NHL Preseason Highlights | Ducks vs. Sharks – October 1, 2025

as set of ice they put in this year. Awesome type of marketing that this team has been doing over the course of the summer is off the faceoff. We are underway in the first period of play. It’s inside the Anaheim zone. Back to get it. Leo Carlson checked away there brilliantly by Colin Graph along the boards though. A scrum for it. Nice job by Skinner to win it to backhand to the point and let gets the shot away but it’s blocked by a skate and it goes wide to Vette. Just underway in the first period. Sharks and Ducks final home game of the preseason schedule. Here comes Leo Carlson the other way moving in getting the shot away. Stopped by Ascarov not once but twice on the rebound of a held in by Anaheim. And here’s Ryan Paling moving in sending it across the ice with an angle from the left boards off a stick. Pablo Menukov grabs, walks to the circle and shoots but a save made by Ascarov. Right now Reeves with the puck on the right point. Winds up and shoots off of a stick in front. A backhand chance. That is a really solid save off Gardet by Clang who sprawled to make the stop. Lost a stick on the play and now a big hit by Reeves in the corner on Mukov. That’s what you expect from Anaheim this year. Ekkund moves back in for the Sharks power play. Throws one toward the net. Looked like he was going to pass it. Now it’s an angle play by Tofuli deflected aside in this preseason. Goce back on for Anaheim being checked by Vinnie Dehar. Dehorn rides him off the puck. Sent back toward the point. Weird deflection in front. There’s Ascarov, the right-handed catching goalender, able to get his glove on it. And now it’s poked off. Looked like went off the skate of the linesman there. Flit fluttered forward by the Sharks in the air. And it’s a glove save right at the front of the net by Clang. And he is able to hang on. And I tell you what, when you watch those two young men in during the games and during practices, they are attentive. Their hockey IQ was very ele very evident as a like this guy right here. Colin Graph moving forward into the zone. Made the move on Mukov and got the shot away. Oh, was a mishandled puck in the gray zone just at top of the Shark zone. Springs a chance for the Ducks. Leo Carlson’s probably thinking about that as he went back to the point. There’s a shot. Club save made there by Ascarok. That was off of Hellison. Now he sends over to the right wing boards. Leo Carlson was checked there by Lety, but bounced behind the net. There’s Terry with it moving into the slot and it’s Carlson shooting it toward the net. Point blank save by Ascarov. Cleared out by the Sharks flipping it back to the right point. There’s Goch cross ice. Mchuov down low left circle. Now it’s Terry back to Mukov. One time shot had save easily made by Escarov. Must have been listening to us. Jeez, I hope not. Right now here comes Gochce across the blue line to Vrono. Back pass Luno. The one time shot right on net. That was a wrist shot right on goal. Paty almost a steal for Zelwagger but he deflected it yet the Sharks keep the pressure on the center into Foley’s chance stopped short side by Clang with 255 to go but then a second chance a terrific play by William Mechman to go with that near side pass again and a chance on net Shocks 365 members have the exclusive ability to customize their experience through unique benefits like ticketings with one minute to play in the period but went wide of the net behind the goal line that’s a nice job by Grunst to get it Muka Madullan the screenshot with Godette right in front causing all kinds of havoc but the puck was stopped by Clang. Ducks can’t clear. Muka Madulan another shot into traffic. This time it hit a stick recovered by Grundstrom. He turns kept in. Now it’s an angle play by Orlof off of a pass from Muka Medulan but it’s blocked in front and the Ducks pick up. Tied nothing. No nothing. Goender Yaruslav Ascarov takes the goal to our right and the puck dropped. Ducks poke it into the San Jose zone and Clingberg and Ley, two veteran defenseman, poke it out for the Sharks. No gets it back, drops off for Terry for Anaheim in the Shark zone on the left wing. Turns away from Ekkan. Throws it back to the point. Leo Carlson kept it in. Now it’s taken by Terry over to the far side and Soulberg. The shot toward the net save made and Ascarov juggled it a bit but fell on the puck with Carlson at the doorstep. Get out to the point. You’ve got to be as that forward. You’ve got to get out to the point. Don’t go cruising trying to play goal, trying to block shots. Get moving to try to check the man. And the Leo Carlson. Here’s Senica. Shoot. Score. Right off the face off. First of all, the Sharks lost the draw. And Becket Senica giving us an example of why he was drafted third overall. He made a little stick handling move and let a right-handed wrist shot go that beat Ascarov pretty cleanly. Yeah, terrific play by Sanka. Just terrific job by making that little play to just to drag the puck. It was beautiful. The back skating Orlof calmly takes control. Put it off the boards. That’s a nice pass over to Godette. Moving in with Bundstrom. Here comes a shot by Gardet. Save made by Clang. Brian Reeves puts it back to Muka Medullan. Cross ice. Orloff. The one-time shot gets blocked in front and Soulberg will try to clear and he barely does. Betted in the corner, but Ross Johnston had his stick lifted and the Sharks able to escape. Yeah, but there’s Zeldriger did a lot of skating but didn’t gain any space. Didn’t didn’t gain anything towards the middle. It was a great one-on-one battle. Here’s a two-on-one. Cole Angelo moving in. Score. Twoonone. Turnover by the Sharks in the neutral zone. And down the right wing side, Cole Angelo’s got that snapper that goes up top. Neutral zone turnover, right? Well, not neutral zone. It’s just the entry into the zone. Isn’t a very good entry. It’s poor entry. It’s just a turnover. And the Sharks will keep it in. Letty on the right point hangs onto it. Cross ice. Wenberg takes on the left boards. One-on-one against Cole Angelo. Turns back to the point. Lety the drive. That’s a glove save made by Clang. Good pass on the right to Smith, but that’s Soulberg who knocks him off the puck. Alan got in there very quickly and closed. Took the puck away and now it’s Kurishv in the corner behind the net, but a pass back to the point. Orlof lost it. Down the left side comes Gochier with speed moving in. Shoot. Score. So Orlof loses the puck at the offensive blue line and Goce with that acceleration for Anaheim. Yeah, another play where it was just a terrific play by Goceier using his speed and what a shot. They just knocked it ahead. Paxed away there by Dickinson. The Sharks haven’t played poorly, but they’ve made two gigantic mistakes with the puck. Puck mismanagement that have caused two goals. Smart to And I like the fact they they put them with veteran players. Makes sense. Yep. Right now, here come the Ducks. Senica has a goal today. walks across the line, gets the shot away. He holds on him, but he sends it back to Orlof and too bad Orloff’s not a right shot. He loses the puck on his backhand, and it’s a two-on-one for Anaheim. Salewegger moves in, shoots one. Save made by Ascarov, who came out to cut down the angle. Throws on the right to Eklan who back skates to the right half boards. He’s got an opening there for Clingberg who throws to the middle, the bump band. Now it’s over to the near side. Shot to the net there by Toley. Tipped there out the rebound, but it’s wide. Tapley keeps in. Will Smith took it off his skates, bounced it off the boards. Here’s Toulti with it. Walking toward the slots to Candling shooting. A good save by Clang. Rebound now. 7 seconds in the period. Sent near side. Will Smith has it. Throws it across the ring. Little shot by Franklin just wide off a partial deflection. And that’s it for the period. I think everybody in this building thought Will Smith was going to shoot the puck. But he is a good thing. And now he’s going to step in the circle and he does not get thrown out as they drop the puck. And we’re underway in the third. and he won the draw which he always does. Seems like it back. Wenberg flips it cross ice kind of a angle to Eklan to Defo throws it through the crease back to Smith in front to a chance. Score. How about Will Smith on that play? Will Smith getting a pass from the left wing corner and he knows exactly what he’s going to do with it before the puck even arrives. But it was a terrific play. It goes back to the point. A shot pass going back to the net and it goes off of Hines. Tyson Hines skate and into the net regardless though. Third year as a pro played in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League or it’s now called the Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League because there’s so many teams from the Maritime in the league. I think it was nice they changed the name. Here’s a shot by Skinner. Score. Kurichev sets up Skinner and he basically gulped that one into the net with a little wedge from just inside the blue line and all of a sudden folks it’s three to2 just an errant giveaway by the Ducks and we saw that with the Sharks in the second period. Well the Ducks give one away in the third and Jeff Skinner he can score goals. It was a good shot. He’s showing us some things tonight. Paling moves in. Senica turning, poking at it. Here’s a chance. Point blank save by Ascarof off Ross Johnston. Good idea by Misa. Just didn’t quite hit the net. Uh-oh. A headman feed. It’s Senica. He’s got a semi breakaway. Moving in. Stick handling. Shooting it. Save Ascar. It’s also his style that that they go from one to the other. Hold on. Here’s Misa moving in on a turnover to Troy. Point blank chance. Save made. Rebound. Another opportunity for stopped in front. Senica had a nice hit back on Will Smith who was trying to body him off the puck, but then Smith cross-checked him. No penalty called. Empty net still to our left. Cedarov shoots wide at the empty net. No icing. It’s sent to the slot. Score. Cedarov gets it from Zelwagger and it’s 4-2 Anaheim. Mesa moving in, sliding it back to Clingberg. Holds onto it. Back skates. Dishes to Mesa. Walks to the middle to Clingberg. Shoots wide of an net. Didn’t get it. Clingberg didn’t get the shot he wanted there. Skinner kept it in. Sharks with the extra attacker. Down by two. Final minute of play. Work free. And the Sharks can’t center it there. Cleared down the ice. Score. How the analytics have changed on it to say yes. Take the shot from as far away as you can. When you get the opportunity, if you got in five, that was beautiful. Well, there’s only five left here as we get back to action. Final seconds ticking off. No chance for a shot. And that’ll do it. Well, like you said, some good things, some things that weren’t as good. [Music]

Cutter Gauthier, Frank Vatrano, Beckett Sennecke, Sam Colangelo and Yegor Sidorov all scored while Calle Clang finished with 26 saves as the Anaheim Ducks defeated the San Jose Sharks 5-2.
