Elias Pettersson, Aatu Räty, & Head Coach Adam Foote Media Availabilities (Oct. 2, 2025)
Uh Fi, just this point in the preseason, how you feeling about regular season just run off? Uh feel good. Ready to get started. And uh with the power play, there’s been a lot of movement. Like it feels like when you’re watching it, it looks a little bit different. What’s the changes that you like about the power play? No, I think we just had good puck movement. Uh when we have a chance to attack, we attack. Um I think just the way we’ve been moving, uh and the puck’s been moving around, it’s been good. Seems like you guys are a lot more confident this time around. What does the work you putting in every season here mean for, you know, trying to start on the right foot as a power player? No, I mean, I’m always trying to prepare the best I can every summer and uh yeah, feel good. Really good goal. How good did it feel to pull the trigger on that one timer last night? No, felt good. Uh good good set of uh Quinn and Garly. Uh when Quinn skates in like that uh fake shoot slide over for me it’s uh I just pretty much just got to hit the net. So um was uh felt good. Is it different? I mean obviously barley right from over there. Do you find you have to move to set yourself up different that kind of a shot? I mean uh I have to move to make the pass he’s making easier. So as much as it’s on them to find me and vice versa. The passers got to get the available better too. Um, and I think we’ve been doing a good job on that so far. Friendly shot. It looked like you got your move. Just weren’t able to I think I think I hit the knob on the goalie. Uh, did the move I wanted, but yeah, just got to work on my logs. It’s early days so far. I got to the line with the rust. Feel good. Uh, both looking great. Um still think we can create some more uh on five on five. Um but that will come the more we play and more games we get in. But uh so far it feels good. On Coup so far just what he’s been able to do throughout preseason training camp. Oh, it looks good. Um he’s he looks very really good for being uh he’s 18, right? Yeah. So he looks very good. Um, obviously a lot of talent, works hard, and uh, they do a lot of stuff off this that I see very good as well. How good do you feel coming out of the game last night for the group and for your own performances? Yeah, I think we we played really well as a team. Obviously, a lot of guys were able to score and and I think I mean, we played good, but I mean, seven 71 or 81, it’s a lot of goals, but I think everything everything was working and I yeah, I like the way I played. I like the way our line line played. How good do you feel to see so many of the guys that were big parts of the run in Abbottzford last year chipping it off the score sheet last night too? Yeah, it’s it’s great to see. Obviously a lot of guys are are making making good runs playing playing really good. So it’s always always great to see obviously really good friends of mine. So always always looking and looking for them to score and and and do well today. How do you feel to playing the wing versus playing center where you’re regularly? Yeah, it’s a little different, but I think uh the way the way we play like the way that the game is now, it’s always just the the lowest guys filling in for this as a as a center in the Done. So, it’s not that much different. There’s a plenty plenty of times when I’m playing center and I’m almost more at the wing just just the way everything works out of the fore and everything, but it’s a little bit different. We’ll we’ll see if we split play stops or something, but Seriously, how do you feel as Cam’s coming along here? Obviously, you had an injury at the end of last season. How do you feel this game picked up a bit over the years? Yeah, I think I think it’s been okay. I I think I I think I can play better, but hasn’t hasn’t been bad. So, I think it’s it’s been just fine. Focus on the goals that get scored, but when you evaluate your own play, what have you most pleased with this last couple of games? I mean, just I think three or four games now haven’t been giving up any goals against. So, I think that’s a big thing. Obviously, trying to be trying to be solid in the Done and and and not not trying to give any anything against and and yeah, like you said, like you can you can have a bad game, but have have a shot going. So, you can’t just really be be all about that, but it’s also I mean, it’s good to be scoring. I think I’ve had some had some good shots. Had had one go pretty close last game, too. So, it’s it’s good to be scoring, but yeah, I think just most happy about not giving anything against. Well, how pleased are you coming out of the performance last night from all four lines and and all 60 everything in the game? Yeah, I mean it’s preseason and you know there were some good things that happened when we played. I didn’t like our start. Um but we hung in there and um Lanks played well at the beginning. They had a couple great A’s, but um that’s what a good goalie does for you and uh I like the way we stuck to it though and we got better in our system. We had a lot of drives. uh good offensive, you know, guys were guys were skating hard. How hard are some of the guys that are battling for roster spots making some of your decisions as an organization right now with some of the good performances you’ve had here? Yeah, that’s what you want. You want to have harder decisions. Just means you have more depth um with their youth and um they’ve been playing really hard uh for sure like you said and that’s a good thing. wave crafts off today obviously shrinks the number. Um, you know, what are you looking at with your last group of guys when considering who might start? What am I looking for? Yeah. Well, dependability or being reliable. I mean, the points will come and it’s more of getting that out of their head that they don’t have to produce. You always want them to produce, but if they’re doing the right things, the production will come through time, right? It’s more of playing the right way so doesn’t back to your net. And I think it takes a little bit of pressure off them as well when you uh you know our whole life living in North America it’s about numbers. Yeah. And it’s it’s overrated early in a year for a young guy to make it. You want them to be more reliable at the blue lines. Who’s managing the game? Who’s on the ice? If McDavid’s on the ice, are we forcing it at the blues? Things like that. And um they’re get they’re getting better and better at it. Losing hoggy obviously not easy. Um, how does that influence what you’re looking for in terms of that stuff? Yeah. Well, that’s that’s a Huggies, you know, he’s a bull. He’s on those pucks in a good for checker and things like that and um but you know, that’s pro pro sports where you just have to move on the next man up as you all heard that and um you know there’s guys fighting for that spot and and uh it’s a good fight. in PD for this season. I mean, he’s looked strongly from better, but is is some of him, too, just learning about the fact he’s not 21-y old guy who can just kind of get away with maybe stuff that he used to be able to get with, but now he’s an older player. I think I know which PD you’re talking about. Yes. The forward. Yeah. Yeah. No, I just I knew what you’re talking about, but sometimes you got to you got to clarify, but not not you. I mean, I just want to make sure. Yeah. Uh well, I think it’s just growth. I mean, when you have such a start that he had here initially, I wasn’t here, but you know, it’s it’s it’s amazing and you get caught more maybe in it feels good in the sophomore Jim Singh. I’m not going to go back to the past cuz I wasn’t here. But um it seems to me that he’s what I’ve seen right now is he’s taken a real hard leadership role which which is very noticeable recognize it and his teammates notice it and his teammates are with him on it too. Like Demer’s with him and they’re uh you know you look at the great players that continue to be great and they keep getting better. Crosby for example, he’s always working on his game no matter if he’s in year 15. And um you know Ryan O’Reilly’s that type of guy and that’s why they can keep staying in the game and keep improving every year on some of the things they got to get better at. And I think I just seen him just just a different mindset. And you know what that’s not necessarily me or the change. It’s might be just maturity himself in general like uh but I I I don’t want to have to really pinpoint it. But the nice thing is that it’s it’s we can see it happening now. Just want to see him sustain it. Forward and Joseph today. Can you explain that? Yeah, four is just we’re managing him. I mean 8-1 uh he had some tweaks during training camp. My main concern for him is to play in home opener, right? Uh great penalty killer. Um so we don’t want to push that. Give him give him his minutes condition. He won’t play tomorrow night. We’ll uh we’ll make sure that he gets extra days. I felt like maybe in camp we brought him back one day too soon. Uh just I just want to make sure he’s clear. Yeah, he’s got a growing issue that happened the last previous practice late late the last drill and um just a tweak. So, he can’t he can’t go for us right now. Van only played the one preseason game. Uh is that a veteran playing the veteran card here or is that by design or something tells me I didn’t want to I didn’t want to play in Calgary and you guys can figure that one out. So, um I probably would have liked to play him there, but if it was a different squad probably, but you know, he’s a pro. He’s I like what I like is from his training camp till now, his effort and like being a veteran uh he’s he’s getting his legs. You can tell on some of the drills when he’s ready to go, he’s getting his legs and I don’t mind him starting uh a little bit easier at the beginning of practices just to make sure he’s he’s conditioned right and get gets loosened up. Yeah, I think a lot of people think, oh, final preseason game, full dress rehearsal, it’s going to be an NHL team, but you still have some decisions to make. So, how do you It’s pretty full. I mean, like I mean, Edmonton’s going to put a full lineup in, right? And and we it doesn’t even matter what Edmonton does or whoever comes in here, we we want our 90% of it solid, ready to go. Um, if there are some guys with some maintenance would take that time in a condensed Oh, you’re gonna hear me say condensed season a lot because you got to make sure that you don’t lose a guy by pushing him in too early in situations like this right now. So, we’ll we’ll try to do the right thing.

Can never tell if pettersson is happy or unhappy
I like Foote's responses. He sounds like head coach.
With 11.6 I hope he's happy.

I love the noise in the background. hahahaha
I just feel like the vibes are so good and positive so far, I know it’s just preseason, but it feels like we’re gonna get off to a good start.

Big J Begsey slipping the interrogatives in the Big Leagues! Also cursing RATY! 😂
someone still isn't hitting the net
Wow Räty barely has an accent
How does a guy named Autu Raty speak with less of an accent than I do?
