Pitching matchup

Padres: Yu Darvish (5-5, 5.38 ERA)
Darvish has started 13 postseason games and amassed a record of 5-7 with a 3.77 ERA

Cubs: Jameson Taillon (11-7, 3.68 ERA)
Taillon's postseason experience is 4.1 scoreless innings over 2 appearances in 2022 with the Yankees

The Cubs feel they have the advantage, playing at Wrigley Field in front of 41,000 hometown fans.

“We’re just looking forward to get another game out of the Wrigley crowd,” center fielder Pete Crow-Armstrong said.

The Cubs will hand the ball off to their hottest (healthy) pitcher. Over his final four starts of the regular season, Taillon posted a 1.54 ERA and rattled off three straight quality starts to end the year.

  1. Vegas calls that a “pick em” game. Pads have a loaded roster built to win. LFG Padres!!

  2. Not that I think those probabilities are off, but whose probabilities are they?

  3. We’re going to need offense to show up big time, Tatis really needs to highlight he’s an MVP caliber player today.

  4. The rest of the league has an obligation to make the cubs wait another 200 years for their next ring let’s eliminate them today

  5. The later start time should hopefully help with the shadows between the mound and home plate not being as big an issue, and the Pads seem to hit better the later in the day it is (maybe it’s a Pacific time zone biological clock thing?).

If Darvish and King (?) can keep the ball inside the park I feel good about our chances. Let the wind gods continue to be Padres fans and blow toward the infield.

  6. Eyy let’s fucking go! Fermin, Bogey, and Darvish looking dialed in! Let’s get some runs boys!
