You’re damn right it was a message
Inb4 not doing anything again
“The thing I chuckle about is when I see comments (like) “we gotta not show up to send a message that this (here, he laughs) isn’t acceptable to the owners.” I find that somewhat illogical reasoning because we turn this revenue machine into a payroll machine.” – Bill DeWitt III
Wonder if he’s still chuckling
It’s awfully hard to pay for baseball tickets to games you don’t think are going to be any fun to watch. Are these people that far disconnected with how much it costs the average person to go? Then add the hassle of getting downtown, parking walking dealing with the St Louis heat and humidity. It’s just not worth the price of admission
Good. Glad you heard us, now fix things or it will continue.
Tickets are getting more and more expensive and the on field product is getting more and more mid. No shit attendance has been down
Hope he’s still chuckling, he found it so amusing last year.
Didn’t he then go on to talk about concession prices? Buddy. That’s not why people aren’t showing up.
“If”?
10 years ago you could get in for under $10 all around the upper deck and bleachers during the week and be in a mostly full stadium with a competitive team. Now, the cheapest tickets cost $20 for a mediocre product and sparser crowd. Who in earth would be interested in that?
Good boy. Now fix our damn team
Message received, here are raised ticket prices for 2026 🙄
They built their ball park village around the team’s legacy. They are cleaning up in that area, to the point of strangling the current team’s success. Short sighted owners
Lol it’s not a message, bro. We just don’t want to go.
I bought 2 theme tickets 2 rows from the field down the right field line Friday night game for $100, $35 for parking(prepay is 40 on gameday) in the garage right next to the stadium. Bought my own food in, did buy a soda not sure the price on that.
I live 2hr from st louis. Me and the wife go to at least one game a year and we had already been in july but could not pass up that deal.
Buddy the tickets and parking could be $1. Nobody cares if the team is awful.
My team is a joke now…
If he has to question that we’re sending a message, it’s not yet loud enough.
I can live without the Cardinals. Can they live without us?
Here’s the deal. Up thru 2010, salaries were high but payroll could be made thru tv contracts, merchandise, parking, vendors and ticket sales. Then franchise values skyrocket and payroll goes up. DeWitt will never include that value into payroll, yet that’s what it is going to take to be competitive. So when we have a bust on contracts, he wants them to play it out at a loss vs moving on.
That effort is dead. We won’t be competitive without hope and luck. I refuse to support this. Move on from bad contracts and eat it with your huge franchise value. Or sell and get out.
