New York Yankees vs Boston Red Sox | AL Wild Card Game 3 Highlights
Here come the Yankees. Ladies and gentlemen, Cam Schlleder, who grew up in the suburbs of Boston, his entire family were Red Sox fans. He said they’ve now all converted to Yankee fans. as he gets set to throw a pitch. He said he’s dreamt about his entire life, that entire life encompassing 24 years. And he will face Jiren Durant to lead things off in this must-win game three. The winner heads to Toronto to open up the division series on Saturday. Big swing and a big fast ball from Cam Schlitler. 100 miles an hour and it’s 0 and2 on a chilly 60°ree night and a broken bat. Little liner there. Soft liner to Chisum and some kindling wood after that. Story sky high on the infield. Rice underneath and there are two down 101 right down the middle and Gregman puts one up in the air that should be playable. It’s a tough one for Rice and he has it go off his glove. Cold strike three. 100 mph heater from Cam Slidler who made his way through the first without much difficulty at all. Little different than Schlitler in that he doesn’t depend on a fourse fast ball. He will throw like Max Freed the kitchen sink at you. He’s been very good. But you talk about small sample sizes, just four starts. He’s gone a sinker at 95 and early an early strike out. This one is shallow center. And it’s the right fielder coming in a Brau. And a little change up there to get Judge to fly out with two outs were when the Yankees did most of their damage last night. Six for 13. But this one on the ground off the bat of Bellinger. Story was there. And let’s hear it for these kids. 24 and 23 years old. Eight pitches for Early. Count goes two and two to Yoshida. And he bloops one into left field on a cutter at 97. A leadoff man aboard for Boston as Masa Yoshida has his third hit. Big pitch 99 right on his fists. Second strike out of the night for Slitler. Hold strike three right at the knees. A sinker at 101. On the ground, Vulpi will charge and will flip it to Rice. Another 100 mph sinker. That ball is hit hard to left field. Stanton thinks he has it and it goes off the bottom of the wall. He was looking at his bench. Now hustles to second and he is lucky to get there. He thought he hit a home run. Rice has hit 400 his last 16 games. Gone there and early fools the left-hander. O’Breer the right fielder once again calling off R offella and he is there to make the play called strike three with a sinker at 95 really ever dealt with these guys before another strike up that’s number four for he went with a cutter he’ll have to throw down to first it’s another strike up that’s five in the game for Cam Schlitler. Gisham does hit it hard. Good call, Eduardo. He struck out his first time off, but he turned around that pitch and he is aboard on the ground to Bregman and he will go across the diamond and the change up gets Judge again. He does the same thing again as he lets it travel deep. Yoshida, a couple of hits for the Red Sox tonight. Two hard hits. Raphaela, another bat splinter job from Schlitler. A sinker right in on him and they will leave Yoshida on the base pass again. Raphaela retired. We go bottom four from the middle of the Yankee order. Bellinger puts one up to shallow right. Here comes Abrao and Raphaela and he dives. Can’t come up with it into second is a hustling Bellinger. Great speed at second in Bellinger. And he does it again. And Rice is gone early early in this game. Has got the key to Ben Rice. And Rosario under the glove of Story up with it in left. Here comes Bellinger. Here’s the throw. And he’s in there. Rosario delivers. The Yankees have a one- nothing lead. And that’s why they traded for Ahmed Rosario. What are you going to do? I’m going to hit left-handed pitching. Second time around this team in pinstripes. It’s just a different beast. Jazz right center that gets down and cuts it off. Stanton had to hesitate. Wasn’t sure if it was going to be caught. The bases are loaded. Three hits in the inning for the Yankees. And that one is into right field. Abrau comes up. They will hold Rosario as the throw is backed up by Early. Two nothing. Vulty RBI on the ground. And that’s off the glove of the first baseman. Low. One runner is in. Here comes Chisum. Two runs are in. And the New York Yankees now lead it four to nothing. And the first pitch in and it got him on the wrist. And as he heads to first base, he gives Leighton a little glancing look from about 15 ft away from him. Now he looks to his bench and claps his hands as they are loaded again. First pitch swinging with the bases loaded. Bellinger, Raphaela, and Duran come close to each other. Raphaela hangs on to it. It is loud here. 48 49,000 making noise and it’s only getting louder. It’s a four nothing Yankee lead after four. Right back up the middle and that one has eyes. It gets through and Nathaniel Low leads off the fifth. Swinging a miss. That’s a strikeout and he is also gone chasing Schlitler. Seven strikeouts tonight. And Gonzalez sends one in a right that’s fielded quickly by Judge and thrown back in with a little velocity on it. Did he go? Yes, he did. John Lipka the third base up rings him up. He strikes out three in the inning. He has got eight. Very good base runner will not go. This one to second. Chisum. Good scoop by Fulpy, who’s been a wizard on the infield in this series. That’s a pick right there. He’s got nine. Yoshida way out of the strike zone for that one. Two and two. Looking for strikeout number 10. There it is. Cam Schlitler. Double figure punch outs. Sky playable. Judge is the guy coming harder. Chisum’s there and he gets out of the way wisely. A smart move by Jazz and you get a big smile from the captain and right Narvayz. This is playable. Wells right there. Two outs in the seventh inning. The 100th pitch. Looking for his 11th strikeout. There it is. Every major league city and fan base appreciates a great starting pitcher. And when Schlitler came back to the mound, they gave him a standing ovation. A dirty dozen for Slitler as Gonzalz is gone. And Duran pops it up, giving chase and making the catch and flipping into the Red Sox dugout. What a catch by McMahon. Schlitler the first one over there to congratulate him. All out on the line, guys. It was right next to me. He got his hands down to brace himself so he didn’t land on his head, his shoulders, anything like that. What an amazing play to add to an incredible night here at the stadium for the Yankees. He ran 75 ft to make the play. and Story a one pitch grounded a Vampy. Seven pitches to get through the eighth for Cam Slitler. Are we talking about a complete game? Oh, I think Boon just said that’s it. He retired nine in a row. He struck out 12 and he looked as strong in the eighth as he did in the first. You’re the only one who knows what this feels like. You tell us what he’s experiencing. The adrenaline you’re feeling right now and the satisfaction of coming through for your teammates, there’s nothing like it. And on the national stage, a star is born. Camp Sch Slitler watching now as Bednar pitches for the third time in three days. And that misses. That’s a walk for Bedar. First pitcher with eight or more scoreless and 12ks and no walks. The definition of dominance. Bounces one to Jazz. He will get the out there. Slow to transfer it. And it was slowly hit. There’s one out. One out away and a strike out of Raphael and strike number one. A very disappointing finish to last year in the World Series in game five. Not that any team needs motivation, but they had a little extra coming into this season. Yoshida will take second. This one is popped up. McMahon and the Yankees have completed step one on their way back to a World Series. concrete jungle where dreams are made out. There’s nothing you can’t do.
