Aaron Glenn Press Conference (9/27) | New York Jets
injury front. Uh Justin’s plan. Uh Jermaine’s out, Jarvis is out. Uh Kane, we’re still evaluating. Um and we’ll have an answer on that uh as this week continues to progress. Um and the rest of the guys that we talked about earlier in the week, you know, those guys did a really good job this week. Um the mindset has not changed from earlier in the week uh as far as going to Miami and and and trying to get a win. Um this week has been a really good week of of prep, uh really good week of practice. Um we want to end this week on a good note. Um understand today is a is is typically a red zone day for us. Um, but one thing that we don’t say around here is the heads in the boring. We’re always um getting ourselves ready to go play a game um all the way to the very end. So, uh looking forward to finishing this week out on a good note um and going to Miami and again expecting to win all right from our guys. So, any questions? What is um what does the return adjust to do for your offense? um no different than we’ve talked about, you know, all through training camp and what he did in our first game. Um he’s a dynamic runner. Um he’s a smart player. Um I think in the passing game, it showed exactly what he can do, you know, that first game and we want to continue to u to expand on that and continue to get better. Uh this week has been a week of of for the most part of improvement and I think from the first game how our guys came out, you know, did a pretty good job. We got punched in the mouth in the second game. Uh third game, our guys responded very very well. Um and played hard, played fast, played physical um and had a chance to win the game. So this week, I’m expecting, you know, more improvement. And that’s that’s more than anything I’m what I’m looking for. And I know exactly um how our guys will respond. Um and we’re looking forward to going out there and playing. Was he cleared yesterday or this morning? Um from protocol, it was yesterday. What um what what changed from how good Justin looked week one to those hiccups that he had in week two? Every week is different. And I think you have to um to understand if you’ve been in this league for a long time that um I wish you can be at the top of your game every week, but that’s just not realistic. And when things went the way it went in that game, it got to a point to where we really couldn’t do the things that we wanted to do. Um, it took all of us out of our game, offense, defense, and special teams. So, we want to try to make sure we stay away from those things and try to keep him on track, try to keep our offense on track to exactly what we do well. And, um, hopefully we can do that this week. How much does the team just need a win? Um, you know, to reaffirm kind of everything you guys have been doing all off season and all the work you put in. How much do we need a win? Need a win. How desperate is this game for a win? um we don’t go um a week without thinking that we need a win. So I’m trying to really understand how to answer that question. I mean I think it’s every week we’re trying to win and um and every week is important to win. So I would look at every week as a needed part of winning. Were you encouraged uh last week as far as the improvement in the red zone defensively and what you guys have been doing on third down as well? Well, there’s a number of things that I’m encouraged by um when it comes to how we’re doing on defense and um the one thing I think our guys do a really good job of is really understanding exactly where we are and how we need to respond to certain situations. And as you look at it, you know, went from 34 30 to 22 points given up. When you look at I think third down, we’re in the top 10 and third down. We’re in the top 15, I think, in red zone. So, there’s improvement that’s that’s going exactly how we need to go. We got to continue to trend in that direction. Um, and every week that’s what I look for. You know, how are we trending? Now, if we’re trending the other way, then there’s a there that’s a huge issue, right? Our guys are trending in the right direction, which um which I am encouraged by. How much of uh that trending in the right direction could be sped along by like I know you talked about last night they got close to a lot of sacks but couldn’t quite get Baker down there. How important is that to part of Well, Baker’s a pretty good player and you know he’s going to make his plays. I think he’s shown that over the um over the years he’s he’s been in this league. Um and we do have to have a finish mentality, you know, and that’s one thing that we’ve talked about all week is being able to finish. And that’s in a number of different ways. We want to finish the run. We want to finish the catch. Um, we want to finish the play. We want to finish on the ball. Most importantly, we want to finish the game. So, there’s a number of things we look at when it comes to finishing, you know, and that is one of them. I mean, that’s that’s not just sacks. That’s in every category when it comes to football. The um the one thing that was uh I think it’s it’s cliche, but this is a copycat league and usually when a team finds something, the next team does a little bit more, does a little bit more, does a little bit more. Have you guys spent an an increased amount of time in practice this week with with blitz pickups and things of that nature after what Todd and the Bucks were able to do a week ago? You’re talking about one week. I’m just kid. Well, that was the first week we really saw that. Yeah, you’re talking about one week that you know that those guys did a pretty good job and Todd has done a really good job over his career of being able to do that. So, but you’re right. you know, anytime that you look at a team and they pressure like this team, you know, they pressure quite a bit um from a fires on uh perspective, you know, we have to make sure we do a good job of picking those things up. But listen, this is a tough league against, you know, some of these guys that do a really good job of of understanding protection and and and attacking protection. We just got to make sure that we can counter those things. How did um Malachi do in his first extended action last week? And does he have a role now with Tony coming back? Will he have a role? Well, he’s always had a role. Um, and we make sure we understand, you know, the role that he has. That’s not for me to tell you guys, but he always has a role. Um, but I think he did a pretty good job. You know, there’s always room for improvement. He’s a rookie and he makes some rookie mistakes, but to be expected, you know, from a rookie, but um, he’s going to be a damn good player for us, and I’m looking forward to the way that he progresses as his um, as these weeks go by. But there won’t be a week that we go in where he doesn’t have a role. There is it’s common that when there are some struggles from players that are known like veterans that there’s prize to get the rookies in whether it’s more whether it’s easy get the guys in get the guys in. Can you just speak a little bit to the acclamation period that rookies experience and that you might want to see them because they’re the unknown but at the same time like you don’t want to throw them out there too early. Yeah, but we have a plan for all of our guys and um it’s our job to make sure when those guys play. We don’t listen because we know what’s going on. Um and man, we try to make sure when the time is right, you know, those guys will be in. It’s just like when you have a quarter, a rookie quarterback, how sometimes guys put them in as a starter immediately, some guys wait, you know, and let those guys see exactly what’s going on in the game. And we do the same thing with each guy. And we know each guy from a from a personal like really indepth on when it’s time. And we focus on that more than anything than saying, “Okay, we just got to throw this guy off there.” You know, some guys are ready to go, you know, as a rookie and they’re ready to play right away. Some guys we that’s not ready to do that just yet. And um and we try to make sure we do we do what’s right when it comes to the player. What’s going to be key for your young linebackers this week? guys like uh Kiko and Cam against an offense who uh but with the shifts in Yeah, that’s that’s that’s huge. That’s a that’s a really good question because man, it’s a lot of eye candidates going out that’s going on with this team. And they have to be very disciplined when it comes to their eyes and how they utilize their eyes. And for the most part, um Kiko’s a really smart player. And you know, I think he’s going to do a really good job. you know, and the reason why we brought these other guys on because we saw something in them that they can help us. Um, special teams and when it comes to defense. So, make sure your eyes are in the right place and for the most part, man, go out there and play, you know, don’t don’t try to hold anything back. Go out there and play. When you have you make a mistake, we’ll correct you. All right? But just keep going. Couple more. Do you have um you have any memories of McDaniel? Uh, yeah, I do. Um, really good receiver coach at that point. Um I think he’s a very very um bright individual when it comes to uh to offensive football. Um obviously we know what he does what he’s done in the run game when he came from San Francisco. Um and he was a huge part of of helping Cal, you know, when we was in uh in Cleveland as far as how the offense is going. And I don’t see that changing when it comes to how these guys, you know, run their offense. um they create some issues and obviously they create issues with the personnel that they have but the scheme creates issues also and a lot of that has to do with him. So um we have to be on top of our game which we will be and um again we expect to go out there and do well. Okay. Thanks everybody. All right.

Jets win against Miami and go on a 5-1 run .
Go JETS
Keep chopping wood guys 👍
Costello of course with another dumb ass question about how important is a win 'this' week. AG did fine holding back laughter..as if wins are less important depending on the week. It is no wonder players and coaches have so little regard for Jets beat!
Being at the top of your game every week isn't realistic??? That's all you need to know from this regime.
This is not war. Football is a game. Play the game. Have fun. NYJets, be fun. Please!
Jets are in top 10 in red zone efficiency which is shicking to me
This team always seems to have a good week of practice but lose. Maybe we need to sit out a week of practice. Couldn't turn out any worse.
Still evaluating Kanoble
Kene would be good for special teams. Reynolds’s back maybe put Gshine in the slot more use our TEs as well. Kinda want Glenn to put his foot down and take over defense calling. I see Tanner growth and I appreciate Glenn being geared towards the offense but Wilks defensive scheme is not working!
No more speeches coach..let's win some games..
Let's win. Some GAMES….
AG. Just be AG. The One Pride is watching, supporting and encouraging. J.E.T.S fans hang in there. AG and company will get it done. Excellence takes time. One Pride.
I live in Miami. They are gonna run screens all day. We suck on defense against the screen. And the league knows this. Screen achane screen Tyreek. Buckle up 😢

Oh no… not the famous it’s been a great week of prep
Sorry coach, but you keep saying every week has been a good week of prep and the team never shows it on the field. Please change your tune.
We love AG! Go JETS!
Coach Glenn is a very positive attitude with his team! I hope that JETS fans can learn something from him
Based on their playing history neither of them are that good so make no difference who will start.
So pretty everyone is doing a good job. lol
Get breece hall the ball in space
I believe Justin never had a concussion they were just sitting him down for a week cause he was terrible. Signing Justin Fields was the dumbest thing Glenn has done so far, he cant read defenses and panics in the pockets. Just awful.
We believe in u ag
AGNB
I think there are 2 options this year . 1 . ScreenVariety Tv , 2. official website
Mister mayor Jeffrey and honorable police commissioner I'm raising awareness about the alcohol sold at the big league games and how is the highschool study buddy appointed by the gym teacher health doing

Jets win 23-20
Looking for a first win of the season on week 4…0-4? Potential means absolutely nothing. Good luck Jets. We’re still here with you. Sad but here.
This team just plain sucks.
