🚨ALERT: 49ers Get NEW Breaking News Before Playing Rams On Brock Purdy & Ricky Pearsall + Trade News

Here we go. Coming up on today’s San Francisco 49ers report. I’m Chase Senior. So glad all of you are hanging out here with me on this Wednesday, October 1st, we have a new Brock Pretty injury update. Ricky Persaw news looking ahead to Thursday’s game against the Rams. San Francisco is a banged up football team on a short week and how this NFL news impacts San Francisco and the decision they could make looking ahead to the NFL trade deadline. Before we get to all of that, we’ll be live tomorrow night, Thursday Night Football, Niners, Rams, NFC West rivalry. We’ll do a pregame show. We’ll be live during the game. Then, as always, we’ll be live for a postgame reaction as well. Don’t forget to hit that subscribe button. But most importantly, hit that bell icon, turn on your notifications. Therefore, whenever I push out a show like this, whenever I go live, you will be notified. We’ll catch you tomorrow night. But in the meantime, let’s get this show underway right now. [Music] So, I mentioned that the 49ers are a pretty banged up football team. This whole list of players did not participate in the only Niners practice of the week. Again, short week, have to travel to the Los Angeles area to Sofi Stadium. And so, the Niners were on the field only one time in their preparations for the Rams. And these following players did not participate. Ricky Pierce knee, Jordan Watkins calf, CJ West thumb, Robert Beal ankle, Brock Pury with the lingering turf toe, and Joan Jennings ankle and ribs, but pretty much his whole body is hurting. These players limited in practice. Renardo Green neck. He did not play against Jacksonville. And I thought Derell Lutter Jr. held up okay. Yet Gross Moss knee, this is the reality for him. He’s not going to practice, but he is going to play in games. He could play defensive end, defensive tackle. He’s had a solid season, but unfortunate that he’s not able to hit the practice field. This one is a little bit of a concern. Dwinners not part participating in practice due to a knee injury. We know how impactful he’s been at that linebacker spot alongside Fred Warner. They have really formed one of the top linebacking one-two punches across the NFL because of his emergence and his development. And then Mel Williams, we saw him get banged up a couple couple of times the last couple of weeks. He was limited in practice because of a wrist and oblique ailment. And in prep for Thursday’s game against the Rams, this is because the Niners didn’t have a lot of days to prepare for Los Angeles and because they’re a banged up football team, this was the only NerS practice of this week before going to the LA area. And so I want to emphasize that because the fact that those players did not practice is not a great sign that they’re going to be able to turn around, get healthy, and be able to play on a short week. This is important because of the injury news to Brock Perie and how he kind of reagravated the turftoe against the Jags. I don’t think he ever should have played. M. Jones is not on the injury report. So many people were saying me when I said on Sunday M. Jones should have played. Brock Pury was not right. Well, Chase, M. Jones could barely even walk around. He wouldn’t have been able to play. He was too banged up. Well, on Monday, he was listed as a full participant if the Niners were to have practiced. And then on Tuesday, he’s not even on the injury report. That tells me he was healthy enough to play on Sunday. And I think the Niners miscalculated that entire situation. There’s also this. We’re not sure which quarterback is going to play on Thursday. I’m pretty sure it’s going to be M. Jones and not Brock Pury. I think that’s the smart decision. But does Pury playing come down to pain tolerance? Here’s what Kyle Shanahan had to say. No, it’ll come down to we feel and if we feel he can play up to 100% of his ability and do we feel like he can protect himself with it? Seriously, I mean, Brock Pury was not 100% going into that Jacksonville game. He didn’t look or play like he was 100% playing the Jaguars. Why is that the process now? But that wasn’t the process going into the Jacksonville game. Pretty should have never played in that game and because he was hurt. And with how M. Jones played the prior two weeks, I think M. Jones would have given San Francisco a better opportunity to win. But now that Perie made those mistakes, he was airmilling passes because he couldn’t set his feet or drive off that bad foot and he threw a couple of turnovers and interceptions which directly impacted the Niners ability to win the game. Now San Francisco is saying, “Well, we want him to be 100% and know that he can operate this offense.” I mean, come on. That should have been the decision-making process going into the Jacksonville game. Here’s what Brock Party said about his toe injury. I feel a lot better, especially compared to week one for sure. Just a little bit sore from the game, but nowhere near as bad as after the Seattle game. If I can play this game, I’m going to play. Obviously, I want to get right and healthy and everything, but we need to win this game against the Rams. That’s how I’m looking at it. He also said when he said this on Tuesday that if the game were on Tuesday, he would not be able to play. Here’s my take on this. There is no reason to play Brock Perie against the Rams. He was not 100% not even close to it against Jacksonville and his play was impacted because of the injury. Give the toad 10 days to rest. San Francisco plays on Thursday against the Rams. Then they have to travel to Tampa and play the Buccaneers in week six. You get that mini buy. Use that mini buy to your advantage. Play M. Jones. M. Jones has shown that he can run this offense and play well. He gives you a better chance to win compared to an injured party. And I also don’t want Pertie playing behind a bad Ner’s offensive line against a great Rams defensive line. This turf toe has a high risk of reinjury and reagravation. That’s what happened when Pretty played again. Then he came into the facility on Monday and said, “I’m pretty sore.” On Tuesday, he said, “I wouldn’t be able to play today.” He needs to rest. So rest him. As far as Ricky Pearaw goes, he is not expected to play because of a deep bone bruise and a PCL sprain. So, the Niners wide receiver core probably going to be without Ricky Pearaw and without Jawan Jennings. So, the top wide receivers for San Francisco probably going to be Demarcus Robinson going up against his former team Kendrick Bourne, Skyore, and Marquez Valdis Scantley going up against the defense which is statistically one of the top defenses in the NFL. It’s unfortunate. I’m tired of talking about it, but the injuries are reoccurring and this has become the sad reality of the 49ers. They may as well change their logo to this because they are always a hurt, banged up football team and they can’t escape the injury bug. Still to come here on the show, how this NFL news impacts the 49ers going into the NFL trade deadline. We’ll get to that coming up just around the corner. But first, today’s sponsor, our friends at Price Pick. We appreciate Price Picks for making today’s 49ers report possible, the number one daily fantasy sports app. And they have some new features here. Prize Picks is the only app that offers stacks, meaning you can pick the same player up to three times in the same lineup. Christian McCaffrey more than 48 and a half receiving yards. And then Puka, he has 503 receiving yards the first four games. Let’s go with more than 97 and a half. So, here’s the deal. You got to download the app. And when you do that, use the code CLNS to get $50 in lineups after you play your first $5 lineup. That’s code CLNS to get $50 in lineups after you play your first $5 lineup. Prize picks. It’s good to be right. So, some NFL news on Monday and really something that we’re going to continue to monitor, which does impact San Francisco to a certain degree. And on Monday Night Football, we had that double header between the Jets and the Dolphins. There was that other game between the Bengals and the Denver Broncos. And I was on Trey Hendrickson watch, and I know a lot of you are with me on that. I was watching the Bengals to see if they would win, how they would play, how Drake Jake Browning would fare with Joe Burrow out until December, and how Trey Hendrickson would play as well. Now, Hendrickson did not do a ton in that loss to Denver 28 20 uh 28-3 the final score there. But the Broncos offensive line, one of the best units in the NFL. I don’t think that Trey Hendrickson has great complimentary pieces around him. While he didn’t play well in that week four game, he has played well for the majority of this year. And I just don’t see a scenario. I don’t see a reality in which the Bengals are going to be able to survive without Joe Burrow and be a playoff team until he comes back from that turf toe surgery that he recently underwent. He’s not going to come back until December. You’re telling me that this Bengals offense with how bad they’ve looked in the last two games against Minnesota and against Denver can even stay close to 500? I don’t see it happening. And against Denver, they picked up 159 yards of offense, 3.7 yards per play. Jake Browning and the pass game, 14 of 25 for 106. They ran the ball 15 times for 53 yards, 3.5 yards per carry. their time of possession. They were dominated there, only held the Rock for 22 minutes. You think that Bengals team with how they looked can survive until December? I think that they are going to be sellers going into the deadline and everybody should be hoping that the Bengals are going to be sellers going into the deadline because if they are, that makes Trey Hendrickson a realistic trade target. It makes Trey Hendrickson expendable and it makes him available. The Bengals have shown what they think of him and what their plans are. He’s not in them. He wanted a long-term contract extension. They didn’t give it to him. They gave him a pay raise for 2025, but they didn’t give him a deal beyond 2025. He took that pay increase for this season because why wouldn’t you? He had no more guaranteed money left on his deal. If they continue to lose, Hendrick Hendrickson can say, “Look, you didn’t give me the long-term deal. I want to go somewhere where I can win. It’s not going to be here because you showed me with your actions that you don’t want me here. If the Niners want to trade for me, I want to go there. And I don’t think that the price tag for Hendrickson is going to be as high now as it may have been this off season for a player who has led the NFL in sacks the last two years with 17.5 in 2023 and 17 12 in 2024. And what I said going into the Jaguars game, the Niners weren’t going to make a trade last week, right? Right after the Nick Bosa injury, they were going to see how the defense would play, how the defense would perform, how the defense would fare without Nick Bosa. Well, how did they do? Obviously, they gave up some explosive plays on the ground, and the defense wasn’t the reason why San Francisco lost that game. Brock Pury, the drops, the turnovers, special teams, those are the reasons why. But on defense, it didn’t help that you gave up some big plays on the ground and you did not generate a quarterback hit or a sack in a game for the first time since 2015. This isn’t sustainable for San Francisco. They’re going to have to make a move to upgrade that edge rusher spot. How did Bryce Suff look? I told you it’s one thing when you’re Robin, it’s a different thing when you’re Batman. He was Batman against the Jags, but he didn’t play like that because he was the one now getting double teams. So, San Francisco, I think, when you look ahead at this Niners schedule, might need to make a trade sooner rather than later. Obviously, they’re not going to make one in the leadup to this week five game against the Rams. Probably not going to happen when you play the Buccaneers, but you do have some time to gauge and measure where your defense is at. You’re going to have a mini by week between the Rams game and the Buccaneers game, right? 10 days in between these two. So, if you struggle against the Rams and you can’t generate pressure on the quarterback once again and Matthew Stafford picks you apart, but you’re still competitive, showing that you can compete, if you have an upgrade at the pass rusher spot, that’s when you have to get serious about maybe making a trade. Then you have the Falcons on Sunday Night Football. You’re on the road against the Texans. I would say winnable game for Atlanta, winnable game going up against Houston. Two tough games here. Then you’re on the road playing the New York Giants. That’s winnable. You play the Rams again. Huge NFC West game. After week nine going into week 10 is when the NFL trade deadline is. And then you think about the other games upcoming, right? Cardinals becomes a huge game inside the division. Winnable game against the Panthers, winnable game against the Browns. You have your buy in week 14. That’s another rest week for your team. But for that trade piece to get acclimated with the defense, winnable game against the Titans, winnable game against the Colts, winnable game against the Bears, huge one against Seattle. And that Seahawks team looks really, really good. So the ners have some time to make a move, but I think they have to make a move and pounce earlier as compared to later. 1. How do you know it wasn't the same process last week? If Mac says I'm really in pain, why would you play him? Especially if Brock says I'm feeling good.

  2. Add CMC to the receiver room because he had a hundred yards last week. Expect a lot CMC targets. They'll spread it around for the third week in a row as well.

  3. Just hope that next week Brock is either a 100% participant or an early “out” designation. I’m tired of this game time decision BS.
Niners have a 3 week window here where they have time to get right and get healthy. Next week we’ll have Kittle back. Hoping Brock will be able to play cus lifetime he destroys the Bucs.

  4. Yeah isn't that injury crap weird for every year you'll!!? And we can only expect to see that every year again. UNLESS THEY LEARN HOW TO FOCUS ON THE FIELD TO AVOID SUCH INJURIES <<<<FOCUS>>>> Until then it can only get better. Yell it at the stand fans… FOCUS!!!

  5. Preseason, they’d play a quarter. Get banged around, take it easy the next preseason game. And the next.

Now it’s no preseason because what if?

And so it’s full games.. getting roughed up completely..too much to play the next game

I don’t know if lack of PreSeason is bad or good. I get the nightmare of a possible injury preseason though…

however maybe just do a set of downs?

  6. The niners dominated the jaguars last Sunday and only lost because of the turnovers. The jaguars are very good this year and they will likely make the playoffs. We have a deep team and nobody goes undefeated. We will probably lose 3 to 6 games this year and make the playoffs.

  7. The Niners have had major injuries with their QB, RB and WR every year. This couple years Kittle has been hurt too. There is one thing in common each year, that terrible O Line. I don’t understand why the front office failed so badly to improve the O Line year after year.

  8. Thanks Chase. We do need to generate a better pass rush. Right now Bryce Huff is out on an island. He can be double teamed or chipped. That leaves others at 1 on 1. No one is getting to the QB. We need that disruption coming from the other end. I don't see us beating the rams at less than 100%. Period.
