Carolina Hurricanes’ Bradly Nadeau Scores Two in 4-2 Preseason Win
The Carolina Hurricanes win their first pre-season game after a twogoal performance by Bradley Nadau. What did he say after the game and what what did Rod Burnmore say as well following the team’s 42 win to basically cap off their home preseason schedule and their next game at home will actually count. We’ll talk about all that and more on a Monday edition of Lockdown Hurricanes. You’re Locked on Hurricanes, your daily podcast on the Carolina Hurricane, part of the Locked on Podcast Network. Now, the Hurricanes on Sunday night kind of had a simple mix of, you know, some, you know, NHL guys, some veterans, and a lot of it was mainly a lot of the young guys as well. Kane Primo played the entire way. And what really stood out in this game is the fact that like I said, Bradley Nadau scored two of the four goals for the Carolina Hurricanes. One of them being on the power play. There was a a plethora amount of penalties on Sunday night, but the Hurricanes were able to capitalize on one of those power plays thanks to Bradley Nadau. They finished one for five on the night, but their PK did go for six for six. So, you love to see that. Um but to start the scoring off, Felix scorum scored his first goal of the game or first goal of the preseason after a great pass by Eric Robin to see it. But of course, like I said, Nado scores in the power play in the second period to give the Hurricanes a 2-1 lead. Scores, you know, pretty late into the third to make it 3-1. Nashville scores pretty quick, but then once again, Carolina Hurricanes mount a goal of their own. So within a minute and 21 seconds, we had three goals. two by Carolina course with his second of the game and then Charles Alexis Lgo caps it off making 4-2 and that would be the last goal of the game. Hurricanes did outshoot Nashville 38 to 20 but you let’s see it from the it was all youngsters that scored all guys that are probably going to go to the AHL teamm and Alexis Lgo but someone we do have to mention is the fact that Jackson Blake had a really great game for the Canes. He could have had a couple goals himself, but he gets two assists. They get the second start. Nidau gets the first start, but Jackson Blake had he assisted on both of the of the NDO goals. Primary on this first goal, secondary on his second one. So, you know, Jackson Blake, you know, it’s kind of make he’s kind of pushing himself there to be that guy for the Carolina Hurricanes hopefully this season and take that next step. But it was definitely the young guys leading the way. Like I said, Nadell gets a couple goals. His his shot is so angry. like he’s making a point to try to force his way onto the team. We’ll actually hear from him here in a second postgame following the Hurricanes win. We love to hear from Unerstorm scoring goal tapping from Eric Robinson pass and Charles Lux the goat. I’ve been talking about him a lot since the prospect showcase. He’s done pretty well so far in camp and in the preseason as well. I’m very excited to see what he can do for the Wolves and he might be someone to make some noise on the blue in case there is an injury. Knock on wood there isn’t. But he is someone to look for. And Kane Primo, give him a lot of credit after giving up that first goal of the game. You know, early into the first period, he was pretty much locked in. I mean, the second Nashville goal, what can you do about it? But other than that, he was making 10 bell saves after 10 bell saves. And he is showing why the Hurricanes traded for him. And I think he’s going to be a perfect fit for the third string goalie position within the depth chart on the Carolina Hurricanes. So if there is an injury, once again, knock out wood that there isn’t to the starting tandem of coach over Anderson. I feel comfortable with Primo being called up and need to be called upon if necessary because he does have some NHL experience has won in the NHL but he did win 20 games with the Laval Rocket last year with in the American Hockey League and it shows why the Hurricanes traded their 2026 7th rounder form and signed to the one-year deal. He has made a lot of great saves and he’s definitely making himself filled notice. But go back to Nado. What did he say, you know, during the postgame press conference following the Hurricanes win? Well, let’s listen to that with Bradley Nado right now. Kind of feels like you’re getting getting a little more comfortable with every shift. Is that is that kind of how you feel? Yeah, I think um more and more experience to get out there more comfortable feel obviously um just to to play obviously to good players like that helps and um you know just try to keep it simple and and do your job. How good does it feel though to get these pucks to get going? I know you had a lot of good chances the first two preseason games but now you’re finally starting to get a roll. Yeah, I mean a lot of chances and just won’t go in. But I think those are the times that you just try and stick with it and keep shooting and you know they’re eventually going to go in and I think uh tonight you know I saw two go in and hopefully there there’s going to be more and that’s going to keep going. What’ you say? What’ you say to yourself after that first one hit the bar? I know you got you got a little redemption right away, but you had to be like, man, these things just won’t go for me. Yeah, sometimes it feels like that. you just keep shooting and seems that like you just get so unlucky it that’s everything but but going and like I said you just keep shooting and you know it’s eventually going to go in and uh stick with the process and that’s what happened tonight. You got to feel like you’ve done everything you can in camp to make this team had left much out there. Yeah, I mean I’ve you know I only came in here and I wanted to work hard and kind of play my game and I think I’ve done uh so so far. you can always uh you know show uh show how you can play and keep doing the right things, but um you know those small details are are huge and you can never have a perfect game. So it’s the really build on that and try to get all those small details right every time. Aren’t you relishing the opportunity that Rod’s been giving you four preseason games, but also playing with NHL linemates as well? Yeah, I mean it’s been good. Um you know, playing with those guys, they they make it uh easier out there. They they open the eyes for you. They find you in soft areas. Um, you know, it’s been uh it’s been fun to play with those guys, too. Uh, you learn a lot from them and uh, you know, I really, uh, enjoy the experience so far to play with those guys. Now that we’ve only got a couple days left in camp, where’s your head at about two games left? I know you played every preseason game so far, but what’s your mindset? Yeah, I mean you never I don’t know what’s uh what’s happening tomorrow, but it’s just uh you know, keep uh keep working hard till the end and I see what happens there. But um like I said, if it’s a practice or game tomorrow, I’ll see and uh just give all I got and see where things go from there. Big thank you to the Carolina Hurricanes, of course, Bradley Nadell for that. And you can hear from too is the fact that he’s, you know, trying to score goals. he did and he’s trying to take it, you know, one day at a time because he doesn’t know what tomorrow’s going to be. But he’s played in all four preseason games for the Carolina Hurricanes. Has three goals, two on Sunday night. And it you kind of feel like that, yeah, his NHL shot is already ready, but you kind of see like, you know, you want to see what he’s doing on, you know, off puck movement. You know, what’s his IQ looking like? What’s his reading of the plays looks like? And you see it slowly building over time. Keeps getting better and better. And it’s saying something too for the fact that the Hurricanes have given him four games and he’s still producing. So you and you know, you heard me talk about with Mike Vanso last week. It’s like, hey, you know, some guys are cooking. Maybe it’s okay to let some guys bake. But right now, brother Lee is almost kind of pulling a you know, what a Jackson Blake did, what a Seth Jarvis did a few seasons ago. He’s making some noise on the Carolina Hurricanes and they he’s kind of making them be like, “Hey, you know, I we all know I can score, but looks like I’m kind of showing the intangibles right now that you guys are asking of.” And with two preseason games left and some practices, like is Brley Dado kind of on his way to, you know, make, you know, make a case to make the roster? But the thing is, how does he make this roster? This roster is pretty much tight right now in the forward core. And we didn’t even talk about how Kevin Le Bank has been doing. Javanni Smith has been doing pretty good as well. Like those PTO guys are also kind of making a push for the roster spot. So those two along with the dough, there’s going to be a lot of tough decisions for the Carolina Hurricanes. But so far right now like I’ve been like a bell’s game since the Hurricanes draft him out of ticked and he did really well with you know the main Black Bears in the NCAA and of course he played with Chicago scored 32 goals. So Nido has really, you know, over the last couple years has taken some big strides in his game and I don’t know, seems like he’s making a big case for himself to make the Hurricanes roster. Now that being said, we heard from Bradley Nadau, but what did the head coach say following the Hurricanes win? Stick around and we’ll talk about it here in a second on a Monday edition of Locked on Hurricanes. So we heard from belly following the Hurricanes 42 and as he talks about you know great night for him solitude pucks go in the net. you know, now he’s trying to see what Monday looks like for him and, you know, practices after that because he wants to try to, you know, prove that he wants to be on the roster. But it’s ultimate to him. He’s just got to keep putting himself out there and show that he’s doing what the Hurricanes are asking. That said, what did the head coach say following the Hurricanes 42-1? Well, without further ado, let’s listen to Rod Brenmore’s postgame press conference right now. You talked about the opportunity to grab one. How busy to see him, you know, getting those pulls, but also the 200 foot game, the more physically engaged, you see him take the most of the opportunity. Well, yeah, you want to see that and you you want to see the uh progression and I think certainly the confidence, you can see it. Um, you know, when you play with we’re playing with the top guys tonight and shouldn’t look that night, I guess, when you think about it. But, uh, I thought all that you could tell the NHL guys that they had, it should look like that. And putting him in that mix, he he didn’t look out of place there for sure. You had the shortage of goalies for a chunk last year. How encouraged are you by what you’ve seen out of out of Cadence so far and having maybe a number three that can really count on? Well, we, you know, we talk about this a lot. We’re good chance that we’re going to use him at some point just based on the history of it. Hopefully we don’t have to, you know, what we had last year, but very, very important in today’s game. It seems like, you know, the way goalies, just the wear and tear on him to have that guy that we can count on. So, he’s he’s only two starts, but they’ve been both solid. It’s good. Look at Stankov at center tonight. What’s your assessment? Well, he was I mean, I think it might have been the best player for sure both games that he’s played, so that’s good. um you know again the level that he should dominate. Um so we’ll see when we get closer here if we get one more game when what the lineups are like and obviously make us a judgment then you talk about the PTAs this morning. I mean these guys really look like contract literally right that’s well that’s what you would expect. I mean, you know, they these guys come in without security and they’re trying to prove themselves and they’ve all done a real nice job. Could Could you pull Jordo, Marty, and and Carrie out of the pool in like mid July and just have them look like that all the time? Well, yeah, maybe. Not not no not July. Jordan doesn’t start skating so for a while. But I think it’s, you know, nice to, you know, it’s a it’s comfort line, right? like you just get them out there and they do it right and obviously you got a big goal there after they, you know, tighten it up. Big thank you to Rod Burnmore, the Carolina Hurricanes and yeah, you heard it from Rod. It’s, you know, when talking about Bring He just didn’t seem out of place because with the NHL guys, yeah, that’s what it should be looking like when you’re facing an AHL roster and you know, you throw Bradley Nadau in the mix. Okay, how are you going to look like with our NHL guys? and he was with Stanovven and Blake. And I said it too before the game on Sunday. That is a line I’m going to keep an eye on for this game because you’re talking about two youngsters together in Nido and Stan Kovven who are going to their last year of their ELC’s before their contracts with the Hurricanes kick in. And you’re talking about a 20-year-old Bradley Nau who’s trying to fight his way onto the roster and do what these two guys did respectively with their teams at the time they made their NHL debuts. And that line together did score on NDO’s second goal during five on five. Like I said earlier, Blake had two assists both on NDO’s goals. And it’s good to see the fact that it’s like, yeah, this is what you want to see. And the fact that Nau did it with some NHL regulars, it it’s it’s helping his case that he’s not looking out of sorts. He knows where to be in the proper place, knows where to get into open space and score a goal and finish checks and fight hard in battles, too. So, Nidau is definitely showing what he’s been learning over the last year with playing with the Chicago Wolves and Cam Abbott and those guys and then taken into the prospect showcase, training camp, preseason games. It seems like he’s kind of figured out the system for the most part and he’s not looking like a fish out of water. it looks like he belongs to play here. And two, for the fact you hear Logan Stinkov and he’s like, “Yeah, that’s what you’re kind of looking at.” He seemed like one of the best guys out there. Granted, you know, we still got two more preseason games to go. Does he play them? Who knows? But we got practices as well. Know is Stanovven kind of maybe putting himself into the position where it’s like, hey, we might put you at center. Hey, you might be second line center, you know, putting you in the top six. Then it’s like, are you looking at you looking at Blakez’s wingmates? So Stanov is even putting himself in a very good spot where it’s like, you know, the Hurricanes are trying to figure what their TC situation is. You know, they talked about putting Stan Kovven over there and so far in the two games he’s played in, he’s looked pretty dang good. So just like, you know, Dendo is trying to make his spot on the roster has, Stanovven found a way to be like, hey, I’m good on the wing, but I’m also pretty good at center. And maybe maybe they kind of figure out their 2C situation possibly. Who knows? I mean, like I said, we still got a little runways to go still until October 9th, but Stan Coven has really put himself into a good spot. Kane Primo Kane Primo looked pretty good overall and you know, he’s kind of impressed and you know, like I said, showing why he deserves to be there. There’s there’s a lot of guys making their cases um after, you know, Sunday’s win against the National Predators. And the thing too is, you know, Kevin Bank, you know, saw, you know, someone take a liberty with one of his guys. He goes in there, you know, throws him, you know, throws the gloves off, gets gets into a little scrap with Oasis Wise Blat, you know, he’s, you know, he’s making it tough as well for the Hurricanes because with between him and Javanni Smith, those two guys are fighting for some roster spots and they’ve looked pretty dang good as well. And you know after the game of Kevin Le Bankank even said it’s like hey I’m just trying to find a way to you know make an impact and show that I want to be here and you know be you know take the depth and put into another spot too because he knows it’s a great group of guys here in the room already and he just wants to be on the roster. He doesn’t care if he’s a depth guy. He just wants to be part of a contending team and it clearly shows cuz he’s been very noticeable even from the first preseason game back last Monday when I was there. like he really stood out that game and he’s been standing out as the preseason unit’s been going on too. So, you know, we talk about, hey, is Tyson Jo going to be someone that’s going to take the 14th spot or the 13th spot? Right now, I even said it. I don’t even know if Kevin Leank, you know, was going to be able to make the roster even Javanni Smith because I’m like, maybe these are just guys for bodies in preseason because it seemed like the roster is kind of set. As we stand right now on September 29th, Giovanni Smith and and uh Kevin the Bank are kind of proving to me, hey, some people thought we weren’t probably going to make this. We were we were do some extra bodies, but we’re kind of proving ourselves here. And hey, I’m glad to be wrong on that because I didn’t know cuz it seemed like, you know, where the roster was at the time. Like, man, this is this roster is going to be kind of tough to crack into. what are they going to do with Toast or with Jo and, you know, Jenowski and Carrie and all these guys? But it’s like, hey, they’re kind of shown themselves to be, you know, kind of being, you know, guys to possibly consider. So there’s a lot there. The Hurricanes are in a good a great place to be in where they have too many bodies and not enough spots. So it’s a lot better than what we’ve seen in the past where it’s too many spots, not enough guys. So that is great to see. So, we did talk about Brley Nadau game four recaped a little bit. Did listen to Rod Bernmore, what he had to say postgame. And now we are facing forward to Monday’s game against the Florida Panthers as the team goes to South Florida for their penultimate preseason game. And you know what? Stick around. We’ll talk about it here in a second on a Monday edition of Locked on Hurricanes. The NFL season is here and Fandel has an offer you don’t want to miss. All right, so the Carolina Hurricanes go to South Florida as they take on the Florida Panthers in their penultimate game in the preeason. Yes, second to last one. Of course, we all remember the Hurricanes kind of were leading the Panthers and the Panthers came back and won, but luckily it’s preseason. Doesn’t really matter. Game is at 6 PM Eastern. It is going to be on TV, but it’s be part of the Florida Panthers TV coverage on scripts. So, you’re obviously still able to watch it online through hurricanes.com. It’s just possibly ready to hear a lot of Florida Panther stuff, but you know, hopefully we’ll get to hear from Mike and Trip. So, make sure to keep an eye out for hurricanes.com. Puck drop is at 6 pm Eastern. Like I said, against the Florida Panthers. It’ll be very interesting to see what the Carolina Hurricanes do in terms of this game for the fact that, you know, are they going to play some of their big guys in their second to, you know, in their preseason game, you know, as well, mainly for the Florida side for the Hurricanes. Are we going to go with another AHL type roster again? Are we going to kind of mingle in some of the AHL regulars? because we did see the Jordans make their preseason debut, but you know, do we see some other guys, you know, playing some preseason games? Because Chafffield’s still out, Miller still out, Slavven still out? I don’t know if we really see them very much. Do we see Shane Gossiper? You do we see Shan Walker? So, I don’t know. It’ll be very interesting to see what the Carolina Hurricanes do in terms of what their roster is for Florida. It’s a home game. You You might see some of their big boys play. you know, they don’t have Alexander Barov for the season because he did have, you know, knee a knee injury. So, he’s done for the season for the most part from what it looks like. I don’t think he’s going to be back at all. So, that’s one less guy, you know, that, you know, is going to be on the Florida Panthers roster, but they still got a pretty good squad, too. But, you know, are they going to play all their big boys? Who really knows? And like I said, for the Hurricanes, this it’s a tossup. you know, you know, you had a majority of an AHL roster with a sprinkle of, you know, AHL guys in the last home game. Do you go and go with an AL roster once again? Because right now, like Miffikov and Kaisv, you know, both got resigned to Chicago. The only two goalies the Hurricanes have left right now outside of their regulars are Keane Primo and Nikita Quap. and they both just played on well, sorry, Primo played the whole game. Quap was on the bench, but they were still addressed on the Sunday game. Do they go back to those two guys again? And is Quap going to be in goal with Primo being the backup? Most likely. I I don’t see them having Pota or Anderson go on the road to play a road game against the Florida Panthers and whoever they put on their roster as well. So, we could be looking at a very young Blue Line with a young goalending duo. You know, probably a mix of the veteran, you know, AHL guys that maybe were going to go on the road trip. Obviously, the PTO guys, Le Bank, Smith, Chillington, all of them. And then, you know, the usual cast of characters of Under Sorum, Nidau, Robon, those type of guys. If Brandon Dau goes for five games in a row for the preseason, it’s gonna it’s going to be very interesting to see what the Carolina Hurricanes do for him because if he shows out in this game against the Panthers as well, another thing to possibly talk about when it looks at Brandon be like, “Hey, this might be the guy.” Who knows? But like said, in terms of rosters, I know the rosters as of right now have not been put out from the Carolina Hurricanes and it has been posted by Walt Ruff. It might be a little bit later on, who knows? But like I said, it’s going to be very interesting to see what the Hurricanes do in terms of what that could look like going into the game. But either way, I mean, you know, it’s interesting. You get back-to-back preseason games. You finally just came off your first preseason win. It’s at home. Last time, but the next time you’re at home, games count. But you do have two preseason games left. You got this one coming up on, you know, Monday against the Florida Panthers. And then you’re then you have a few days off after your backtoback where you take on the Nashville Predators in Nashville on Saturday. So you basically have Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday off. So you got four days off essentially. And then you take on Nashville in your last preseason game. And then you have the fifth, 6th, 7th, and eighth off. Of course, you got the, you know, you possibly have an off day there. You got some train camp practices and stuff like that. But basically after Monday, you’re talking eight days off in a span of nine days for the Hurricanes until the home opener on the 9th. So this is this is a probably gut check gut check time for a lot of these guys. Like now you got two preseason games left, but after Monday, you got one preseason game left and you got a lot of practices to get through to kind of make your case. So, this is kind of like probably the last push for a lot of these guys to see where they’re at in their development, kind of force the Hurricanes be like, “Hey, take a look at me. Look what I look what I can do.” And I think that’s what’s going to make it very interesting for the Carolina Hurricanes if these PTO guys and Smith can kind of show themselves. Do they kind of uproot Jo and you know you know do you do they push for someone else to add another four to the crew or does one of these guys sign a one-year two-way and start in Chicago and you know being a possible option for a callup maybe maybe one of them does make the NHL roster maybe push pushes Jo down who knows Brley Nau make some noise and be like hey I want to be on this roster but then it’s like where do you kind of play him he’s 20 years old and Mike Moscow not going to say it’s like, hey, let this guy bake a little bit. He doesn’t need to be ready right now. And yeah, I’d rather him get top line minutes in Chicago to start the season than probably bottom, you know, bottom six, fourth line minutes. Like, I don’t see that being really a a reasonable like why bring him up to slot him into the bottom six play with the Jordans? I don’t really see that happening. You know, do you play Bradley Nadell with Kanye and Robinson? Maybe. But at that point, like I said, just play them top minutes. So, it’ll be very interesting to see how it plays out against Florida. I said, well, the roster hasn’t really been put out yet by the Hurricanes or Walt Ruff. So, maybe when you guys do hear this, we know what the roster looks like. Of course, we’ll probably know by, you know, sometime in the morning before the team travels of what the game ro, you know, the lines might look like even for the non-game day guys and the game day guys. So, who really knows? But either way, at least we got another weekend done. We’re moving into another week and we are ever so much closer to the start of the regular season. I don’t know about you, guys, but I am so ready for it to be here. It’s It’s kind of taken forever, but it’s kind of good that we are so close to the start of the 25 26 season. Like I said, I’ve been pretty impressed with a lot of these guys in the preseason so far. And it’s kind of crazy that we’re going into the last week, the last full week of training camp. And, you know, we already saw two names get cut from the roster. you know, throughout the week, do we see more guys getting not necessarily cut, but reassigned to junior teams, to age old rosters, to probably some releases if some of these PTO guys don’t work out. So, get ready for a crazy week of just, you know, possible signings or reassignments and all that stuff. But, at least we know we’re getting another day closer to the start of the regular season. Games are going to start to count and we know where everyone’s going to be at when the season starts. and it’s going to be a wild ride, but I’m ready for this season to begin. The Carolina Hurricanes hosted the Nashville Predators in their final home preseason game of 2025, and what a way to close out the home slate. Bradly Nadeau scores two goals en route to a 4-2 win, along with tallies from Charles Alexis Legault and Felix Unger Sorum. What else helped the Hurricanes win their first preseason game of 2025, and at home no less? On the Monday Edition of Locked On Hurricanes, host Zach Martin begins the show by discussing how Nadeau showed why his shot is NHL-level already and is making a strong case to make the Hurricanes’ roster. He’s scored three goals in the preseason, and two on Sunday night helped. What did he say after the game?
