St. Louis Cardinals Bill DeWitt Jr. and Chaim Bloom talk about the team’s payroll
Um this might be for you and for both Bill Ditz. Uh last year at this time at this press conference a lot was talked about payroll. Um what can you share about the payroll uh heading into this coming season in the future? Obviously draft and develop draft and develop of course but are you going to rise the payroll? What can you share about that heading into this? Well it’s interesting. Um I don’t think him and I have even talked about payroll. you know, he’s here to do the job and and uh we don’t know what our payroll is going to be. I I can’t tell you right now. Uh but, you know, we’re going to provide the resources for for him to to build what he’s talking about building. So, um you know, we can take it from there. Would it make sense to get a big free agent this particular offseason or is this more of an offseason where you wait? Yeah, there’s nothing I would ever take off the table on that front. Um, but again, I think the the big thing, the most important thing we need to do, uh, you know, in free agency or any arena is just make sure that the things we’re pursuing actually make sense for for what we’re trying to build and what we’re trying to build towards. Um, so you know, I never like to take ourselves out of any opportunities. I just think, you know, you always want to be able to be opportunistic. Um, but we want to make sure those things line up with what we’re actually shooting for.
