TIGERS POSTCAST: MOVING ON! Detroit Tigers BEAT Cleveland Guardians, Advance To ALDS To Face Seattle

This is the Tigers Post Cast, your instant game reaction for the Detroit Tigers, part of the Locked On Network, your team every day. Can you even believe it? The Detroit Tigers did it. They really did it. They’re moving on to the ALDS. Welcome into a live locked on Tigers post. I am your host Jake Rema. You can follow me on Twitter, Jake_Rapma. And it’s the day none of us, hand up. None of us thought we would see the Tigers winning a playoff series on the road in Cleveland. A thrilling six-3 win over the Guardians to end the wildcard series in a winner take all best of three game. As always, this is your home for instant reactions. It’s the Lockdown Tigers postgame show. Make sure you like today’s video. Go ahead and subscribe as well. And wow, do we have a ton to get to. What a wild game. The Tigers are moving on. That’s first and foremost. Dylan Dingler hits a clutch solo go-ahad home run. And the Tigers offense finally. Finally, finally. I saw someone put on Twitter, when is the the the dam of scoring with runners in or hitting with runners in scoring position going to break? It broke in the seventh inning. Finally, the Tigers break it wide open. Of course, we’ve got some fireworks in the ninth or in the eighth inning. It can’t be easy, but a wild play from Will Vest. And in the end, it’s the Detroit Tigers moving moving on. So, as always, your comments are welcome. Fire up that comment section. Let me know what you thought of this one. An incredible afternoon at Progressive Field. Shout out to the Everydayers that are on this program every single day. And any Tigers fans that were behind enemy lines at the Tigers vers Guardians game today or at any portion of this series, let me know what that atmosphere was like. Would love to hear from you as well. I know my grandparents were at all three games because they’re crazy Tigers fans. So, uh, Ron, MJ, love you guys and, uh, hope you had just a whale of a time. I’m sure you did. But my goodness, as always, we’ll have our biggest talking point, our turning point, and our player of the game. But I had to chuckle a little bit when on the ESPN broadcast just now and I did want to catch some of the postgame before hopping on. I had to chuckle a little bit when uh the onfield reporter Taylor McGregor with Dylan Dingler said a lot of people pound counted you guys out. A lot of people doubted you. Of course we did. The Tigers team blew the biggest division lead in MLB history. Of course people were counting them out. And I know we’re going to get some comments about that, but in the end, playoff baseball and the Detroit Tigers are moving on. How about it? How about it? A 6-3 win over the Cleveland Guardians. Let’s start where we always do our biggest talking point. Tell a friend about this one. Where would you start? This is what you’ll be talking about. It’s the Detroit Tigers ability to overcome a little bit of adversity. And in a tie game, you got to give some credit to the hometown kid, Dylan Dingler. They talked a lot about it on the ESPN broadcast, but his solo home run to put the Tigers up 2 to one. Really, you could feel the of course you could feel the anxious energy from the opposition on the Cleveland side of things. Of course, you could feel the excitement and the anticipation of the Tigers moving closer and closer to a a series win, but the rest of the guys picking this team up with an incredible start to that uh that seventh inning when they broke it all open. Let’s go to that seventh inning because we got to give this guy some love. And hand up, I’m sometimes his biggest critic and I understand. I understand I deserve this, but Javi freaking Bayz, what a series. I’ll say something nice about Jav Bayz. Why not? Because he was incredible in this series. Five for 10 and he gets that seventh inning going with a lead off double that set the scene. He was a table setter in that inning. And even though the Tigers were only up two to one at that point, you could feel the momentum and you could feel the opportunity to add on some insurance. And of course, that’s where you have to go next because I understand that the the the um but really listen, we I know we had a lot of people in the comments saying this team needs to bunt more. They got to bunt more. And they do. They absolutely do. And Parker Meadows lays one down. His speed able to beat it out. So, not just advancing the runner to third with less than two outs, but how about first and third? Nobody out. You intentionally walk uh intentionally walk um uh what’s it? Uh well, Glabber grounds out. That’s right. Um Glabber grounds out and then Carpenter intentionally walked to load the bases. And I know with the bases loading, one out, we’ve we’ve just all had those those nightmares of this Tigers team and their inability to hit with runners in scoring position for this series. And that all changed in the top of the seventh inning. Bases loaded. Wel Paris, how about this? The guy was 0 for nine. 0 for nine in the series before that at bat. A lot of people were upset with where he was hitting in the order and understandably so because he looked like he he was just lost at the plate. He looked completely lost at the plate. And that’s why playoff baseball is so funny sometimes because Wel Paris singles home two runs. Bayas scores. Parker Meadow scores. Karp goes up to third. Spencer Torqulson keeps it going. And Riley Green keeps it going. And say what you will say what you will about those guys because they had really struggled in this series. But AJ Hinch trusted them. Got to give AJ Hinch a lot of credit. He had Wel Perez at third third in the lineup. And again, I saw the lineup card come out and I thought, why is Wel Perez hitting third? Wel Perez hitting third. What are we doing? And then you had Riley Green who struggled, Patrick Tolson who had struggled. I guess flipped those two in the order, but you get the point. The heart of the order had struggled so much and they still they get it done when it meant the most. So that’s my biggest talking point. Let’s get into some comments. Of course, the Tigers moving on to face Seattle. Playoff baseball will be back in the Motor City. The Tigers for back-to-back years win the Wildcard Series on the road. Last year was in Houston. This year on the road in Cleveland and they send the Guardians home. Um who listen, we’ve had a lot of Guardians fans in the comments. I sure I don’t read every single comment, but I know Guardians fans watch this stream. Hell of a season for them. The way they came back in the division, they deserve a lot of credit. They really do. And they overachieved. They outkicked their covers. Whatever sports cliche you want to add to it, the Guardians deserve a lot of credit. It is kind of wild in, you know, the biggest play of the Guardians comeback with Jose Ramirez getting thrown out at second that it’s a guy like Jose Ramirez who’s the heart and soul of this of that Guardians team that he was thrown out at second, not running uh in a dead sprint after uh he rounded first on that play. And I know I’m bouncing all over the place, but um and and I don’t blame Jos Ramirez for getting thrown out and or trapped in the rundown in game one, but two pivotal plays for the Tigers to advance past the Guardians came on base running or really just catching Jos Ramirez between bases on multiple occasions and and who knows what happens if the Tigers don’t get out of that inning at that particular point. um in in the eighth inning of course I’m talking so my goodness appreciate everybody tuning in. I love this comment from Noah Murray because we add a little humor to this program and uh he says the Tigers now won as many series in October as they did in September. Just incredible th this story the you just can’t write a better story. You really can’t. If ESPN’s 30 for30 docs want to get on this one um that what you know what if I told you the Tigers blew the biggest lead in the division. Now, we’ll see where it goes from there. Okay, Travis Wayne, appreciate your comments, saying, “Never uh doubt.” I got to skip the one adjective he had in there, obviously. Demetrius McNeel chiming in. He says, “You and I talk about runners in scoring position that cost the Tigers in game two. They shut us up. 5 for 12. Next up, Seattle.” That’s right. Hey, you go 5 for12 with runners in scoring position, you’re going to like the outcome. That’s for sure. Most the time. It’s Todd says, “I love this team, baby. I don’t know if he’s being sarcastic or not because at times I hate this team. At times I love this team. It is what it is. R1 VJ4 says, “All man keeps the blood flowing. Perez made it a huge inning. Bias started this monster rally. Great stuff.” Um Ewurn says, “Feels good to get this win against Arch Fo Cleveland. Won’t think about Seattle for a couple of days.” That’s right. Let’s enjoy this one and let’s uh we’ll look ahead to Seattle towards the end of today’s uh live postgame show, but this is about the Detroit Tigers and it’s about them getting the dub. And shout out to Jav Bayz. We might hear about him later on in the program. We’ll have our player of the game and of course our biggest talk turning point. Gareth Ridings, he’s an everyday fantastic game. Good stuff. And you know what? I think the chat is taken off with some some banter, some trash talk back and forth. So, I’m going to retire from the chat for the rest of the program and I’ll leave that to be um a show that’s got a producer that can sort through all of the different uh comments there. But what about the Detroit Tigers? They lose a 15 and a halfame lead. They have an epic collapse. We’re down on them. Hand up. I’m down on them. What’s there not to be down on them by? Because again, this everyone that doubted this Tigers team earned that right to doubt them. As bad as that sounds to say, it’s the God honest truth because you have to go with the proof and the product on the field. But let’s get into our biggest turning point. Time to reveal where the game was won or lost. It’s the turning point. Probably not fair to do this, but I got to pick a couple. You got to pick a couple. We haven’t mentioned Jack Flity yet. He gave this team a chance to win and that’s a credit to him. It wasn’t always pretty and you know four and two/3 as a starter doesn’t go the the length enough to qualify for the win. So Kyle Finnegan gets the win. But until that eighth inning, this Tigers bullpen just fantastic. So Flity goes four and two/3, strikes out four, gave up just the one earned run. And then I mean like I said, Finnegan gets the win. Tyler Holton’s really good. Um, Kanley not so great uh given up the two hits there and the two runs that were technically his when Vest came in. But, uh, yeah, again, a wild play there where Vest has the air, but still the presence of mind after the ball hits him in the face to run over, corral it, and make a throw on the money and Javias applying the tag like he always does. How about our player of the game? This is the locked on player of the game. I got to go player of the series and it’s Jav Bayas. As much as I mean this is what’s so crazy about baseball. If you would have told me Jav Bias would be your most valuable offensive weapon in a three-game wildcard series on the road, I would have thought you were crazy. But here we are. Jav Bayas has the huge hit, the double today to start that rally. Five for 10 overall in the series. really maybe the series would have even been over yesterday if uh the Tigers didn’t uh commit such a horrific base running error on his big hit yesterday. He’s the only one that had a hit with runners in scoring position. Um but we got to give some love to Dylan Dingler as well. That go ahead home run huge for the Tigers. But I mentioned Jav Bayz just incredible production from the bottom portion of that lineup and continuing to get it done. So just incredible every all the way around from this Tigers team. The morale is high. Now the Tigers get the benefit of entering a series with a heck of a lot of momentum. And if you believe in momentum, which I do, I think that’s a worthwhile talking point and in a serious um ad to this Tigers team compared to the Seattle Mariners who were sitting at home over the course of the wildard series. Now, of course, that all goes out the window when game one takes place in Seattle. Um, interesting note, the Tigers were swept by Seattle in Detroit, but won two of three um of this season in Seattle. So, Seattle won the season series four games to two, but the Tigers did take two of three from the Mariners in Seattle. So, looking forward to that. Um, and of course, you know, we’ll continue to have the postgame shows all the way leading up or as long as as long as the Tigers are alive. That’s for sure. and uh that’s part of what makes this so fun. So, as far as the schedule, the Tigers and the Mariners uh will begin uh Saturday. Game time has not been announced just yet, but we’ll have that postgame for show for you on Saturday, October 4th. Um, wow, what a ride. What a ride. And I think Gary Meyers makes a really great point here. I lied. We’ll go back to some comments. What bad season. That’s a bunch of crap. Dingler was our best average hitting and outstanding behind the plate. He sure was. I uh backed that Dylan Dingler and I know a lot of people did. He had some struggles earlier in the postseason, but was much much better. Um and of course the the solo home run helps a lot as well. So, wow. Tigers win. Moving on in the postseason. Cleveland goes home. Incredible effort from the boys this afternoon. Much better with runners in scoring position. Just for fun. Just for fun. At the end of the program, we’ll go through the stats with the runners in scoring position compared to yesterday. So yesterday 1 for 15, 15 men left on base. Today 5 for 12 with eight men left on base. So Wel Paris has a big hit. Spencer Tolson, Riley Green, Carrie Carpenter, everybody getting hits with runners in scoring position. Will Vest also very clutch this season. You got to love it. Tyler Parker says that and I appreciate that. So, hey, this was a lot of fun and we’re going to keep it rolling. Tigers beat the Cleveland Guardians. End their season 6 to3. The final move on to face the Seattle Mariners game one on Saturday. game time to be announced. Appreciate everybody tuning in. As always, I appreciate uh each and every one of you that like today’s video. Make sure you subscribe to the Locked On Tigers YouTube channel if you missed anything today. 1. Tribe fan here. First of all congrats to the Tigers. Great series with 2 evenly matched teams. Can't say I'll be rooting for the Tigers, but I wish y'all good luck. The Tigers are a better hitting team than the Tribe.Cleveland pitchers bobbed and weaved for the entire series, but the Tigers hitters finally came through. Good Luck.

  2. Hinch not going for the division win is unconscionable. To lose a 15 game lead is so I just cant let go of, Iโ€™m sick over it. The only team in the universe who could lose a 15 game lead are the tigers.

  3. The Tigers didn't so much beat the Guardians as their bullpen ran out of gas. If the Guardians had Clase and Ortiz then they probably would have taken this last game. Remember that Clase is an all-star reliever and Ortiz was the top Guardian pitcher. Now before you saying they were guilty of gambling, remember that the charges against Ortiz were from the 2024 season, when he was on the Padres. If anyone was guilty of questionable play, its the Tiger hitters from yesterday's game, when they were 1 for 15 with RISP. Someone must have made a killing betting on that.

  4. Congrats Tigers, good luck the rest of the way. Hopefully this gets the bats going and you can make a deep run. My Guardians carriage turned back to a pumpkin.

  5. As a person who used to play baseball and now plays softball, I really respect what Baez did. He deliberately became more of a contact hitter, in order to help the team. He cut down on his swing for more contact. I used to overswing, trying to show how far I could hit it. Someone told me to cut down on the swing and watch the ball. My results improved drastically. I appreciate what Baez did.

  6. Not this series, but I was at the game on 09/23/25 when David Fry got hit in the face. Electric atmosphere up there in Cleveland. Gotta respect their fans for sticking with them til the very end, but man do I wish I was there to hear that crowd go dead silent tonight! LETS GO TIGERS!!!!

  7. What a great little series. To bad MLB has to disrespect the smaller markets and gave us lousy start times. They want all there Yankee and Dodgers fans to have all the attention.

  8. The lions beat a sorry Blown's team The Tigers beat a good Cleveland Guardians team….congratulations to Detroit …..they are better when it comes to sports……….Cleveland sports teams except the Cavaliers, are JINXED………..2016….is all Cleveland will ever have for a very long, long, long time……maybe forever ๐Ÿ˜ฎ
