thing. Where CAL is a two way hitter and a catcher and his impact is more and he has more HRs and RBI which is way more
Important the judge. Just stop hating give it to CAL and do the Right thing!!!!!
It is way harder doing it as a catcher. That is why no catcher in baseball HISTORY has had a season like Cal's. MVP.
Cal for me. Arguably the greatest season ever for a catcher. Breaking all kinds of records and doing it playing of half his games at one of the worst hitters parks. He for sure would be over 60 HR's right now if half his games were not at T-Mobile.
Tired of the east coast bias
Screw MLB Network
Baseball is offense defense catching and pitching. Cal contributes to all 4. Judge just stands in the outfield. Learn the game. Grow some brain cells.
As a big mariners fan i hope Cal wins, the value he provides on defense+the 60 HRs has literally never happened before. Metrics dont pick that up but the one that comes the closest puts them about equal (fWAR); with that said Judge has had such a legendary year too that i wouldnt mind if they tied lol
If Cal Raleigh wasn't a straight white man, all these commentators would be unanimously agreeing that he is the MVP.
How do you win games? Get runs. Who is responsible for more runs. Cal. Who has had the bigger impact on their teams success. Cal. Judge has big numbers but less runs and less RBIs he has less value period.
Judge is the better player. But Cal is the MVP. He catches everyday, plays in a tougher ballpark to hit home runs and still controls the pitching staff! Add in switch hitting and 60 bombs! This is the MVP not the best player award.
Cal is an average catcher this year and he's not even hitting league average. The MLB considering a .240 hitter for MVP is a joke.
Interesting.
