Miami Heat forward Nikola Jovic has agreed to a four-year, $62.4 million rookie contract extension with the franchise, Jeff Schwartz, Sean Kennedy and Jared Mucha of Excel Sports Management tell ESPN. Jovic averaged a career-high 10.7 points last season as his Heat role elevates.

Well I guess that answers the question of whether or not he’s in the starting lineup moving forward.
Guy has an incredible agent good for Jovic man
Feels like a reasonable deal
NIKOOOOOOOO
Interesting. This has a bit of Patrick Williams feel to it. I don’t rly think he’s proven enough ngl. I just don’t like teams banking on a bit of upside for guys who haven’t shown that much consistently. 4 year deal, the salary is going up so it’s fine but if he doesn’t pan out which is a possibility then eh. He also struggles to stay healthy. The more I look at it, I don’t like it.
Wigs is not going anywhere. All Star season incoming.
Fantastic deal for the heat
Heat just love handing out contracts. This man hasn’t played 50 games in season in his career and isn’t elite at anything.
Dude got paid, congrats to him
Love me some Niko. I hope he stays healthy and continues to improve his game.
Call me crazy but it feels early to commit that much money to him. Jaylen Nowell averaged 10.8 in 22-23 in 65 games and he’s done nothing in the league since. (Jovic is 10.7 in 46)
Not cheap
Can’t really tell how to read this guy yet. I still lean on the side of – he has a ton of potential
Good contract on both sides. Hopefully means he’ll take the next step because we need it. This roster is not so good looking
nice
I know, I know….its 2025 and 15mil is a very minimal amount of the cap blah blah blah…..I know, but like what has he done to prove he’s worth even that?
Whoa. I did not see this coming. Basically another rookie contract.
I read that as Jokic and did a major double take thinking I’d missed a wild off-season move
I would’ve just taken it to RFA.
That’s probably going to end up a bargain
I feel like they overpaid. Is Jovic a $60M type of player?
Or is this based on potential and future return on investment?
I gotta keep reminding myself that Jokic and Jovic are two different people
This dude has the MOST CONFUSING name, one letter off from Joker
Tradeable I guess? He was supposed to be their breakout young player and had a very underwhelming season….well all their players did I guess.
I feel like this sub and the average fan just meme him given some of his performances in playoffs or whatever, but he has gotten better every year and his usage needs to be higher for this team to really succeed.
Meh. Bro is always out due to some injury, and he’s a ”shown flashes” type of player when it comes to his points and playmaking(defensive liability). I dont know, its his 5th year and bro hasn’t done anything of note
Had to re-read that lol. Like they traded WHO?
62M for Jovic…
He was terrible in eurobasket…like to the point I was wondering how he is in the NBA.
This guy’s name baits me every single time
I feel like I haven’t seen much from him to warrant that but then again I don’t follow the heat that closely. Is this good heat fans?
Don’t know what kid has done to get this type of extension.
Miami is going back to capping out with a mediocre team like the pre Butler era.
Was listening to the Zach Lowe podcast just earlier today, and I think this is perhaps even a touch higher than what Zach predicted.
Jovic is definitely worth it though.
Did pat Riley misread the name on the contract? 62m?!
Seen the headline elsewhere and it confused the shit out me. I was like is this a typo does he mean *Jokic is signing for $62M a year for 4 years & not 4yr, $62M ? Then I thought “holy shit Jokic is on Miami!” Then it clicked that it was about **Jovic**.
I don’t why I read that as Jokic
Totally didn’t freak out thinking it said jokic signed with Miami. Not at all.
Not gonna lie, I’m a little high and I read the notification and was wondering wtf Jokic was doing signing with the Heat.
Saw Miami Heat, Nikola and 62 million and my heart dropped for no reason 😭
