There is no player in all of NY sports I want to win a championship more than Judge.

The fact of the matter is, his postseason play hasn’t come close to his season output. To me, it feels similar to A-Rods struggles pre 2009. Arod was regarded as a postseason choke before then, it’s Judge’s time to deliver.

In his postseason career, Judge is hitting .205 w/.765 ops. 16 homers in 58 games. Yes a few playoff moments but not enough consistency.

It just takes one postseason to change it all.

  4. I am far from a judge fanboy. I have my criticisms of him. But I have a good feeling this is the year.I have not had faith in him in the post season but I feel like winning a batting title and being an even better hitter, is going to help.

    He also has much less pressure IMO. Even though last year he had soto and Stanton I feel like the potential of soto outlaying him, could have gotten into his head.

    This year, his supporting cast is much more well rounded. Belli, Stanton and Rice have been very good. Trent and Jazz have been very good. Judge can stay back and think singles to RF. A couple of those early on and look out. He will have a monster layoff.

    It took Bonds a long time to be a playoff performer.

    I rarely make statements like this but I think Judge has a monster playoff. If he does, they will win it.

    If he chokes? In Dongcarlo we will trust

  7. I honestly think not having a long break in between Game 162 and Game 1 will help with his timing. I’m not worried about Judge.

  8. One thing about Judge is that he seems meticulous when it comes to tackling his shortcomings. For example, his K rate has dropped, and his batting average is up. Last year, he got exposure to the entire postseason for the first time, so now he can shake any jitters he might have had.

    He needs to show up. Yes, even against top flight pitchers like Crochet.

  18. He wasn’t rested down the stretch so I’m banking on him having a good postseason.

    Last year he played very few games down the stretch and I think that affects him more since he’s huge.

  19. A Rod actually was clutch and good in the playoffs. He only started to struggle in 2005, and 2006. In 2007 he hit well. In 2009 he was great. And then 2010, and 2011 he was awful but he was past his prime.

  20. Genuinely nobody who deserves to him a monster postseason/ ring more than judge. It’s a fuck ton of pressure and I have no idea how he stay within himself but I hope he gets it done

  21. I don’t think Judge’s performance in the playoffs has had much to do with pressure. Sure, there is more pressure in the playoffs, but Judge is the face of Baseball playing in the toughest town in baseball. He plays the whole year with pressure surrounding him. I think his last two playoffs have seen poor performance because of two things. You face better pitchers in the playoffs and Judge has gone into those two playoffs with a cooled off bat. He not gone into the playoffs on one of his otherworldly hot streaks. He’s hot this time, so don’t be surprised if the Big Man drives for show AND putts for dough.

    We had 2 years in a row I think with Arod up and 2 outs , full count, scoring run on base…….
    And….(insert choke noise here…….) stopped caring until he left.
