COPS/Metro urges voters to reject Spurs arena deal

Cops metro is stain on the city
This shits so dumb. The arena proposal pays for itself by raising the tax. The tax doesn’t happen if the project doesn’t pass. These folks are bitching saying they SHOULDVE done a tax for the arts. From the article
“COPS/Metro Alliance said the county should have asked voters to approve tax dollars for similar projects — not to help pay for a new $1.3 billion arena for the Spurs.”
I think asking teams to pay for their arenas is totally fine. I was for doing another impact study, but San Antonio has some disingenuous folks in public space. Go write your own proposals that are popular enough to be considered for funding. This city bitches about any attempt to improve itself like no other. Building in the downtown has worked fucking great for two decades now, and we still wanna nitpick. I’ll be bitter til the day I die about them trying to keep us from having new schools downtown because of “historic cinder blocks”. Some people in the city has such a very weird attitude about trying to improve it. Glad it’s gonna be up for a vote.
Abyssmal and uneducated position by COPS Metro. Without immediate action, businesses will continue to move from downtown leaving buildings vacant and less jobs to support families. Increasingly, these jobs are moving to suburban locations far from COPS Metro’s core support. How is this helpful to their families and how does this provide opportunity? This isn’t about an arena.
Forget that the primary source of funds is tax revenue that otherwise goes to the state if not captured by this development.
COPS Metro needs new leadership badly that understands how to improve the lives of its constituents.
