A final look at the Jaguars 49ers matchup last week in Santa Clara. A big time Jags win over a perennial NFC power. First look at the Chiefs Jaguars matchup. Defense setting the tone. Special teams contributions along the way and some issues as well, but some contributions got the job done last week. An offensive line play really spurring this Jaguars team ahead. JP Shadrick, John Oer from the Hyundai Studios, Bucky Brooks in LA, and huddle up with Bucky Brooks, brought to you by Fields Auto Group, Jacksonville. See Fields First, Jacksonville’s premier luxury auto group. Go to fieldsauto.com. Bucky, it’s a weird week because everything’s pushed back a day. So, it’s quiet in the building here on a Wednesday. How are you? I’m great. Uh it’s actually a great week for them to have a Monday night game because they kind of need it coming back from the West Coast, all the injuries and just being beat up. Uh it’s probably a good time to have an extra day to just kind of reset, refocus, and get back to work uh tomorrow. Yeah, it’s it’s actually perfect for exactly the reason Buckyy’s sites. Um they were beat up. It was physical against the 49ers, but it feels like they were fortunate in the sense that the beat up didn’t equate to being so beat up that you have guys who are out for three or four weeks. Uh all of the injuries uh Trayvon will see, but most if not all feel like ones that really will benefit a day and u will be fresher on Monday. So, uh, yeah, it’s it’s this day JP feels like the calm before the storm. That’s right. Because Monday is going to be fun. More buildup for this Chiefs game around here than maybe any since, you know, the Monday night game Cincinnati a few year, you know, a few years back. There was energy then. Uh, it feels me like fans have been waiting and three in one coming back home. This feels like the first of many fun weeks moving forward to me. It does. I mean, yeah, it’s cool. It’s really cool. Absolutely. And it’ll be quite a scene here on Monday night. Let’s get uh our last look at last week’s game, though. And of course, the defense led the way. Four takeaways and now 13 for the season, leads the National Football League. And this, how sustainable is this, Bucky? Are you going to count on three takeaways a week moving ahead? I mean, you can’t count on like three a week, but you can’t count on them always being around the ball. I can tell you watching at field level, it’s crazy to see there is a turnover obsession. Uh that look, it it just shows up in the way they go after the ball. Uh it’s one thing to run to the ball and make tackles or whatever. It’s another thing to always punch at it, poke at it, uh fly to the ball, dive at loose balls, uh once they’re tipped. This team is obsessed with the ball. And what has happened is because it’s paid off so well the first four weeks, they just know that if they just keep going after it, good things are going to happen. And so it’s it’s part technique, part luck, uh a big part of, hey, we believe it’s going to happen, so it’s going to happen. They certainly are manifesting the turnovers, and I love it. Yeah. However you multiply 13 by 4.1 or whatever number you have to get to get to how it would play out percentage-wise to the end of the season, I don’t think you’re going to have 60 turnovers or whatever it is. But sort of in line with what Bucky was saying, u I do think you’re going to continue to have the circumstances that have led to the turnovers and then some of anytime there’s a turnover, there’s a little bit of luck. Like if the ball’s on the ground, it’s got to bounce toward you a little bit. Uh Devin Lloyd, the first interception, ball sort of had to bounce a little bit. He made a great play on it, but if it had bounced down, he doesn’t get it. So there’s a little bit of luck, but what’s the reason they’re getting these turnovers to me is they’re stopping the run really well, which has created some situations where other teams have to pass. Uh they have also been ahead in games all but eight or nine minutes which has created the situation at the end of the game where you got the turnover. They don’t get the Armstead fumble if they’re not leading. Uh so I think the fundamentals that they are doing to create those percentage situations will continue to happen. U 13 you know are they going to get 60? No. Are they gonna push into the mid30s based on the way they’re playing, which would be a franchise record? Franchise record is 33. I think they’re going to push for that record because they’re doing the things necessary to give them a to give them a chance at turnovers. They they really are. You know, John, when when you talk about uh having a chance, it’s funny when you talk to the players and they just talk about all the things that they were doing in practice is paying off. And interestingly, uh, Josh Ein Allen in postgame talked about last year we were doing the things, but we were never getting the turnovers in practice. So that’s why we didn’t get them in games. And this year we’re doing the things that are being asked of us, and we’re getting the turnovers in practice, and it’s translating into getting takeaways in games. Now, you guys are there watching the practices or seeing the practices, so I don’t know how that relates, but I just know that this team feels like they always can turn it over. And in the critical moments of these games, they’re getting turnovers that are unlikely in terms of the plays that they’re making to kind of either flip the tie back in the Jaguars favor or to close the game out, which bodess well for how this team should continue to play going down the stretch. Jaguars offensively last week ran the ball for 151 yards. Big day for Travis ETN Jr. who is now third in the league in rushing. Um that’s that’s good company to keep early in the season. We’ll hope that pace continues with him. Um had a touchdown of course the 48 yer right after a takeaway and showed that breakaway ability and a move down the field as well. Really well blocked on that play but the uh the run offense is there Bucky. And when you have that going that’s right up Liam Cohen’s alley. It is right up his alley. But I’m going to say this and I don’t know if you guys saw the clip that went viral with Travis Hunter blocking. it was on NFL’s uh social channels. But normally what happens is when you have big runs, it’s because the guys on the perimeter are blocking. And that is a thing that sometimes has to be negotiated with pass catchers to get them to give effort in the ground game. But to see the Jaguars blocking as physically and with the amount of effort that they’re doing, to me, that’s a complete buy in in terms of I’m going to be selfless enough to make sure that I do my job to ensure that Travisen and some of the other running backs have a chance to maximize their opportunities and in turn those guys are paid back when I have the ball in my hands. A lot of what’s happening in Jacksonville has little to do with the X’s and O’s and has more to do with the chemistry and the connectivity of this team. When you talk to the players, they all talk about the chemistry and buying in and everyone holding each other accountable. Uh it’s great to see because it sounds kind of pokey, kind of a fairy tale, but this team really is bought into making sure that they support one another. Yeah. And I get, you know, emails all the time, uh when’s the passing offense going to get going? When’s the passing offense going to get going? Everybody wants yardage. And well, and they sort of don’t even say passing offense. When’s the offense going to get going? The offense is going. The offense runs the ball. And my experience tells me that it it’s uh I see guys open sometimes or I mean, not sometimes, but I’m seeing this offense scheming guys open. They’re missing a little bit sometimes in the big plays in the passing game. It hasn’t quite clicked, but you know, 30 years doing this tells me it’s a lot tougher if the running game isn’t working early to figure out to get the buy in that Buckyy’s talking about. Systemically, I see the running game I they have run for 139 or more yards three times. I I I think that very likely they continue that sort of success. You’re not always going to run for over 150 yards because if the defense wants to take it away, they will. But for the most part, I think they’re going to run the ball well. I I think the passing game is going to come along. I worry less about that Bucky than I would if they weren’t running the ball. Well, I guess what I’m saying is I think what they’re doing is sustainable. Absolutely. And I think if we go back and we look at the history, sometimes I believe franchises have a blueprint for success that goes beyond which coaches are there. Where the Jaguars have really been successful, it has always been a rund dominated team. It has always been multiple backs being able to turn out yards. Talk about Fred T, Morris Jones, Drew going all the way back to when they had success with James Stewart and Natron and all those guys. That’s kind of the DNA of the program. Now, the thing that you’re hoping for is the success on the ground leads to the big play opportunities for Brian Thomas Jr., Travis Hunter, um, Breton Strange, Parker Washington, all those. And you see the opportunities. We just haven’t connected. I think it’s still time on task. Continue to stay with it. Continue to encourage Trevor to make the right decisions. And at some point, we’re going to have a breakout game, and you’re going to look up, we’re gonna have a 40 burger on the board. Don’t know when it’s going to happen, but if they keep doing the things that they’re doing, at some point it’s going to explode. And when they have that explosion, the confidence will go and then we’ll see this team have a chance to go from good to great. JP, how come it’s never It’s 40 burger and 50 burger, but you don’t get a burger for 30. Nah, that’s that’s like a slider. It’s a slider. It’s not It’s not uncommon. It’s like a little tasty thing. Yeah. A burger is 20 is just like a side of fries. Yeah. That’s like it needs to be hardy. So it has to be hardy to be a burger. We put 40 points on somebody. That’s a hearty meal. A little slider. 30 points. No, we almost got to 30. Didn’t even feel like we we we played great on offense. So that’s why it’s a slide. It’s not It’s not a big burger. I’m starving all of a sudden. Funny how that works. Uh special teams kind of some really good and some not so good in the game. Of course, Parker Washington front return touchdown. Facial Tutin had a long kickoff return that set up points before half. I think they had just under 200 return yards for the game. That’s that’s a pretty good day at the office in that part of it. There was also couple of issues. A missed field goal and a big moment where they could have gone up eight and really changed the complexion of the end of the game. Missed that one right. And then Laquin Allen stepping out of bounds on a kickoff return. If his right foot’s out and he catches the ball, the straddle rule would have applied. It would have been an out-of- bounds kick. He didn’t. So, that’s a a mental mistake there. But, hey, you get those return yardage going, Bucky, then they they can uh really kind of build upon this moving ahead, it feels like. And what I would tell you is uh sometimes the return game is a bit contagious in terms of once you start making big returns, what happens is the guys that are blocking for the returner, they have more belief. And when you have more belief that your guy can go the distance, then you give a little more effort. you will see a change in the punt return going forward because they’ve seen Parker Washington go to the house. Now, every time they go out there, they’re gonna give a little more effort because they know number 11 can take it the distance. And I’m going to say this, Tootton was very close to popping out that kickoff return. And that is another thing where the belief comes. And we’re seeing this year more big returns in the kickoff return game. Not only for the Jags, but around the league as they’re figuring out this dynamic kickoff. You’re beginning to seeing some tricks and some double teams and some pullers. There’s some things that they’re doing schematically that are also helping these guys get loose uh in the return game. Yeah, that’s good to see because that’s been missing from the game uh really for a long, you know, for too long. Uh I have a question for the weather guy. Okay. Um, and uh, I couldn’t get a real feel because I was in the press box where the food was great. Um, Liam talked on Monday about Cam Little sort of misjudging the wind a little bit but hit it on the sticks which you know I believe because Cam Little generally hits it. Um, and in San Francisco, I understood in the first half, for instance, why they weren’t going after what, the 59, 60 yard field goal. I got a lot of fans upset because they didn’t do that. In San Francisco with the win, it makes perfect sense. Do you feel like the kicking game beyond about 45 was being affected by that on Bucky Sunday? Oh, no. Bucky. Like, like, no, no, John. It was it was so crazy because when you’re at the field and you look so if I’m on the Jaguars bench if I look to the right the the the at the top of the uprights the flags are blowing in. If you look down to the other side the flags are also blowing in. Right. That’s what it felt like one of those it it was a it was a weird thing and you can understand because Cam Little like been around him for for two years like he rarely mis hits the ball like he understands how to hit the fade or the draw based on the wins or whatever and he just never got a good sense of what it was doing. A very challenging stadium to kick in just because of the dynamics of the stadium and where the wind can come in. Uh it makes it hard uh to do. And so, look, it’s one of those things you’re so accustomed to see him nail 50 yardage that when we when he tries out there, you’re like, “Okay, well, this is good. So, now we’re going to go up eight.” And when he miss, you’re like, “Whoa, whoa, oh, he he missed.” And that was the feeling on the sideline. Like, everyone was used to, you know, the kickoff team is getting ready to run out. Oh, he missed it. It’s just an uncommon thing because he’s been so money. That’s last week. And now we’ll come back in a moment and look ahead to Monday Night Football. The Kansas City Chiefs coming to town and you need to be here. It’s a matchup you don’t want to miss. Go to jaguars.com/sweptakes and learn how you could be the next fan to win big. Win big. You know who wins big? The Kansas City Chiefs win big. They are the current dynasty in the National Football League with Andy Reid, one of the all-time great head coaches, of course, the quarterback. They’ve got some skilled players certainly on offense, the defense that’s aggressive. They’ve had a lot of success, though, three Super Bowl wins. They’ve been to five since Andy Reid has been the head coach there. And there you see it on your screen. AFC champions five different times. They’ve won the division for nine straight years in the AFC West. You know, and they started 0 and2 this year and there were some people starting to rumble a little bit about the Chiefs this not being a vintage Chiefs. Well, you know what? They’ve won two straight and they’re two and two. They’ve adjusted some things and look out. The Kansas City Chiefs are coming to town and they are the the standard bearer until they’re not anymore. Yeah. Historically, what you’re seeing on the screen is nuts. You know, nine AFC West championships is hard enough. five out of six Super Bowls. Uh yeah, it’s um the Patriots were a dynasty. This in terms of a of a small amount of time uh is very close to unprecedented, if not unprecedented. Uh so people who see two and two and say they’re down don’t believe that. Um because they’re they’re a team that knows how to win and believes they’re going to win. At the same time, Bucky, uh, I’m gonna say this game’s very winnable for the Jaguars because I think the Jaguars are good and I think the Jaguars, you know, their history doesn’t reflect how they’re playing right now. I think with this team’s physicality, with their confidence in the running game, uh, with the way they’re playing, a no game against Kansas City is easy, but in in 23 or 22 was that they played him twice and lost. Mhm. I never really believed, I gotta be honest, that they were going to go there and win on the road in the postseason. I mean, I I hoped I thought they had a chance, but I didn’t consider that like a game that the Jaguars were, you know, I I think they go into this game wouldn’t surprise me at all if they win this game. And it it have surprised me in either game in 22 had they won. Yeah. No, I I believe that. And I think last week was a great uh pre them or preview for what the Jags need to do to knock off the Chiefs. Uh going into that game, Liam K talked about we’re not playing the logo. We’re not playing the history of the Niners. We’re playing this version of the NerS here today. It’s the same thing with the Kansas City Chiefs because sometimes you can get caught up in the mystique of the Kansas City Chiefs and the mystique of number 15 Pat Mahomes. He is a great player, a certain Hall of Famer, all of those things. But you can’t get so worried about him that you allow him to be the boogeyman that prevents you from being able to play with the Kansas City Chiefs. Because the Jaguars have faltered against them the last few times they played against them. It’s really important that they not only make it about themselves, but they just focus on stacking positive plays on top of each other. And then you look in the fourth quarter, someone has to make the big play to finish the game. In spite of that feeling that you had, John, about Kansas City in 2022, if you look at that playoff game, they’re within a touchdown in the fourth quarter like and going in and I think there’s a turnover that ended it and then Kansas City kind of runs away from it. And so I remember how they played bima don’t break. Let’s just get into the fourth quarter. Well, the way the Jags play now is similar to that defensively, but they might be better offensively in terms of being equipped to control the game and get it on their terms. I’m excited to see this play out on Monday night. And I think the thing you said at the end is the biggest reason that I feel like when they’re going against good teams, they maintain confidence throughout. When you can run, it inherently gives you a feeling of confidence and like we’re in this thing. Uh it I it permeates to the entire both teams when you look out and Travis Ten’s getting eight in the fourth quarter and now it’s second and two. You can control that more than you can when you were depending on the pass. Uh I think it gives you a feeling of confidence. To me, I think they’re I think they’re going to come out and if they succeed running in the first half against Kansas City, I think they’re going to be in the locker room telling each other, “Yeah, why can’t we like Mhm. We can do this. This is the way we play. They play to an identity. Uh which I’ve always liked teams that know how they want to play. So I think those are the things that you saw in San Francisco confirmed things to me like, oh, this is what the team thinks it is and it’s what they are. San Francisco, you know, I think fans sort of forgotten that the 49ers were unbeaten going into that game. And I get they were down boa they were down guys but the 49ers believed they were going to win that game against a team that they thought they should beat probably and the Jaguars didn’t really play that and so I I think last week’s game changes the dynamic of how they feel and how fans should feel about this team. I have a question for the defensive coordinator. Well, he’s gonna give it to you. He’s gonna give you an answer. Um, and when you’re facing Patrick Mahomes and those weapons that they have, um, Worthy gets the the ball in his hands a bunch of different ways, right? And he’s been out, but he’s back now. Um, where do you focus on offensively? And then with Mahomes extending the play out, how aggressive do you have to be with him near the sideline? That’s that’s been kind of a touchandgo area because he likes to extend it and get a few extra yards and then get that contact near the boundary. Uh look, I think you have to play it out. The only thing you can kind of tip tiptoe through the tool is when you’re dealing with Pat Mahomes. If you can get put a lick on them, you want to put a lick on him. What you don’t want is your defense overthinking the situation. Be smart. Don’t do anything dumb, but you have to go after him. And typically Pat Mahomes is a runner and he’s got to have it moments. third down um down in the red zone. When he gets close to the end zone, he’ll run it. Uh if they’re behind by two scores and he feels like he needs to jump start the offense, he’ll kind of jump into running mode. He’s a talented player. He’s a great playmaker and this offense, Ken City doesn’t have a potent running game and so he’s been having to do more on the ground just to add some balance to the offense. So, if you can contain him, throttle Isaiah Pacheco and the rest of the runners and make this team do what they made other teams do. Throw when you’re loading up the coverage, uh, wait for him to make a mistake. We talked about tips and overthrows and the interceptions coming off of those things. It’s the same thing. The only difference with this version of Kansas City now in recent weeks, Xavier Worerin coming back, his speed is real. And so you have to make sure you keep an eye on him to make sure that he doesn’t get over the top and behind the defense. But what that does is that tends to open up the rest of the field, the middle of the field. They’ll have something where they’re paying attention to it, but you just have to monitor his whereabouts because his speed is legit. Be interesting to see. Uh and then defensively for the Chiefs, um they like to get after a lot of different ways. I mean, they’re going to bring a lot of different looks, right, Bucky? They are. But one thing that I know is uh when when Steve Pulo is down and out, he’s going to bring some version of a cover zero blitz. He’s going to roll the dice, he’s going to put all the defenders up there and they’re going to bring six or seven to impact the quarterback. Trevor Lawrence is going to have to have his best game mentally, not physically. He doesn’t have to be the the best when it comes to completing uh 35 out of 40 or whatever, but he has to be on his P’s and Q’s when it comes to understanding the pre- snap phase of the game, getting the Jags into right calls. Some of those calls will need to be run calls, not just passes. But he is really going to have to be sharp when it comes to being able to crack the code uh on the pre- snap disguises to make sure that the Jaguars have play calls that give them a chance to exploit the defense as opposed to being overwhelmed by the defense and the tactics that they bring. And this is where the the operation before the huddle, during the huddle matters. I mean, they’ve had issues with that over the last couple weeks, John, getting out of the huddle on time. play clock’s winding down. They’re trying to shift guys and move. I mean that and then all of a sudden you got to worry about where the blitz is coming from now almost every down. That’s a lot. Yeah, it is. I I feel like they’ve gotten better at that even even though maybe the numbers haven’t shown it. Um I also and I’ll get Buckyy’s thought on this because he’s down there and he sees the operation more. I know fans may not necessarily agree with this because there’s a lot of Trevor angst right now because of the numbers, but right now when you tell me that a big deal is going to be whether or not Trevor gets him in and out of the right play, I think the work that they’ve put in taking the wristband off, I feel like he’s pretty good there right now. I mean, I I now I think this will be the toughest test, but I think during the play, I still sense some uneasiness. I don’t know. It’s hard to tell if he’s like just not wanting to throw a pick, what not to make the big mistake, but pre-play, I think I have some confidence in him in the situation that you’re talking about. So, it’s, you know, like they’ve talked about Liam Cohen, Trevor Lawrence, they’ve talked about it, uh, learning this new offense is like learning a foreign language. And so, it’s one thing to do it in the cozy confines of the classroom. It’s another thing for me to drop you off in Spain and be like, “All right, there you go. Let’s go get it.” So, Trevor’s trying to sort how to do it, how to do it all in real time. And I will say I am not discouraged by the arm and the passing game. I’m encouraged by the way that he is managing the game at the line of scrimmage. The way that they’re in and out the right calls. Part of the reason they’re having so much success on the ground is because he’s killing one play to put him in an optimal play um with the audible. That’s great. Uh against the blitz, we saw him he nailed the blitz against the Texans when they needed a play. Brian Thomas Jr. catches the pass and kind of seals the the game. Those things are great. Now it’s about putting it all together. um not being frazzled or flustered by the pressure, but being able to calmly and cooly get the ball to the playmakers and allow them to go to work. The way the Chiefs play, it’s going to be imperfect because it’s so chaotic in terms of way they bring their pressure, the randomness that Steve Spagnulo operates. But if Trevor can get a beat on what they’re doing and if they can cash the lottery tickets when they have those big play chances, man, the Jaguars have a great opportunity to knock off the Chiefs and really beat them in the way that they want to beat him by running the football and then finding the explosive plays on either compliment replay actions on blitz alerts where they see the defense coming and they attacking. Yeah, I’m with you. I I think the guy with the name on the show summed it up just then. Yeah, he’s pretty good at that. I mean, that’s uh if you hit some big plays, I think a big play in the running game. I was significant. They got one going last week. Um I I think the formula is there and I think it’s going to be about much like last week I said they needed explosives to win. I don’t think they can go back to what the first three weeks were where the longest touchdown was 11 yards. Um I think they’re going to need that break. Last week they got it with Travis and they got it with Parker. It still feels like they’re close and they’re getting it there. I mean, they’re getting the situation to arise. U I think Trevor hasn’t quite seen it and hit it. Uh but I’ve seen him do that before, JP. So, I’m not worried about that eventually happening. I kind of agree with Bucky that I think so much has gone on pre- snap that maybe he just hasn’t gotten that uh instinctive comfort once it’s snapped. And I I just believe that’s coming for him at some point. And it’d be nice if it was Monday. It certainly would. It’d be a big moment for that to happen. Under the lights, the Chiefs coming to town. [Music] My whole thing with Trevor has always been he’s so ridiculously talented. I always wanted him to play quarterback almost like a a a boxer in the 12th round of a heavyweight fight, you know, just come out and swing, you know, and obviously you you play under control and you make good decisions, but just come out in attack mode. And I I’ve always said like if you just watch him and when he throws the football it’s does his body like almost stay back or does he try to drive through every throw and again I would say in the past couple weeks it feels like everyone is this haymaker that he’s trying to land. I don’t care if it’s a 20 yard ball or a 5yard ball. And so that’s I’m I’m very encouraged by that. I’ve always believed that Trevor’s had this ridiculous talent and I just want everyone to I want him to just go go play to his capability. Dan Orlovski, ESPN. Caught up with him earlier today. Time for the defensive coverage of the game. presented by GAA, Government Employees Health Association. Benefits for federal employees and retirees. And we take a look at the quarterback matchup this week. Defenses will have to plan for both of these guys. Of course, Patrick Mahomes so far this year, closing in on a thousand yards for the first four games, seven touchdowns, one pick. There have been some turnovers from Trevor Lawrence on the other side. Four interceptions so far this year. and in some some key moments, some chances to score and and just some poor decisions a couple of times, but Trevor Lawrence trying to figure some things out here and get this offense continue to build in this offense like we’ve just talked about. But when you see um number 15 in red coming up on the other sideline, that opens your eyes certainly. Well, he’s always going to get the check mark. I mean, so look, we’ve gone over a little bit already. Um, I I think Trevor for the most part is getting him in out of plays that they want to. I there has been some headscratching moments, but I think if you had told me before the season, Bucky, that uh in the first four games in a new offense, if it it looked, and I do believe this, the coaches are saying it, I think you see it, it looks like he’s grasping the offense, getting him in and out of it. If you had told me that the hiccups would be uh a couple times a game makes a headscratcher and he’s just not feeling instinctive, you know, like a point guard who, you know, doesn’t isn’t quite seeing it once it’s going on yet, but as he gets more comfortable, he will. Um, we don’t know if he will, but uh, if you had told me that that’s what was going on, I wouldn’t have been that surprised and I would have liked the fact that he’s grasping it. Yeah. I mean, it’s he’s a work in progress and I think if we had a realistic expectation uh, going into the season, we wouldn’t um, kind of want to see him like hit it right away. it tends to take a little longer for quarterbacks to see the game through the same eyes that the coach does. And as they’re getting together and getting on the same page, not only with the verbiage and understanding the play designs, the concepts where the primary, secondary, and and third and fourth reads are, um, it takes a while and the chemistry with the the pass catchers because remember there’s a new set of pass catchers on the perimeter. We don’t have Christian Kerr. We don’t have Edmond Ingram. So, there’s still a lot of stuff in play. As Trevor gets more reps with this group, and as he has a better understanding of the passing game and all the ins and outs of it, the performance will improve. It’s up to him, the coaches, and everybody to maintain their confidence so that they can get to the other side of it and we can finally see uh the explosiveness that look, this team should have when it comes to the weapons that they have on the perimeter. And I will say this too, JP, a lot of the criticism that Trevor has gotten, you know, from people who write me, I think is legit. You know, uh, not dirting it in the red zone at the end of the first half. You know, you didn’t want to last thing you wanted was a turnover there. So, it was good that he didn’t have the turnover, but then you could also get rid of it and a couple of things missed and just and just sort of looking hesitant. But if you think back to how life works, as you get more comfortable with things, those are the things that feels like it should smooth out once you’re not thinking about other things as much. I mean, it’s it’s uh you know, I guess that’s what I pin the hope on that at some point you’re gonna start seeing progression of, okay, there’s the guy breaking like they said there was he was going to break in the meeting. Not thinking that, but just seeing it and going. And uh I kind of liked what Orloski said at some point once he starts just relaxing and flinging it uh getting a little more to that then I think you’ll see the hesitancy maybe that’s not the right word but I think I think you know what I’m saying sort of hesitancy and unsuredness at times I’ve got to think that goes away as you get more comfortable. Yeah time on task. We’ll see how it develops moving ahead. Let’s come back in a moment. We’ll get our final thoughts ahead of Monday Night Football. The Chiefs and the Jaguars. Go to fieldsauto.com. Chiefs and the Jaguars coming up on Monday Night Football week five. Jags eight and nine all time on Monday nights trying to continue this hot start to the season. They’re going up against one of the all-time great coaching minds in football. Andy Reid. And there you see the Monday Night Football record. They were successful early because they were really good in the 1990s. And then they’ve lost nine of the last 12 times they’ve been on there. There was also an 11 season stretch where they did not play on Monday Night Football. Again, because of the issues around the organization, they weren’t good enough to be on Monday night. Now, of course, this week, Andy Reid, the fourth most wins in the history of the National Football League as a head coach, both playoffs and regular season combined. And obviously had, you know, started his career in in Philly, as we all know, took them to a Super Bowl, did not win it. He’s uh won his share in Kansas City. And what is it about Andy Reid’s operation that stands out the most to you, Bucky? Well, first things first, I got to say this. Uh Andy Reed and I were together in Green Bay. At the time, he was a tight end’s coach. He was responsible for scout team. I was a scout team defender when I was there. And that happened right before I officially moved to DB. Um and then came down to Jacksonville. What I would tell you is that he is um a player’s coach, but he has uh demanding standards for effort, attitude, execution, and those things. And he has a nice mix of an old school temperament with kind of new school sensibilities in terms of how to deal with today’s player. That’s why you can see him have these testy incidents with Travis Kelce on the sideline, but they’re able to move on beyond it as a offensive uh mastermind. Man, he’s a wizard. What he does, play calling, the creativity, what he’s able to take from uh plays that he sees at any level, high school, college, uh youth football, he’ll take and try anything. And the team takes on this personality because look, he’s a fun, loving, jolly guy, but he is as tense as it comes when it comes to winning. And he’s done a great job of developing quarterback. You get quarterbacks, you give him any quarterback, he finds a way to put them in a situation to play to their strengths. He’s just a great coach. And I can say this, I never expected him to be the kind of coach that he is because he broke the mold of going from being a play caller to a head coach. He went from being a quarterback coach to a head coach with no play calling experience. And at the time when he got the job, I’d never seen that. And it just goes to show you that head coaches can come from anywhere. It doesn’t have to be a traditional path. Yeah. It’s funny. I uh you know, he’s won three games. I’m not going to put him in this class. But when he started talking about Andy, it sounded a lot like how I’m thinking of Liam right now. I mean, uh, a player’s coach, I think, but does an outstanding job. I’ve never been around Andy, so I I don’t know how he does it, but the st You can be a player’s coach, but to have the demanding of standards, that’s the mix you have to have. Uh, I think Liam’s got that. I think that’s the thing I’ve been most I don’t say surprised but most taken with and observing for the first four or five weeks. I knew he could call plays. You know, I I I didn’t know because there’s no way to know how he would deal with players as a first-time head coach. Um maybe in 25 years you’re talking about, you know, I mean it’s uh I do think those traits though lead to success and I think Liam is uh showing the first signs of those tra or we’re seeing the first signs of those traits start to manifest itself here. Excited to see that matchup of course on Monday night. Tickets are available but they’re going fast. jaguars.com/tick 9046332000. It should be an incredible scene here at the bank, John. Yeah, it’s it’s uh you know, it it felt like this was going to get going after 22, right? Like this is sort of energy and it’s and it didn’t. Um and I’m not trying to compare things to the past. I just Bucky, there’s something about the way they’re playing right now that feels sustainable. I don’t know. I mean, they’re probably not going to reel off 17 in a row or whatever that number, right? pretty awesome. But yeah, I’m with you. But they’re playing in such a way when Liam said the other day on his presser, I don’t if you saw it, Bucky, they’ve only trailed eight or nine minutes this year. Even beyond that, they have been in control of games. They’ve been close, but they’ve had the lead and they’ve been the team that is sort of dictating situations. When you’re leading, you can play to your situation more. You can punt when you want to punt. um over four games when you’re always the team in control. They even you’re even in control against Cincinnati until the very end. When you’re always in control of that, uh that’s hard. And I don’t think that’s a fluke no matter who you’re playing that with the running game, the way they stop the run, uh the way they’re being built. Again, I am more optimistic more optimistic about this franchise than I’ve been since the day I walked back in the door in 2011. Uh, and I I think this is the first of many big games, big moments that are going to be really cool for fans to get on board with. Yeah. I think I think the reason you feel that way and the everyone around the team feels a certain way is because it feels genuine and authentic. I think the interactions that we all have in the building uh with our co-workers, with the coaching staff, with the people in the front office is real. It’s genuine. there’s great communication and dialogue and there’s a synergy that exists in the building. Then when you go and you look at the players and how they interact with each other on the field and how they’re interacting with their coaches on the field, that feels genuine. And then when you talk to them about the connectivity of the team and I have Trayvon Walker saying, “Hey man, because we spend so much time outside the building together, whether that’s bowling or going to the movies or eating dinner or whatever that is, this is a team that still has some of that throwback high school Friday night lights feel to it. And it sounds corny because we’re having success and so you’re trying to kind of like quantify it, but I’m telling you the feel that I get from this team is very similar to a high school team trying to figure it out. And because they’re really connected and because I would say the egos are are in check where no one really cares about who’s getting the credit, it just has a feel that the culture, as everyone talked about, the culture is is is is being established the right way. And it’s going to be sustainable because it’s players holding players accountable while also involving the coaches and players saying, “I want to play hard because I believe in these coaches.” That doesn’t happen in pro sports often. And so that’s why it feels different around the building. Yeah. And JP, all that stuff Bucky said, I get that fans are sitting there listening to it said, “Well, it’s supposed to be that way.” Yeah, it is. And most of the time it’s not. So, the fact is, it really isn’t. The guys running this thing and the leaders on this team uh deserve a lot of credit for having that be the case this quickly with a leadership and direction change. Uh I know fans saying, “Well, they’re only three in one.” I get that. We got to talk about something. But this all feels real and uh credit to him. Let’s keep it going. All right, Bucky. Have a great week. We’ll see you here on Monday Night Football Under the Lights. Have a good one. Well, I should be fine. Prime time. You got to have your best. You got to bring your best, JP. I’m going to need plenty of energy. John, too, on Monday under the lights, the football world is watching. I need you to be at your best. I’ll take a little nap that day. Yeah, it’s going to be a long day. Bucky Brooks out of here. John Oer. I’m JP Shadrier. Thanks to our entire crew, Joe Fortunado, Brent Reber, and thanks to you for watching Huddle Up with Bucky Brooks. [Music]

DUUVVVAAAAALLLLLLL
Trevor and the receivers gotta tighten up this week and we beat K.C.
Trevor is a average Quarterback
Lawrence performs better in away games. He won't be able to handle the Chiefs at home. The pressure will get to him in this home game.
Jags for the win
John need to go this guy never knows what he's talking about
Chiefs/Mahomes 5W – 0L vs the Jags
The Jags are an average team, the Chiefs are an all time great(actually the greatest team in NFL history**)
**more regular season wins over a 7 year period than ANY team in the history of the NFL and more playoff wins over a 7 year period than any team in NFL history.
.
Do the Jags have a chance, sure, a chance.
Back before Mahomes the Chiefs were an okay, but nothing all that special of a team yet the Chiefs defeated the AFC Super Bowl representative FOUR years in a row, including blowing out the Broncos in Denver and blowing out the Patriots/Brady. So, it's the NFL anything is "possible" But, it's about 85% probable, the Chiefs win.
John is great!π
Jags by 17. There is a new powerhouse in the AFC!!!!!
Jags haven't lost yet in the throwbacks. If they bring the swagger with them , they could win . Jags vs KC is usually a close game but Pederson isn't here anymore. It all depends how they handle playing Infront of the Nation at night . Bring the swagger and take it !!
I don't think the Chiefs will blitz this week. They will force the Jags' passing attack to beat them before blitzing once.
Local Jax media mentioned TLawβs first and only pass completion with 20+ yards in the air happened last week.
Dang unc clear ur throat π
Jags look like a pretty good club!! Running into buzzsaw with this Chiefs defense though
Am I delusional? I can't see one single scenario where the Jags lose on Monday night ππππ
I think we get a defensive td this week
Jags are not a powerhouse sorry
