Use Monangai between the tackles and Swift on the outside, that should be the plan.
It continues to baffle me, week in and week out, that the coaches watch Swift every single day in practice and think, “yeah, this is the guy we should run with up the middle.”
I mean swift isn’t great but I’d argue that the amount of presnap penalties putting us in bad yardage situations the first 4 weeks has an equal contribution to this number than swifts running ability
Yeah we definitely don’t need a left tackle
My take after rewatching the Raiders game is that aside from the couple of penalties on Swift, nearly every run play was blown up from poor execution from the blocking. The biggest culprits were Kmet and Braxton Jones before he got subbed. Theo a couple of times as well before he settled in.
Wide zone also seems to be a better fit for this group than gap scheme.
I think we’re going to be just fine rest of season, this seems like something a new offensive line should be able to figure out with more time on task together.
Lions fan passing through. Biggest issue we always had with swift was running down hill. He can make big plays but sometimes he just wouldn’t take the couple yards. Killed drives
I’d like to see Roschon get a carry at some point
Certainly wouldn’t hurt to have an OLine that operates as one cohesive unit in run blocking..
This line really struggles in run-blocking… Hopefully the change at LT opens things up.
I think we could make that step with better line play (including fewer penalties). Not that it’s horrendous, but it could be a good bit better.
I think outside of S-tier running backs like Henry, Barkley, Gibbs, and Robinson, we wouldn’t see a step from what we are now to truly “elite.” And aside from Bijan, all those guys are running behind top 5 OLs in the league.
there’s a lot more to a running game than one RB
We knew that before a deep draft, yet here we are.
Cant tell if this is good satire or bad analysis. Bears do truly need to upgrade at RB but Swift by himself is not holding back the O, there are still a ton of mistakes from all over the unit that lead to an unsustainable amount of negative plays that the better teams on the Bears schedule will exploit.
That’s not what that graph would suggest, at all.
For starters, it likely suggests that the 3rd down conversion rate is a fluke. Much like the Packers rate.
lot more to a running game than the RB
This has to be skewed because we had two ridiculous 3rd downs. I think one was 3rd and 33? I cant remember the other one.
Run block better.
Swift is a bottom tier starting RB in the NFL but even a great RB would have shitty stats with the way we run block.

As a former die-hard coming back into the fold after 15 years of child-rearing and travel sports blowing up my Sundays, I’m disturbed to learn how bad our defense and run game is.
If that’s the karmic price you have to pay not to watch the likes of Orton or Grossman manage a game I guess I’ll survive.
I would say that and a LT.
Just no.
I miss good bears running backs
Most of our runs get blown up in the backfield or at the line. We also have a high rate of pre-snap penalties. Swift’s vision and tackle breaking are weak, but it’s just one part of a bigger problem.
Im no hater but an elite offense given three turnovers by their defense, each time basically on the opponent’s 25 yard line doesnt win that game by 1 point…. And a RB isnt the solution to that.
I love the current trajectory of the offense but lets chill with being close to being an elite offense.
How people watch bears games and make posts about how we are close to being an elite offense I will never understand
Ben said it wasn’t on Swift. He said it was on coaching, and fixing the line and scheme.
Also, damn, we basically need 10 yards on average for a first, still?
The Jets 3rd down conversion rate is low and they often run on 3rd down.
Can we make a goddamn in season trade for once?
Calm down
This just shows how amazing Caleb is on 3rd down. Clutch AF.
Hey the 2025 was a historically stacked RB class! God thing we drafted: *checks notes*:

I’d hate to be the guy that messes with us

This is what Poles cooked up for our RB room.

A second RT
A non-factor DL
The most random LB possible
A slow, short RB in the 7th round
