Rich Eisen Preaches Patience to Fellow Jets Fans on Heels of Team’s 0-4 Start | The Rich Eisen Show
Is this a rip the band-aid off type thing? Dissolve the whole team. No. And Glenn really needs to find his quarterback because no Fields has shown brilliance. It’s still missing a lot of things. He’s got to find his people, Dave. You know, obviously he inherited a team and he’s got to find his people. Like I said yesterday, it’s very simple question. Um, do you want to play for this guy? Do you want to play for this guy in the New York metropolitan area or not? It’s a very simple question. And if you do, then you got to focus more because that’s what some of these penalties are about. Practice better, play better. And it’s that simple because at some point you’ll get cut. You’ll And in terms of how bad it is, if Glenn goes 0 and5, he’ll be the first New York Jet coach to ever start 0 and5. Dave, but uh Tony Dunie started 0 and5. I think Glenn actually mentioned that from his podium today that he’s reached out to Dunie. Um, and the guy whose staff he just came from and it’s kind of crazy that you look at the Lions and it’s just like how many we we we didn’t grow up in a world where everybody wants to be like the Lions. Um but but Dan Campbell Dan Campbell and Aaron Glenn with Dan Campbell started 0 and10 and nobody’s talking about no one’s talking about 0 and 10 at Detroit anymore right now. Can the Jets make those cuts though? I don’t know. Can the Jets give him the power to cut the guys and cut the dead weight? Again, you saw that that fumble. That’s where the game went of like you got to hang on to the football. That’s fundamentals of like if the Jets if Woody gives him the because Woody’s back. If Woody gives him the tools and say you can make those cuts, it’ll be the first time the Jets actually have some I guess Detroit Campbell moxy to, you know, get off the knees to make those things happen where we haven’t seen that in a while. Dave, he does like again and thanks for the call, Dave. I appreciate it and happy new year to you, too. Um, may you be etched in the book of life. I like that, Rich. Although mine is up in the air because you know I’ll be working tomorrow with how do you work on Yam Kapoor with you’re in studio guest Charlie Sheen. But that said um listen if they keep making these mistakes Aaron Glenn’s going to have no choice but to start cutting people. You know what I mean? Like what what else are you going to what else what else is there right now? he’s doing the right thing, which is I believe in the guys. They’re they’re my guys. We just got to go back to work and do and do better. Um but I don’t want to speak for the guy. I mean, he’ll he’ll speak for himself. And in the meantime, if he’s reaching out to Tony Dunie, that’s not a bad resource. No. But again, Dan Campbell started O they were 0 and10. How many people in Detroit are talking about 0 and10 right now? Full Lutars. I forgot that you mentioned it. 0. Look it up. I don’t think I’m wrong about it. Dan Campbell’s talking about I’m here biting kneecaps and we’re going to take it out and then when you’re when we’re done doing that, we’re going to do, you know, more Hannibal Lecter stuff and everyone’s like, “Okay, bud. We’re going to have a great day today.” You know, that’s what he’s saying now. Not anymore. I’m thinking he could be coach of the year and for good reason. Rich, they were 010 and one. 010 and one. Wow. Okay. 2021. Yeah, they were 313 and one that year. So, Jets are maybe halfway to that. Tied the Steelers. They got too many talented guys. They’ll I I am confident that, you know, they’ll do their best to figure it out. Hey, you made it all the way to the end. Thanks for that. Sending this to my buddy who's a Jets fan to lift his spirits
Rich, you just have to move on from the Jets. The only constant is the owner and he is a bad owner. Things will never change as long as Woody owns the team. I would have moved on from them years ago. It was fun when they got Rodgers, but look at how they treated him? They just wasted their money.
BOTTOM LINE: as long as Woody Johnson is the owner….the organization will be a train wreck.
Doesn't matter who the coach is, or who the QB is. Woody is the problem.
The Lions were terrible and couldn't get out of their own way for decades. Look at them the last few years. You can never tell when the change might come, but it always might come. I'm also not convinced any true sports fan can genuinely switch their loyalty from one team to another. That kind of love is deeper than an intellectual decision. It's kind of like loving a parent, child or sibling. They may screw up again and again, but you're always going to love them. Jets fans obviously have had a brutal existence for a long time, but I fully respect anyone who is a genuine Jets fan. They're not dumb or stupid. They don't "enjoy suffering." They love their team and want to see their team do well and have success. Nothing wrong with that.
I’d argue the lions 0-10-1 roster was worse than what the jets have right now
Tbh the schedule has legit not been easy. They should’ve beat Miami if they wanted to be taken more seriously, but Steelers, bills, and Buccaneers who all have 0-1 losses are just not surprising losses at all.
The obvious comp is the Lions, and one of the most underappreciated aspects of that rebuild was a change of owner. Just gonna leave that out there.
I do not think that the Jets will win one game this season. 3-14 Maybe. Aaron Glenn was a good DC, but he has no clue of how couch an NFL team. This would not happen with a winning HC. A winning HC would have brought in the proper coaching staff. I have said this time and time again; they need a proven winning HC, (and there were many available last year, and the years before). Do you think that Gibson would even be on the Roster if a guy like Rex Ryan or Jim Harbough was the HC? The Season was lost with the Gibson fumble. That was a season killer, not a game killer, a SEASON killer. Fair catching the ball at the 2 yard line? The penalties? Not picking up a solid WR to back up Wilson? This is bush league football. They are done. And they will continue to be a losing team if they keep hiring wanna be DC's and OC's as their HC. With their talent they should be 3-1 right now. They could possibly go 0-17 this season.
A perennial winning team would have recouped and regrouped after the Gibson fumble which cost the Jets the game. It's almost impossible for a perennial losing team to recoup and regroup. That loss put the fear of a losing season again in the player's and the coach's mind. You can actually see that fear and despair on their faces on the sidelines when are behind or when they fall behind. Case in point KC got blown out by the Eagles in the SB and actually lost their first two games this season, now they are 2-2. And the Jets? 0-4. They will try hard, but once they fall behind in the game they will fold. Even the HC has that same look. They will be pressing or what I call "on tilt" for the rest of the season. This happens in Sports and in Gambling as well. Thier season is done.
The Jets need to have refs in practice during the regular season like they do in camp. These bonehead pre-snap penalties, and the personal fouls, are killing us.
The lions also started the next season 1-6. The difference is ownership, GM, and HC were all in lockstep. This doesn’t happen without Sheila
After being a Jets fan since 1998, I have run out of patience. Same old Jets!!
Roster is too good to be 0-4. Gotta clean up the penalties and turnovers
Jets Have Not Won Since "1968" …LAST Word a Jets Fan Wants to Hear is "Patience"
The difference is the Lions had a QB who had a history of success and the Jets don’t.
J-E-T-S 😢. Patience 😢
I will say this about Fields. He usually starts slow, but he is starting faster. When he knows the whole playbook we might see a couple of those wins pile up.
Im not gonna lie. Im not a fan but i see an eerie parallel between the 2021 lions and this team truly. Go look at this team and that team through 4 weeks and look at the scores the margin of loses are exactly/almost exactly the same
