Rich Eisen on the 3-1 Pittsburgh Steelers’ Chances to Win the AFC North | The Rich Eisen Show

the Steelers at three and one, they are really good at taking the football away. I think we’ve seen that. We’ve had it established. Uh, and week one when they couldn’t take the football away more than just once, Rogers threw for four touchdowns. And the fact that Rogers since that day going into the Ireland game threw only for three touchdowns. A lot of folks are wondering if week one was fagazy. And the Steelers won a football game yesterday that I’ll be honest with you, I was concerned about them being able to win without Jaylen Warren and the run game maybe being next to nothing. And here is Rogers sitting back there in a defense that was marauding the week before against the Cincinnati Bengals would be having its way with a guy who really doesn’t move around all that well at this age. And I was wrong. Was I ever? Now they’re still not throwing deep. They’re not chunk playing unless DK takes one from like 10 yards and runs the next 70 through the entire secondary as he did yesterday for an 80yard score. That is through 57 international series games. Now, by the time that London is through, oh, 60 international games in the history of the National Football League. This was the longest play from scrimmage ever outside of the United States in the International Series. They just don’t do that, though. It’s almost like they need a guy like uh what’s his name? George Pickkins. George Pickkins. Well, it just wasn’t working out there. Whatever was going on there, you know, there’s the tip of an iceberg we only see. And boy, does it appear there have been an iceberg there. Um, and the Steelers defense doing the rest along with, wait for it, did Kenneth Gainwell just, man, take over the running back position for the Pittsburgh Steelers? I’ll tell you this, I know they’ve got a buy now and Jaylen Warren is was the the guy coming into the season after being the backup to Naji Harris. Mhm. Um but you got to wonder if they’re just going to basically tell Jaylen, um you don’t normally lose your job due to injury here and we’ll try and split the reps in a certain way. But I’m you got to wonder if Kenneth Gainwell is going to get another start. 19 carries, 99 rush yards, two rushing touchdowns, career highs and carries, rushing yards and rushing touchdowns and scrimmage yards for Kenneth Gainwell, the guy who, as we all know, was behind Saquon last year. He looked so good yesterday. He sure did. He showed patience. His cuts were great. Great game. His 134 scrimmage yards are tied for most by a Steelers player in a game over the last two seasons. And Rogers only missed on four passes. 126 of his 200 pass yards were gained by DK Metaf. The 80 yards of the 126 on one play. So every single time the Steelers win, you’re like, “Yeah, but yeah, but yeah, but but yeah, but they’re three and one and they’re two games clear of the Ravens. The Bengals are have a backup quarterback damn near all the way through to the middle of December if they’re lucky. And the Browns are well, the Browns talking about Shador Sanders’s body language in in Ohio right now. And the Steelers come off the buy and they get the Browns before visiting Cincinnati and then that massive one where Green Bay now has a revenge game player against them, Sunday Night Football. And you know, I mean, Rogers is going to be talking about that before a game against Indianapolis at home that could be pretty damn big, by the way. Hell yeah. And a visit to Los Angeles against the Chargers. That’s what’s coming up for the Steelers. Um, and as for the Vikings, they’re just going to be up and down until we find out who’s the quarterback and how we can get some sort of rhythm going. Steelers did everything in their power to make that game closer than it should have been yesterday. Well, I mean, the thing was over and then Carson Wentz caught fire in the fourth quarter. Yep. And then Tomlin made that decision. Instead of going for a fourth down on the needing one inch, let’s punt it away and give the ball back. And that almost came back to bite him. Yeah, there was a few, but the defense did its job. The defense did its job. And then there were not one but two takeaways taken away. one in which in the fourth quarter the interceptor bobbled it before getting his feet down and then the one where Jordan Mason clearly fumbled it and as Jaylen Ramsay grabbed the ball and ran it back the entire distance and then faked with the hamstring injury doing the gritty only before him leaving the game later on with wait for it an actual such injury um that Jordan Mason was had his feet out of bounds when he reached out just to grab it to try and gain possession of it. Little did anybody know, probably even Jordan Mason, know that that the act of just grabbing it with his feet out of bounds ended the play. So, the Steelers actually had two more takeaways taken away. And they still had two with six sacks and JJ Watts, I mean TJ Watt, uh, JJ’s brother, TJ, getting it done with his first interception in a couple years. So, hey, you made it all the way to the end. Thanks for that. Check us out every single day streaming live on Disney Plus and the ESPN app 12 to 3 Eastern.

  1. warren won’t lose his job. gainwell looked good (and always has), but the production is more due to darnell washington being on the field for like half the game and spencer anderson being a 6th o lineman.

    personnel dictated production

  2. No way they don’t put Warren back as the number 1 RB after the bye. That running performance was awesome by Gainwell but it was mostly due to the offensive line being good and not because Warren was bad. His numbers don’t tell the whole story because Warren has been the Steelers best offensive player so far this year.

  3. Rogers is throwing 3 yards or less per throw. He is old, immobile, and a diva. His completion percentage is not impressive because his throws do not go much further than than a hand off. Lamar may be injured long term, the Browns are the Browns, and Bengals can't seem to play without Joe Burrow. This all points towards Pittsburgh winning the division based off a top defense but Darkness Retreat Diva has yet to do anything Mason couldn't have done.

  4. The Steelers still haven’t beaten anyone 😂 the ravens schedule gets so much easier and Steelers gets way harder. There’s 0% chance they win the division

  5. The Defense is getting better because the Defense is getting healthier. JPJ, Corey Trice Jr, Highsmith is still out. Plus, Bentley needs to be added to the 53 man roster. And they need WR2, Olave go get him. Mount Washington is a key in the zone running scheme. I can see Red zone TDs, in coming weeks. I can see two shutouts coming.

  6. Just a thought. 2023, the Steelers with Kenny Pickett, and Mitch Tribusky oof, went 5-1 with that lack of an offense in their division, and in 2024 they were of the first two teams to lock a playoff spot. But I think people forget that they then had to play Eagles, Ravens, Chiefs, that is both SB teams, and another playoff team, all with in 10 days. No rest, no practice, no time to mend. <– no one else had to do that Is it any question that they were gassed with that, and yet still made the playoffs with like 1/3 of their roster injured. And still no love at all when in this seasons off, they went nuts getting players. Ya'll picked them to finish last, in fact mentioned that this was the year Tomlin doesn't make .500. They didn't play their starters in preseason, so yeah, no wonder they are a little sloppy in the first 3 games, so Sunday was kind of like this week 1. and they are 3-1. and showing improvement. They will be fine, in fact, they might just be dangerous down the stretch, because I think they will continue to improve.

  7. Chances are pretty high so long as they don't have their yearly end of season collapse. Also known as the Tomlin special. Aaron Rodgers has been better than even I anticipated, and I was pretty optimistic. They also need to have more aggressive playcalling. If the defense continues to improve and those other two things happen, they'll win the division

  8. Uhhhh…… We were in Jumbo all day long. The O line blocked well because Anderson and Washington were in the game all day. Warren would have run for 130+ with that game plan. Either way, good win and finally a good game plan/scheme.

  9. That overturned fumble was BS, Ramsey had his hands on it too, how does just a tap on the ball suddenly mean it's a dead play when it's loose and being actively played for by the other team?

  10. If you’ve watched the previous 2 games, Warren has been our only source of offense & was under utilized Week 1. Credit to Gainwell (who was not good week 1), but Warren is our guy.

  11. Jaylen Warren is the more talented back and shouldn’t loose his job. The difference was the Oline , period . The Oline played much better than the three previous games , and played backup guard Spencer Anderson at jumbo TE on the right , and played more Darnell Washington on the left . There were massive holes all day , and even Kaleb Johnson finally had a few nice runs . That being said the Gainwell actually got the first carry of the year in NJ and has had a pretty even snap count with Warren so the starter role is kinda ambiguous this year anyways . Still Warren should get the bulk in my opinion .

  12. It’s a rough schedule ahead I can see 7-6 down the stretch and that’s as a Steelers fan. Maybe we pull through and go 9-4 down the stretch but it’s going to be tough but there’s big games that say a lot of they do win.

  13. Yea I think we had an extra lineman and Washington on the field like 80% of the time for the first time this season. Really happy to see the jumbo but praying it doesn’t come at the expense of Warren playing time.

  14. It’s just hilarious if the Steelers were 1-3 or even 2-2 right now the media would be DESTROYING Rodgers & blaming him for every single problem but because they’re 3-1 with his teammates constantly praising him and his leadership the media “It’s only Week 4 .. But after a week 2 loss they were calling him washed & saying Russell Wilson was deserved an apology because he was better than Rodgers 😭

  15. What came back to bite them was going on 4th and goal instead of kicking an easy FG to go 2 TDs up. This defense has a lot of flex in it, and it’s best at keeping people out of the endzone, not out of FG range. I still don’t know how someone didn’t get fired for not having 2 safeties deep with a 10 point lead and 3 minutes to go.

  16. 3:13 There’s always a “but” after “Steelers win,” BUT they continue to win. They continue to keep us entertained and give us hope; because, that’s what makes this football team great!!

  17. Like i said over 1 Month Ago and Way before Stephan A Smith said it to, i Clearly said STEELERS VS Packers SB 60 on youtube comments so come on with all your latest videos saying ALMOST the same thing

  18. Warren and Gainwell have been sharing time all season. Gainwell performed so well this week because they focused on that- look at the jumbo sets in that game. What I would say Gainwell cemented is that it is a two person split, him and Warren. The anticipated 3 headed monster with Kaleb Johnson in the mix is dead and gone after Johnson's special teams mishaps and this performance of Gainwell

  19. Here's a stat for you: Of the NFL qb's that have played 4 games, Hurts is second worst with 720 Air Yards. Rodgers is worst with 510. Herbert leads with 1280. So, Rodgers has far less than half of the leader and 200 fewer than the next worst. That is bad, folks.

  20. Only thing about not taking deep shots down the field if they have every DB in deep zones cause our run game isnt a threat it takes away the real deep shot threat so unless we get the runs going more and more and not in just a 1 game sample size we will keep having that issue
