Bro is preaching Faith and Family its hard to fully hate him… I just wish we weren’t funding his generational wealth. Although I rly do believe the injuries are real and he handled himself poorly early on and played the villain just to fit the role we projected onto him.
We’ve been mediocre for so long that some of us have developed stockholm syndrome
He’s a fucking tool. He likes to pretend like he’s the morally superior baseball man who loves his faith and family but if any of us performed like he has the last 5 years we’d be out on our asses. It’s really easy to make quotes like this with your fully guaranteed multi million dollar contract.
Assaulting a fan and borderline theft.. so much faith.
no mentìon of the fans who make his “job” possible in the first place
“this quote is beautiful” and its most generic athlete quote you’ve ever heard
these are words any smart man believes. it’s just fans are idiots and want their favorite players to worship their job and abandon their family lol all the ignorance the last couple seasons has made me a fan of AR. glad he’s collecting paychecks. props to him.
You can put faith/family/whatever above your job and still actually put an effort into your job.
Putting other things first just means having priorities and boundaries.
It doesn’t mean skirting your professional responsibilities, missing expectations, giving minimal effort, or contributing to the failure of your organization all while deflecting blame for your own underperformance.
On the surface, what he’s saying isn’t wrong, but when you sign a contract to do a job and then put absolutely zero effort into it, you’re a thief and a tool. We should all put our family and faith ahead of our jobs, but that doesn’t give me the right to screw over my coworkers and steal from my boss.
How does one morally justify effectively scamming a team and its fans out of a significant chunk of its resources and helping to sentence said team to even more consecutive losing seasons? What’s the Bible say about that
Man, I’ve been under the impression that a job keeps my family fed and a roof over their head. I fucked up apparently.
It’s crazy so say that knowing how everyone views him. But how would people view the quote if he was actually playing up to his contract?
TIL there are people who find a way to defend Rendon
Ahh the first days of the offseason. We have no coaching staff, our GM just delivered us a 2nd straight 90 loss season – a feat we haven’t seen in our franchise since the 68/69 seasons and is now in hiding from the media, we have 27th ranked farm and our top prospect was mismanaged so bad his contract was converted as he was sitting on the bench and he was sent down a day later because the GM forgot, our owner and team is going through a pretty shitty legal battle, our stadium is due for an inspection that’s probably going to be pretty shocking….
And of course top of mind for most people here is Rendon who hasn’t touched the field for us in over a year and will be gone next year lol.
We all get it, “Rendon bad upvotes plz edit: thanks for the awards keep on and Reddit on!”, but dudes off our team after next season and all the issues we have today will exist then too.
Because every other ballplayer is always like “I don’t care about my family or faith nearly as much as I do about playing baseball.”
Brother I love my family too but I still have to go to work every day and put in effort to do my job. This guy does not give a shit don’t defend him
For Rendon, it goes faith, family, dog, food, extended family, books, faith again, education, movies, then baseball
Anyone can speak words that the ears want to hear. One of the worst pickups that POS moreno signed.
the sentiment is nice but you dont say shit like this when you’re sidelined every season while getting a boat load of guaranteed money.
Ironically I have 0 faith in him returning. Please prove me wrong
