Jaguars Running, Blocking With Grit vs. 49ers | Film Room

[Music] Welcome into the film room presented by Microsoft Co-Pilot Plus PC. The Jaguars have a top five rushing attack in the National Football League and another successful outing on the ground in San Francisco. It does require scheme and talent to run the football, but it takes a lot more grit and want to. Let’s jump into the film. A successful run early in the ball game. Walker Little, Ezra Cleveland, a double team up to the linebacker. They do an excellent job of accomplishing movement. That’s what it takes. Movement off of the line of scrimmage. And then Brenton Strange. Look at the job that he’s doing on the defensive end. Not many tight ends in the league can take on a defensive end by themselves. Brenton is one of them. But you want to talk about grit and want to, how about the Heisman Trophy winner, Travis Hunter and Parker Washington. Head coach Liam Con has said wide receivers need to block in the scheme. Man, look at this. Travis Hunter, you want to talk about finishing some grit and some want to absolutely love it. And ETN’s 48 yd touchdown run. We’re going to start with a block with Walker Little and Brenton Strange on the defensive end. And that’s where the successful beginning is because you’ve got to get outside and ETN’s got great speed and Walker Little ties up the end just enough to where he can get to the outside. And then Brenton Strange, he is so good. I’m the president of his fan club. Outstanding block on the safety, gets him out of the play. But look at Brian Thomas Jr. as well getting a block on the defensive back. That springs ETN. And one more thing to point out, Ezra Cleveland on Fred Warner, but the beauty of this play falls with ETN himself because of the speed getting to the outside. And then there’s one defender to beat. That’s the safety who has the angle. And a younger ETN may not make this move, but watch this move. That inside juke right there. Watch the defender. Watch the safety. Gathers his feet. That was all that he needed to be able to get to the outside to spring him for the touchdown. I love the grit. I love the determination. But I love the want to the most.

Jeff Lageman rolls the tape on Week 4 and breaks down two big Travis Etienne runs and shows how the tough blocking performance helped the Jaguars get the win against the 49ers. Check it out on Film Room, powered by Microsoft Copilot+PC.

  1. Really like the complementary football being played most of the game. Opportunistic defense leading to offense chasing in with points. That kind of goes away at times when the offense is stagnant, need to fix that but running the ball with attitude is the heart of a good team.
