This is not a roster/talent issue. This is a play design/scheme/coaching issue.

  1. Yeah I mean they just… didn’t like up anywhere that allowed them to block the outside rushers. It’s like how you would block a designed QB sneak but Jake dropped back.

  2. This specific picture is what happens when you use a silent count and then wait until 1 second is on the playclock to snap the ball. Super easy for the edges to time the snap and the tackles are just trying not to false start.

  3. Now don’t say that too loud! ZT still has shooters out there and they’ll pester you with irrelevant information in an effort to prove that the issue is everywhere BUT coaching and play calling.

  4. That specific play was doomed from the start (as are a lot of our plays). Of all the HC in the NFL, Zac is the worst at getting the play called in a timely manner. That leads to the play clock dwindling and our offense having to rush. And that leads to either delay of game, blown timeouts, or snapping the ball with zeros on the play clock. When the play clock hits zero, those defenders can time their rush perfectly.

This is an EVERYTHING issue. Coaching, scheme, players, etc… I do find it interesting that every time we sign a serviceable O Lineman, they immediately regress. Every effing time. We need to rethink how we play offense and scheme blocking

We actually need to rethink a lot of things if we want any shot at just being competitive, let alone winning games

  5. No run game, no TE game, no slot receiver game, no protection, no imagination. Pretty much everything.

  6. Uh, it kind of is a talent issue. I honestly don’t think a ton of blame goes on Browning for last night, but one thing that falls squarely on his shoulders is that he has been completely unwilling or unable to see pressure AND climb the pocket when he should. There is some talent issue here. He also missed a wide open chase in the first quarter that had serious TD potential and did the same thing with Mike G. In the second.

    It’s everything man.

  7. Did anyone see the defensive play where the LB, I believe Logan Wilson, had a free run to the QB but instead of going for the sack he went to hit the OT? I get that was initially his assignment but holy shit you have to use your head, and part of that is the coaching has these guys so confused what to do.

  8. The ball was snapped at the 1sec mark on the play clock, this is less a talent issue on the tackles and more a talent boast on the DE’s for anticipating the snap.

  9. Ever notice that many of these players come into this team and then have worse stats? And then when they sign with a new team, they immediately play much better. Why do you think that is?

This is on the coaching, 100%

  10. We need a dedicated offensive coordinator who is only focused on getting the right plays called on time

  11. Guys, you’re missing the big picture. THAT ONE GUY is so well blocked. Let’s take a moment to appreciate the good things they are doing. That ONE GUY is extremely well blocked. Totally out of the play!

  12. It’s both. The scheme stinks but they also have a significant lack of talent on both sides of the ball outside of the offensive skill positions.

  13. Ok, Karras is definitely supposed to be there, and I guess Perine.

But hat the holy hell are Fairchild and Rivers doing there??

  14. I think it is a roster issue, it was a mistake not signing Chase earlier for less money, same with higgins. Like I don’t think it ever goes well in any sport when players are acting like GMs just look at the Lakers with LeGM running the show. The team has proven many times to find great recievers so I don’t understand why we should spend so much money on them. It is abundantly clear to me that the team is imbalanced and poorly coached.

Don’t get me wrong dispite the losses, the ups and downs of the last few seasons the Bengals are by far the most entertaining team in the league but entertaining doesn’t mean wins or playoffs it means every single game is nail bitingly close and it doesn’t matter if we’re playing the Chiefs or the Browns in Cincinnati no game is ever easy but we always have a shot but that is just not the case without our quarterback playing.

Joe probably thinks he’s a mountain that him and Jamarr can lift mountains and overcome anything together but that is just simply not the case we need a proper team with talent in every area.

At this point I would welcome a tanking season, a Higgins trade, a new coach and a semi rebuild of the team because this isn’t the same team as the one in 2021, 2022 and 2023. It is the 2024 team with a slightly better defense with Burrow playing but while we’re stagnating litterally every single team is just getting better and better like the Broncos or the Colts etc. We need to do what the Rams are doing, take a step back, regroup, rearm and then try to win a Lombardi.

Championships don’t get won by accident it takes multiple seasons of grinding and being solid with solid scouting and drafting smart.

  15. I have to disagree on this play, when both of our tackles (one an All-Pro, and the other a VERY high draft pick) got their asses beat like this simultaneously. Should the guards have helped more? Maybe, but those two are supposed to be two of the best tackles in the league. Our line got beat last night ALL night with basically zero blitz. When they did blitz, Jake got sacked. When they didn’t, Jake got rushed and pushed out of the pocket and threw it away.

  16. Not getting the playcall to the QB in time is not a new thing.

Remember Burrow waving his arms in disgust toward Zac, week 1, before having to burn a timeout?

It’s Zac’s stupid “play calling by committee” that slows things down, and causes confusion and uncertainty.

Andy Reid, he is not. Sean McVay, he is not. At least, not yet. If he wants to be an OC, he should go do that. If he wants to be a HC, he should do that. But he’s not ready to do both, and it has always hurt the team as a result, even in the good times.

Honestly though, Zac’s play calling by committee is just one problem of many with this organization as a whole. But it’s definitely a problem.

  17. Taylor sucks. Everybody already knew that.

His staff sucks. The ownership sucks. The “front office” sucks. Most of the players suck. The franchise sucks. What did anybody expect? Joe Burrow has been a piece of flex tape desperately slapped over organizational incompetence for years.
