Alvin Kamara on Giants defense, Kendre Miller | New Orleans Saints

Uh, I mean they got some they got some great athletes over there. They got uh Brian Kon. Um, you know, the Young Buck, uh, Carter. Um, they got some guys in the back end. Got some backers that, um, do a good job of what they, uh, uh, their defensive coordinator asked them to do. So, just got to be sound in our assignments. Um, be physical and, you know, just stay ahead of the chains, play good football. Have you been impressed with how dangerous Spencer has been with his legs? Oh, I mean I I I feel like I knew it. Like I I’ve seen it. Um you know, he’s he’s an athlete, but uh I think a lot of people get surprised when the quarterback takes off with, you know, that that much decisiveness, you know. Um and it’s an asset. So, um you know, hopefully Tason don’t take away from from Spencer running. I know finding a running mate has been key, but how beneficial has it been and what’s it been like having Kings alongside you this year? It’s been good. You know, like I said, um you know, he I think he’s getting his feet right. Um and just finding his groove, so I think uh he’s just going to get keep getting better. You said earlier in the week that finally being able to play alongside you helps has helped to better the relationship. So how do you think that’s really helped the bond between the two of you? Uh I mean we always together so I mean we always bonding but uh you know just seeing him make plays um I think his confidence is just getting higher so it’ll be good for us. Then through the quarter of the season, just how do you feel like the first four? You’re still searching for the win, but where do you guys? Uh still searching for a win. That’s all I got on that through the first quarter. Uh we’ll get better. We’ll we’ll we’ll just we just got to keep working. See where it goes? A lot of football left. From a from your position, like is there anything different about like running in pistol as opposed to like from under center? Yeah, I mean your your field of view kind of changes a little bit um from pistol. Quarterback’s closer to you. kind of like I mean Spencer not invisible so I can’t really sometimes you can’t see through the it might be a linebacker right in front of Spencer and I got to like look over and kind of see so it’s it’s just different cuz we didn’t we haven’t ran a lot of pistols since I’ve been here so getting to it this year um I mean I’m not opposed to it but uh there is definitely some differences and some challenges with it in pistol just naturally I think you end up um a little bit behind uh some of the blocking schemes which is good for some others you got to you got to kind of manipulate it a little bit differently, but um like I said, I’m not opposed to it. Short motion handoffs. Do you like that kind of getting in motion before that? I don’t really like it cuz it’s more running, but I mean it it works so it works. But if I’m being honest, like it’s like I got to run 10 yards before I get the ball and then run another 10 yards. It’s like extra. You talked about still trying to get that win. How do you balance the perseverance with patience knowing that you guys have been so close to three out of the four games? Um There’s no issues with that. I don’t really It’s like red or green for me. It’s like you win or you lose. So, I mean, you just got to keep working. You dust it off. Um, come back in the next week and and try to be better. Don’t um lose sight of your process and keep moving. Have you been impressed by the way Spencer’s been able to dust it off or what have you? Yeah. I mean, I don’t I don’t think like for me answering questions about Spencer, um the you going to be pretty dry cuz I mean, like I said from the beginning, I think he’s approached since he’s come in, he’s approached everything like a pro. Like I don’t I don’t see a young dude when I look at Spencer. I mean, he just he he he’s confident in what he does. I mean, he has his own process. Um he has a he he he has he leads in a in a in a in a way that, you know, doesn’t make you feel like he’s a younger dude. So with him, like I I expect it from him. Like I wouldn’t not to not give him any credit, but I’m not like impressed like, “Oh my gosh, look at this young guy. We’re losing and he’s still getting getting up and taking hits and not He doing what he’s supposed to do.” Kendry has that 104 yards after initial contact of his 124. Like what’s so impressive about his ability to get through that initial contact? Yeah, I mean he makes plays. I mean he he he he has good uh contact balance. Um he’s strong. He’s a strong guy and I think he has good vision, you know. So, I mean, all those things help help. I think when he has opportunities to, you know, get some clean runs where he’s not getting contacted too much, I mean, you’ll even you’ll see even more flashes of somebody that’s that’s able to be productive in this league. So, you know, like I said, excited for him to um, you know, get more reps and more um more success. You’re you’re happy with him taking on that that part of it, all that contact. Oh, I mean, yeah. you got to you go he going to take some of it. I I He’ll He’ll be all right. He’ll be all right.
