Another Summer to Remember | S2E1 | Primetime Panthers
On this all-new season premiere of Prime Time Panthers, we travel around the globe as we relive some of your favorite Panthers Stanley Cup days. I always uh try and give the best experience I can. Uh people say not to meet your heroes and uh if someone sees me as that, I like to, you know, give them the best experience I possibly can. From St. Louis. Yeah. Why don’t you why don’t you close it a little bit and then take it through the window. getting locked up to north of the border. You know, bringing it back to Canada is always special. You see the reaction of everyone, you know, it certainly adds to, you know, the moment and makes it feel that much more special to across the pond. A little family time there. A little more calm. Really enjoyed that. Buckle up for a spectacular trip around the world on the season premiere of Prime Time Panthers. [Applause] [Music] [Music] Prime Time Panthers is presented by Anna Jar and Lavine accident attorneys. The Panthers begin to celebrate. Red down. Stanley staying in South Florida. Last year was greatness. This time it’s historic. The Florida Panthers are back to back Stanley Cup champions. Alexander Bara. Let’s do it again. 359 days later. There’s your MVP and leading goal scorer. He hands it off to Matthew Kachchuck. The Florida Panthers continue to celebrate their second consecutive Stanley Cup championship 5-1 victory in game six over the Edmonton Oilers. Welcome in to the season premiere of Prime Time Panthers. I’m Katie Englesen. It was a busy offseason for your Florida Panthers who celebrated yet another Stanley Cup championship. On this week’s episode, we are taking you around the globe and we begin in St. Louis, Missouri for Matthew Kachchuck’s day with the Stanley Cup. Normally they say save save the best for last, but I think when it comes down to this, the best part of my day is this first stop. Children’s Hospital special for our family. Um, ever since my dad played, so going to let the kids see the cup. Do you want me to carry it starting from here? Do you want? Yeah. Yeah. How are you, buddy? Hopefully, this will make you feel a little bit better. All right. It’s the greatest trophy in sports right here. Isn’t it awesome? Right here. And then right here for me. This is Matthew. How are you? Oh my god. [Music] Yeah, of course you can. You guys touch it. You both got to touch it, too. So, I just found out that when I was like six or seven years old, my parents took me to the Hockey Hall of Fame and I touched it. And up until last year, I never knew that I did cuz I, you know, you don’t believe like you got, you can’t touch it unless you win it. I’m like, I touched it early. There’s no jinx there. Seeing the kids, seeing their faces, seeing their smiles, I think the rest of us, you know, don’t really truly understand what they’re going through. And there’s some really hard tough days for them. But if I can have, you know, one minute of their day, that’s just that makes it, you know, such an incredible experience for them. That’s what it’s all about. Here, you want to hold it facing it this way. Yeah. Just like that. I’m a huge first responders guy. Hello, officers. How are you guys? How are you? Good to see you. And I’ll be right here. I like to have the the ring out on this side. That’s why. Can I touch it? Of course you can. Give it a hug. Do whatever you want. Great to see you. Great to see you. Yeah, it’s really really cool. Detailed. They did an unbelievable job. Fantastic. Yeah. Take one in the snow. Yeah. Why don’t you Why don’t you close it a little bit and then take it through the window? Get locked up. They have such a tough job and I don’t know if they get the respect that they deserve from everybody else, but they certainly have it from me. We’ll just start Monday morning quarterbacking it. Me. Ellie, get ready. All right, mom, dad, Taran. All right, Taran, see you. All right, Ellie, peace. Madison, Ellie, Chris, Steph, get ready. Oh, you’re really good at this. All right, back in, guys. Then we’ll do one with Ellie and just me, Ellie, and them two. All right, Chris, get out of here. Good guy, though. Chris, get ready to come back in here for one. All right, Chris, get in here. Tyler Steph, let’s go. Twoose on this one. Choose on this one. And then let me hold it for one. All right, I’m going one more by myself. So, we’re off to Obie Clark’s right now. My favorite and best restaurant bar in uh St. Louis. It’s like kind of like my neighborhood bar. We haven’t given too many people the heads up to just like close family and friends. And we’re going to see how this goes. [Applause] [Music] [Applause] This is kind of like the cherry on top. It’s what an incredible year it was. Just I don’t know, that trophy is so special and it just it makes everything the the playing through all this stuff, it just makes it all worth it. Time for our first break here on Prime Time Panthers. Coming up next, we head north of the border to Vancouver to check in with Sam Reinhardt. For Sam to be able to bring the cup back and share it with a number of institutions, a dream come true and a privilege that I don’t think Sam or his teammates take for granted. Don’t touch that remote. Prime Time Panthers on Script Sports will be right back. [Music] Welcome back to the season premiere of Prime Time Panthers. Up next, we’re heading north of the border to check in with Sam Reinhardt and his day with the Stanley Cup. [Music] to have this opportunity again. You know, there’s no better spot. And this is where it all started in West Vancouver where I grew up. This cup feels much different just cuz, you know, you you you realize how hard it is. You never knew if you’re going to have another opportunity to be here and spend time with it. So, you know, you don’t take it for granted. You know, bringing it back to Canada is always special. You see the reaction of everyone. you know, it certainly adds to, you know, the moment and makes it feel that much more special. It’s a great experience for Sam to be able to bring the cup into Vancouver and we’ve always said it takes a community and uh we’re thrilled to be back here sharing it with everyone. [Music] Okay, everybody, let’s get a huge West Vancouver welcome. [Applause] [Music] Yeah. first off uh to the Vancouver Search and Rescue and West Van Police Department. Um quite an entrance. Appreciate all the support today. You know, to have this opportunity to come back here and and do this again is is is pretty special to me. You know, if you look at my career, it’s it’s it’s the environment I’ve been in has allowed me to have this success. You know, I think that uh speaks to growing up in West Vancouver here. You know, all the opportunity in the world growing up here. So, means a lot to come back here and be able to share this with you. So, thank you all for coming out. Thanks, Sam. Yeah. Woohoo. All right, let’s do it. Go. Let’s go. Thank you very much. Ronald McDonald House and we’re going to the courtyard right now. How are we doing? Good morning. Congratulations. Thank you very much. What’s up, buddy? You want to put the ring on? No. You want to hold it? Yeah. This is You want to show You want to show the camera your ring? How we doing? Do you want to put the ring on? Yeah. Do you want to wear that? Yeah. Yeah. You know, seeing the children, seeing the families. Um, you know, I think this ring was worn about by about a thousand or 2,000 kids today. For Sam to be able to bring the cup back and share it with a number of institutions, Children’s Hospital, Ronald McDonald home, of course, that’s special just because of what it means to him, but a dream come true and a privilege that I don’t think Sam or his teammates take for granted. It’s it’s a difficult thing to do. And uh this is just part of the celebrating of what they succeeded in all year. Just the support I’ve had from friends and family has has made this day um just as good, if not better, than the first one. Two years in a row with the Stanley Cup means lots of options when it comes to eating or drinking out of the bowl. What would you choose if you had the chance? We know what the Budweiser horse would choose. We caught up with some of the Panthers to talk about year two. [Music] Is there anything unique that you ate or drank out of the Stanley Cup this year? Well, I was eating salmon soup again. I did last year, so I I had to keep the tradition going. So, we had the Swedish uh cinnamon buns again uh like we did back home in Sweden. My mom was here again, so we bake them in the morning and we we keeping the tradition. What was the best thing that you drank out of the cup? Probably iced coffee. I’ve had lot I’ never had iced coffee out of the cup before, so it was a first. My favorite thing that I’ve eaten out of the cup was my mom’s like famous homemade lobster pie. That is like my favorite dish she makes, so we got to have that. And you’re a big cereal guy. Yeah. So, I did that the year before, the cereal. I actually didn’t eat that out of the cup this year. Oh, we ate some pasta out of it again. A lot of champagne and beer was uh was on the menu for us. What was the best thing that you ate or drank out of the cup? I had a blizzard out of the cup. That was pretty darn good. In 11 when we won, I ate Cinnamon Toast Crunch. So, we had to replicate that with my siblings. Yeah. But Blizzard was probably the thing that I enjoyed the most out of it. How many Blizzards were consumed this off season that day? About 10. Uh, there was a couple dozen, I’d say. Yeah. [Music] Time for a short break here on Prime Time Panthers. Coming up next, we stay in Canada with Sam Bennett and Aaron Ecklad. Prime Time Panthers is presented by Anna Jar and Lavine, accident attorneys. Take back control of your life. Call 1 800747 free. Keep it locked. Prime Time Panthers on Script Sports. We’ll be right back. [Music] Welcome back to Prime Time Panthers. Our next stop on our Stanley Cup tour takes us all the way to the other Canadian coast in Ontario where Sam Bennett posted his special day. [Music] So, we just walked into the hospital. We’re heading up to the uh children’s center and uh going to bring the cuff to some kids today. Can’t believe I haven’t even pulled it out yet. I know. What’s wrong with you? Congratulations. Awesome. Thank you very much. [Music] It’s amazing. I mean, it’s the hardest trophy to win for a reason. And it feels is just as incredible as winning the first. So sweet. It is. Hey, how’s it going? And what’s your name? Nice to meet you. Yeah, that’s a good high five. Yeah, put your hand right on it there. That’s cool. We have a connection. Both my mom and my wife’s my mom worked there at that hospital. And you know, anytime you get to bring the the cup to to meet um you know, some kids that aren’t doing so well or you know, just brighten someone’s day, it means the world. You guys want to see the Stanley Cup? It feels bumpy. It is bumpy. That’s all the names of the players that won it. Is that pretty cool? Do you know who else won it? This guy. My name’s on it twice, actually down here. Okay, fair enough. A fresh newborn. Holy, that’s amazing. You guys want to want to put the baby in the cup? Let’s do it. We got a bunch of new babies this year and some excited um family members. You guys want to put the baby in the cup? Absolutely. We’ve got a couple hat. So cute. We’re heading to uh my grandmother’s old age home now. She’s 94. You go. Congratulations. Beautiful. Thank you. Thank you guys. That’s awesome. What’s up, guys? How’s everyone doing? Hi, Grant. How are you? Having fun. Great to see you. This is awesome. I think it meant a lot to her. She was laughing. Her friends here were all coming up to her being like, “Today’s the big day.” And yeah, everyone here was was really excited. How’s it going? Hi, Christina. I know your grandmother very well. Great. That’s awesome. Come on, Grant. Last year she was able to to come to our cup party and she actually got to drink some champagne out of it which was pretty cool. But uh this year she wasn’t able to to make it so I thought I’d bring it to her. My grandma still texts me after every game congratulating me on two games and yeah she she means a lot to me. It was great to see you. Great to see you again. [Music] [Applause] It’s the greatest part about winning is how amazing it is to share it with with your family and your friends and the people that supported you throughout your whole career. As a dad, I’m just proud. He plays the way hockey should be played. It’s always been his compete level that makes me love watching him play. It’s been a crazy ride the last couple years. You know, it’s a lifelong dream to to win the Stanley Cup and and now, you know, getting to win it twice is is just incredible. And with the team we got, I I think uh there’s definitely a couple more in our future. Just a hop, skip, and a jump from where Sam hosted his day, Aaron Egglad had his opportunity to share it with some special people. [Music] Cure first is always near and dear to the heart and uh to be honest it was just as emotional this time around but uh truly amazing. It’s never an easy thing to create what we’ve done in in Florida, but uh there’s a ton of relief that we we won the first time, but I’ll tell you the hunger uh sticks with you and we have a window to continue to win and and we’re, you know, doing everything we can every day on our own and as a team to continue to do that, continue to win. So, we’re built for uh success. There she is. Have a good day. Thank you very much. Thank you. A it’s good to see you again. Heavier every time. I don’t know what it was, but even picking it up today, it felt heavy. My wrist started to hurt, but no, it’s it’s all good. It’s uh it’s uh it’s weightless in that moment uh after the game for sure. Hey guys, look what’s here. I knew Sam Bennett was doing his cup day up in uh Msoka. Um so I figured I would do it somewhere close. makes it easy on the cup keepers, but also being so close to Barry, I wanted to make sure that I was able to come back and uh give back to the community in a way and also uh you know the ownership and the organization who was so good to me when I played him. Do you like jewelry? I do. Oh yeah, there you go. Put do a little fist out to the camera and we’ll do a pick. I always uh try and give the best experience I can. Uh people say not to meet your heroes and uh if someone sees me as that, I like to, you know, give them the best experience I possibly can. I’m excited to share it with the kids and the charities that Barry has supported throughout my time here and has continued to support. So yeah, I’m excited to share it with the old teammates who have brought some of their kids and uh old friends. It’s exciting. You guys want to touch the cup? Feel free. Enjoy. This building brings back old memories. you know, we had it rocking a few times and had some long uh playoff runs that ultimately didn’t go our way, but uh I learned a lot. I grew up here in a sense and uh it was a really fun fun experience. Best of luck in hockey. Hurt yourself on that ring to do that. Dang. I don’t do predictions, but I tell anybody that uh we want to do it again. We’re poised to do it again. Uh we feel like we have the team to do it again, but there’s no predictions in a sense, just quiet confidence. Time for our last break here on Prime Time Panthers. Coming up next, we head across the pond to visit with the captain in Finland. Every every little kid, they they love hockey. They they play uh maybe in some teams or just just outdoors with their friends. Finland loves hockey and it’s it’s great to be a Finnish hockey player, that’s for sure. Don’t go anywhere. Prime Time Panthers on Script Sports. We’ll be right back. [Music] Welcome back to the season premiere of Prime Time Panthers. Up next, we’re taking you across the pond to Finland to relive Captain Alexander Barkoff’s day with the Stanley Cup. [Music] maybe bigger muscle this year. He said once in a lifetime thing, he said twice. Yeah. Extremely hard to achieve this once. You’re lucky if you achieve it once in a player’s career. And uh obviously Sasha and his teammates back to back is is unbelievable. And there is more work to be done. But it’s great you can all attend. It’s a beautiful weather, beautiful event. Enjoy everybody in good health. Cheers. Cheers. Cheers. Miles. Yeah. Two times and Stanley. So far it’s been good. My summer summer house where I stay when I’m in Finland. Little family time there. A little more calm. Really enjoyed that. All right, let’s go. We’re at Paddle One Arena, Nokia, Finland, a little bit outside of the Pampere. Been here a couple times uh watching title tournament and uh it’s one of my favorite sports that I play and uh there’s going to be some kids that will surprise with the with the Stanley Cup. Pretty much first thing you think about when people say Finland is ice hockey. So, everyone loves hockey here. Everyone’s watching hockey, follows hockey. So, uh, it’s great. It’s, uh, it’s kind of like a lifestyle here, uh, just like Canada. We’re going to play some games with the kids and have some fun. [Applause] Wow, that’s a nice jersey. Nice try. Try again. One more. It’s getting close. Nice. Very nice shot. Very nice family photos here. It’s great time. It’s great. Every every little kid, they they love hockey. They they play uh maybe in some teams or just just outdoors with their friends. Finland loves hockey and it’s it’s great to be a Finnish hockey player. That’s for sure. That does it for the season premiere of Prime Time Panthers. Hockey is back and we are just a few short days away from dropping the puck as the Florida Panthers go for the three. We’ll see you next week right here on Script Sports. Prime Time Panthers has been presented by Anna Jar and Lavine accident attorneys. [Applause] [Music]
