Goran is a great mentor for this kid, definitely some similarities in their games.
Can we hire Goran already?
Still early on, G-league would be good for him to get some real on-ball reps and get used to the pace. The Herro injury might force our hand to play him a bit earlier than expected but could also be a good thing as well.
Early season tape, especially on the defensive end, and a G-league stint right afterwards seem to be a vital development process this Heat organization lives by.
Glad to see Goran’s experience isn’t just wasting away and he’s able to mentor and train young players. He has so much knowledge it would be a crime to let that go to waste here in Miami.
Give this man a coach/trainer contract and make it official
Can’t wait for him to be part of the ORG.
Better that he showed where he needs some improvement during summer league and that can be where he focuses on improvement now. It might be a good thing that summer league may have been a bit humbling and better that he not be cocky coming in and be incentivized to put the work in to improve now rather than later.
His defense was surprisingly good (given how down people were about it in scouting reports) and I do remember that he had some really nice passes that just weren’t caught and led to turnovers or that the receiving player then wasn’t able to score with, so no assists. Given some time to build up some team chemistry and getting used to how everyone plays, those problems may go away.
As the season hasn’t started yet and nothing has shown me otherwise, I have a ridiculous amount of optimism right now :).
