On today's Braves Today podcast…I won't list all of it, go listen for yourself, but a couple of examples:

No one in Gwinnett liked him for good reason. He refused to acknowledge the bus driver, he refused to be included in the Gwinnett Stripers team card set, he was often out of the lineup because he didn't show up on time (manager would have to submit lineups and he couldn't put him in bc he didn't know if he would show up), skipped events, training, etc.

Edit: it sounds like kelenic guy on this sub could really be Kelenic based on these real life examples

  1. That’s a shame. He’ll hopefully grow out of this. But some folks, me included, don’t get their act together until they are 30. Good luck.

  2. Seems like poor pedigree if you ask me.

Profar, White, and whoever else they bring offer a lot more than what we ever saw out of Kelnic. Maybe he turns it around elsewhere but it won’t be here and nothing of value was lost in LF. It’s shame because of what he could be as a player.

  3. He always seemed like a dumb fuck so this isn’t really surprising. What a waste. All that pedigree, but a 10¢ head.

  4. I really really hope he turns out to actually be Kelenic guy.

    That would be HILARIOUS.

  5. Holy shit, what a crap teammate. Good riddance. Will miss the kelenic guy in this sub though

  6. Most of the articles about him say that he has the talent but hasn’t put it together on the field. Maybe Chipper Jones should take him on a hunting trip and leave him in the wild if Kel doesn’t listen to him. /s (maybe)

  7. Saw him when Braves came to Cincinnati to play the day before the speedway series. He refused to sign autographs because he was “sick”. Meanwhile albies, Baldwin, elder, Harris and others signed even with their families around

  8. I almost feel bad for Kelenic. Almost.

I get it. He had high expectations for his career. From the getgo here, he expected to be the starting left fielder for the Braves. Before the season even started, he was put in a platoon with a washed up Adam Duvall.

Kelenic hit a stride when Acuña was injured and he could be in the spotlight by leading off. Eventually that magic went away for whatever reason, maybe he was just slumping, but Kelenic looked like what we thought he could be.

By the time 24 ended, Kelenic was getting next to zero play time. I don’t think he made a plate appearance at all in the postseason.

2025 rolls around and he knows his time is short. I think he pressed too hard to try and prove he belongs in the major league club and that maybe signing Profar and Verdugo were mistakes. He fucked up by not hustling on that almost homer and the story goes that he cried about it in Snit’s office. At that point, he still cared.

But then he got optioned and then he didn’t get traded.

    Jarred Kelenic gave up.

His behavior is immature and unbecoming. He is convincing no one that he deserves a spot on a big league roster and maybe not even a minor league one.

I’m not upset we gave him a chance. We all saw what he could have been. I’m definitely not upset the experiment is over though.

  9. So first, I am not at all shocked that uncle Jesse would be super respectful to everyone and just a general standup dude.

Second, you got demoted to the minors and you decide to be a lazy bastard? That feels like the dumbest choice. Baseball is already an absurdly, difficult sport and, as the host said, you can’t be both bad and an asshole. I agree with him, I’ll be shocked if anyone gives him a major league contract . Maybe somebody gives him a minor league deal and a spring training invite, but I’d be shocked at anything more than that at this point.

  10. Felt like something was off about this dude from the very start and the psychotic gimmick poster here didn’t help matters. Glad to see that once again my judgements appear to have been on point.

  11. Feels like the team needs someone in the front office to do research on players and detailed evaluations in advance.

  12. He gave up. You could see it in his last few games before he was sent down and it has completely ruined his mentality

  13. Glad he’s gone. Sounds as egotistical as kelenic guy. Maybe that is why he didn’t show up – too busy posting on reddit

  14. I said from jump if an offensively challenged team like Seattle gives up on you before your 25th birthday then something has to be wrong.

Seitzer who deserves apologies was scapegoated because we all still had 2023 nostalgia was then hired by the Mariners and now is a god over there for the improvement that offense has shown while we got stuck with a clown who couldn’t even show up to work on time.

It makes sense honestly because there was little reason not to at least roster him down the stretch of the season and looks like now we know why he never got recalled.

  15. I won’t go into details on how I know this..but it’s very well known inside the Mariners clubhouse that Jarred Kelenic got the absolute shit kicked out of him by a teammate because he was such a douche bag. The players know who it was but would never say who it was and it stayed in the clubhouse.

Nobody loves Jarred Kelenic more than Jarred Kelenic.

  16. I just had this conversation about 2 hours ago at a local card shop. This guy was huge mariners fan. We talked about Kelenic and how he had potential but always seemed to not give a shit. Maybe he thought his talent would carry him. There are tons of guys that are great but have to work hard and then there are the handful that are blessed to be amazing without hard work. I guess he thought he was one of those rare unicorns
