FULL 9th INNING: Yankees had the bases loaded with no outs vs. Aroldis Chapman and the Red Sox ๐Ÿ˜ณ

Red Sox try to go up one- nothing in this one as Chapman gets set to deal with Goldmid. Look at the numbers for Goldmid, Judge, and Bellinger against a Raldis Chapman. Goldman is two for 12 with four strikeouts. Judge is 1 for three with a K and Bellinger is two for eight with a double. Yeah, but this is a different ais Chapman, right? But we’ve seen this here than in the past. The presence, the confidence, and the way he attacks the zone this year has just been unlike him. Goldman is a massive at bat with judge in the on deck circle and that one almost hit him. Had a major league manager this year tell me the best pitcher in baseball, forget about how many innings they can’t throw or not, is on the mound right now from what he saw this year. [Applause] went with that slider and it’s one and one. [Music] Raldos Chapman, we saw him before the game throwing in the outfield. He’s just physically different than most pitchers. I mean, he’s 6’4, 235, seemingly carved out of granite, and he he is getting better as he’s getting older. Well, think about when the Texas Rangers and he was on that team when they won the World Series. He was not on the circle of trust of Bruce Boji. Not at all. One and one. And Goldmith delivers. He knocks one into right. and Aaron Judge will come up as the tying run. What a moment here at Yankee Stadium in the first of this wildard series between New York and Boston. You think the fans know it? Tying run at the plate, the most prolific home run header past few years is up. [Applause] and Judge hits one hard up the middle. The Yankees in the bottom of the ninth have two men on and nobody out. And a great hitter against lefties and Cody Bellinger coming up. And this is unfamiliar territory now for Chapman. Said it earlier, high leverage inning. What do you do coming back out? So far, Goldmid and Judge have come through and you still have Garrett Whitlock on the bullpen. Any thought to pinch run for Goldman? He’s a good base runner, but he’s out there at second. He’s not the tying run. Bellinger towards the gap. Raphaela will not get it. Dolman could not advance because he didn’t know if he was going to be caught. But the bases are loaded on three straight singles. Those singles come on five pitches and this place is getting off right now. [Music] Andrew Bailey will come on out to talk to Chapman. There have not been many of these meetings with Chapman this year. And Ballinger so good against left-handed pitching. The best left-handed batter against left-handed pitching this year. Fights that pitch off, muscles it in the gap. Base is loaded. Nobody out. Ellinger came in hitting almost 350 with runners in scoring position and he delivered. And now it’s Jen Carlos Stanton time with Whitlock available but not throwing in the Red Sox bullpen. And think about because if he gets Junk Carlo out here, you got two lefties in Jazz Chisum because he came in for defense for Rosario. 18 career postseason homers. They need two to time. [Music] [Applause] Plenty of room in left center field as Raphaela is shaded towards right swing and a miss from John Carlo at an elevated sinker at 100. He’s got to stay up there. If you throw that 100 mph pitch down in the zone, it’s going to get hit and hit hard. High fast ball has become a potent weapon for major league pitchers, especially Chapman this year. He did live up there and he fouled it straight back at 101. Goldmith’s at third after a single. Judge at second after his single and Bellinger is at first. Time called at the plate. There have been many memorable moments in October for Jean Carlos Stanton in pinstripes. [Applause] Not there. Chapman went with a splitter and Stanton is struck out. The first out of the ninth. He’s got three pitches. He can go to the slider or the splitter. You can see right here, the splitter down and away has Stanton way out in front. And when you throw 100 miles an hour, that can happen. You speed him up to slow him down. Again, very good arms in right field and center field. Now Jazz Chisum 0 and one on a 100 mph four seamer. Didn’t start against Crochet because he’s a tough lefty. And Chapman’s no picnic either. Came in actually when they were down. Not up. [Applause] That’s called strike two 101. A lot of the plate. It’s a great point you made though that he came in and usually you see him all warm and sweaty and it’s taken him a while. Then of course he was back on the bench after the eighth inning. Feels a little bit more like the Chapman they’ve seen all year as he has thrown six straight strikes. Those [Music] [Applause] were the two guys that started. They were both outstanding. The 37year-old lefty will not throw as Jazz calls timeout. [Applause] [Music] [Applause] 02 again. A bright really good arm. Goldman at third. He will not tag as that throw comes in. And there are now two down for the Yankees trailing by two with Trent Gisham coming up. Advantage Chapman right here after having struck out John Carlos Dayton. You get the two lefties. Something Aaron Boon wanted to avoid early on and then late falls again. Now it scores trap. So back to the first inning. Go and judge each got a hit and then a strike out and a double play. They each got a hit to start the ninth. They loaded them up and now backto back outs. Gisham takes one just above the zone. [Music] Got a good eye at the plate. Doesn’t chase much. And a very slow and steady heartbeat. 571 average, bases loaded, and he swings and fouels it back. Chapman started off this inning throwing 95. Now it’s 100 plus. It’s got the lather working now though. [Music] [Applause] Wow. [Music] Got a handful of those that have been very close and they have tickled Kzone, but they have not gotten the strike call. Two balls in a strike. Judge is the tying run at second. Knee buckler there evens up at two and two on a slider. [Music] [Applause] He got him. And the Red Sox rally from behind and take game one of this wild card three to one. How about a roll Chapman? Bases loaded, no outs, strike out, wink fly ball to right and strike out again. And then the Paddington pose to put the Red Sox up one game to nothing. Red Sox base running set him up. Soggard’s base running set up their inning. Chapman at the end. Amazing Crochet. Professional outing tonight from Garrick Crochet. In the end, we talk about execution. Alex Cororus’s game plan was executed because Crochet stayed in the game and he handed the ball to this guy. There’s something about elite starting pitching when you can hand the ball over straight to the closer in a Roas Chapman with the splitter with the slider and then Elso Lara dominant. Garrett, what was it like to play in that game? Man, it was unreal, especially there at the end. Uh definitely got everybody up on their feet and it was a fun game, man. Every time that we play play here in New York, it’s uh you’re on your toes the whole game. So, it was very fun. Tell me about watching that bottom of the ninth inning. What’s going through your mind? Chappie is the best closer in the league. Nothing was going through through my mind other than waiting for him to punch punch the three guys out. Um I I think that beyond a shadow of a doubt, we all had a lot of faith in Chappie right there and uh just just glad he was able to lock it down. Looked like a cutter was a really important pitch for you tonight. What’s your thought with that pitch? Uh ju just trying to get in on guys. Um, you know, if I wasn’t getting in with the four seam, then I was at least trying to establish on the hard end with the cutter. You know, it’s been an important pitch for me all year. When you were traded over here, you talked about wanting to play in big games, American League East. What do you like about that responsibility? Yeah, I mean I mean, like you said, this is what you play for. Um, you know, I just wanted to pick the guys up as best I could. You know, I I gave up the lead early and at that point I was just trying to eat innings until uh until we were able to scratch something. Um, you know, tried to keep as many bullpen guys out of it and uh, thank God we had Chappie. How you feeling? One win away from beating the Yankees. Exciting, man. Exciting. Uh, tomorrow’s a new day, though. It’s baseball. We got to come come prepared and put our best foot forward.

  2. Crochet got a different zone called by the home plate ump than Fried did, which led to 20 extra pitches for Fried, who was on pace to go 7 innings. If Fried goes 7 innings, Sox possibly don't score, and Yankees hold on to win. The Yankees are always at an institutional disadvantage with the strike zone and they lead the league this year in strikeouts being called outside of the zone. Should they have scored in the 9th with bases loaded, no outs? ABSOLUTELY…But to say this game was just purely Sox playing good and Yanks playing bad is pure fiction. Umps CLEARLY helped the sox.

  3. Red Sox for the 2 game sweep tomorrow. Lmao ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚lol Hereโ€™s my prediction. Red Sox 11-0 vs New York. Tomorrow nightโ€™s game

  4. This game was intense! Iโ€™m not a fan of either but I have soft heart for Boston. That 9th inning was the best inning in todayโ€™s matches. Chapman is a beast.
