Bengals INSTANT Reaction & News After 28-3 Loss To Broncos: Zac Taylor On The HOT SEAT

[Music] The Cincinnati Bengals fall 28-3 on Monday Night Football in what was just from beginning to end an abysmal performance by this Bengals team. Like that first drive of the game, you’re actually being able to run the ball, but then after that, nothing worked at all for this Bengals offense or defense. Frankly, penalties hurt the Bengals the entire time throughout this game today. It was really, really just a bad performance. You also had uh Jamar Chase was yelling at um you know, Zack Taylor on the sidelines cuz they weren’t feeding him the ball. Nothing went right for this Bengals team tonight. So, we’re going to break it all down here on today’s show. Some of my takeaways, some of my biggest takeaways after this Monday Night Football loss. All right, before we get into some of the takeaways, uh really the only key injury to talk about here today is going to be Charlie Jones. He ended up leaving in the third quarter with a right ankle injury. He was questionable to return. Ended up not returning. I got to assume it was because this game was way just far out of reach by that point. There was no point for Charlie Jones to end up going back in the game in if he could go in the game. So, we’ll continue to monitor it. We’ll see what comes out tomorrow um and the next day for, you know, the press conferences and things like that when it comes to Charlie Jones’s injury. But, um, that was really the big one that we needed to touch on, um, you know, injury-wise for the Bengals. All right, let’s get into some takeaways for this Monday Night Football loss against the Broncos. Penalties. Number one, you absolutely killed yourself with penalties tonight. It was It was abysmal. It was one of the worst performances I saw. Um, you know, in in terms of the amount of penalties that you had called on you tonight. You had 11 penalties for 65 yards in this game. Every single time the Bengals had a play that was positive. What happened came back because of a penalty. It almost seemed like there should have been way more penalties in this game. There were 18 in total. 11 by the Bengals, seven by the Broncos. You had eight penalties at halftime, which it still it seemed like even more than that. But they even throw up a nice little stat for us right as we were going to halftime that was tied for the most penalties in the first half of a Bengals game in the last 15 years. Every single time you had something good go right for you. It just came back because of a penalty. I think it was early in that second half. You hit T. Higgins all the way down to the 20 yardd line. It was like a 37yd pass. Beautiful pass by Jake Browing to T. Higgins. Try to get some things started. Comes back because of a penalty in the first half. If my count is correct, you had like six pre- snap penalties. What does that come down to? In my opinion, comes down to coaching. And we’ll talk about coaching here in just a second. But I want to hear from you guys down at the pin comment of today’s show. Grade the Bengals performance versus the Broncos tonight, ABC, C, D, or F. I personally think it’s an F, but it’s a democracy here on Bengals breakdown. I don’t think that’s going to hinder him from being able to run the football. Chase Brown, you know, the running game was a little bit better tonight. I do want to say that, especially on that first, second drive of the game. The Bengals were actually able to move the ball a little bit, but you know, once you got so far down in this game, you had to just throw the hell out of the ball. You know, Chase Brown had 10 carries for 40 yards in this game, no touchdowns, but still Samaj P Ryan had one carry for four yards. I don’t think a thumb injury is something that show, especially when, you know, you avoided a bigger injury is what they said it was. Anyways, he really wasn’t on the injury report all week long. You’ve got to be able to change something up for the Bengals to be able to consistently run the football. You put Jaylen Rivers out there, he helped a little bit in the run game, but just overall the Bengals offensive line is just just not good at all. So, um you know, we asked for it. We wanted to see some more Sam P R even Taj Brooks somebody. You’ve got to be able to change something else or something up. If you keep doing the same thing over and over and over again and you are getting the same result, what does that mean? It means you’re crazy. I I don’t know what the saying is. It means you’re crazy. I don’t know what the Bengals are doing here. Whether it’s a JP, Ryan, Taj Brooks, or anybody else making a trade, going out and signing somebody in free agency, I don’t know what it is, but uh the Bengals got to change something up because they still cannot run the football. Takeaway number three, I’ve kind of been defending Al Golden for the past couple of weeks because I think the defense has played better um you know in the past couple of weeks than they were last year, but that’s really not saying much at the end of the day. The Bengals in this game today, if I’m not mistaken, I think they gave up over 500. Yeah, 512 yards of total offense for the Broncos today, 326 yards passing. It was just just a terrible performance by this Bengals defense. And at the end of the game, they just flat out gave up. You saw guys just jogging out there. Um they they were, you know, arm tackling, just letting guys run through them. It was bad. It was bad overall. And I I just don’t understand this continuous lack of trying to change anything up. You know, they made a big point tonight talking about the Bengals lack of actually dialing up any types of blitzes, lack of dialing up any type of pressure. When all you have is Trey Hendrickson, he didn’t do anything tonight either. Uh what else are you going to do? Your your linebackers can’t cover anybody either. is this Bengals defense is is just not very good. And I don’t think Al Golden’s fixing it. I think um you know just the evaluation of players, which we’ll get to here in just a second, is really the big key factor of why this Bengals team can just not get better on defense. So the Bengals are two and two now. Joe Burrow is going to be out until December. You have Jake Browning at quarterback. I want to hear from you guys. Is the season over? Maybe you’re a little bit more positive than me about this, but I’m not seeing a very very uh bright future for this Bengals team. Um they just flat out cannot evaluate talent. I I just don’t know anywhere any way else to say it. Um, how many top 100 picks have you just absolutely wasted over the past couple years? Just a couple names to throw out. Germaine Burton, he was another healthy scratch today. He didn’t play. Also, he missed or not missed, he was late for a practice this week. Um, so still something on him there. Um, McKinley Jackson, another top 100 pick. He was a healthy scratch today. Uh, Chris Jenkins Jr., he’s kind of hit and miss sometimes. Cam Taylor, Brit getting absolutely cooked all day long. Um, I’m sure there’s some more guys that I’m missing here that I’m just like kind of overlooking right now. They just can’t evaluate talent. And you know, there were some people in the chat that were like, “Okay, you know, you you know, scratch this year, whatever, up to a loss, go build through the draft.” You can’t build through the draft if you are just missing on players constantly. And, you know, that’s really on Duke Tobin a lot. Zack Taylor, too. Zack Taylor just cannot win a football game if Joe Burrow is not at quarterback. Just flat out cannot do it. You know how many coaches can win games with Joe Burrow at quarterback? I would say most of them in the NFL. So, um, at this point, I’m with you guys. Get rid of Zack Taylor. Get rid of Duke Tobin. Number five takeaway from this game today. Bengals fans deserve better than what they are getting. And you know, I I know I’m saying fire Zack Taylor, fire Z Duke Tobin, but I cannot imagine that the this Bengals ownership actually cares enough to actually make a change. I just genuinely can’t. Um, you know, you had 16 years under Marvin Lewis. You super mediocre throughout those 16 years. I think you went to the playoffs only six times in those 16 years. And they’re going to jack up those those first two years under Zack Taylor as L’s. the first year, you know, you didn’t have Joe Burrow the second year. Um, you know, you had Joe Burrow as a rookie. He ended up tearing his ACL. You go to the playoffs the next couple of years and then, you know, but when you’re when you don’t have Joe Burrow, you don’t go to the playoffs. And let’s be completely honest with ourselves. Joe Burrow and Jamar Chase were the easiest evaluations in the NFL draft. Anybody could have hit on those two picks. So, um, I’m with you Bengals fans. You deserve better than what you’re getting right now from this Bengals franchise. From the very top all the way down to the very bottom, you deserve more. And I’m sorry. This this absolutely sucks to go out there and just continue to see performances like this. Was it any better than ne than last week? Sure, you didn’t have a bunch of turnovers this week, but still uh the offense couldn’t do anything. And the one turnover that you had in this game chocked up to be nothing because you went three and out on that same drive. So, um, hopefully they can write the ship, turn some things around, but unfortunately, I just don’t really see that happening. And even if you’re able to get Joe Burrow back in late December, I don’t really see this Bengals team being in um, you know, a spot where they could make the playoffs at that point. And at that point, if you’re not in the playoff contention, you’re not even going to bring Joe Burrow back. So, uh, definitely does suck. This was an abysmal performance overall by this Bengals team. And you know, we’ll see if they can turn it around. Right now, they’re 2 and2 still. Technically, they have some daylight in front of them, but I I just don’t really see it. You have the Lions next, you have Green Bay after that. I don’t see those games going in your favor either. [Music]
