The NHL has telegraphed this for months and months and years and years. Injure your opponent, break their bones, scramble their eggs, shorten their careers, and the punishment as a result will be worth it. We’re not in a spot in the NHL and in greater society, but I’ll leave that for another time, where consequences matter. We’re just not there. So, when my team goes out there, and when your favorite team goes out there, someone’s got to be the glove and someone’s got to be the bag. You might as well be the glove. I hope my team is the one going out there injuring their opponents, shortening their careers, because what is the consequence?

  1. Be thankful that the attempted concussion was only in the preseason. Surely if a starting goaltender was blatantly concussed in game 1 of a QF between two top contenders, then everything would change. Right?

  2. When Bennet got the Conn Smythe last year it felt like the biggest endorsement for violence without consequence. From a hockey play only prospective, other players like Marchand made a larger impact to Florida’s cup run. Giving the MVP to the person whose game was to injured players in every series told me the NHL doesn’t care about player safety at all.

  3. It needs to be more than suspensions, definitely more than irrelevant fines. 2.1k is 30 seconds of a match, played or not, for a 5mil player. Suspensions means way more money, but then, they're millionaires and they could just send their useless min salary goon for the one hit. Ultimately, there needs to be a real review process based on intentionality and real punishment on the org. The oaf didn't decide on his own to target the perfect player.

  11. You know how you shorten your career in a really quick way. Not cracking an NHL line up. What he should have said Is there diminishing their physical and mental capabilities.

  13. Every time the NHL tries to regulate the physicality of the game, we lose it. I'd rather see this than no one touching eachother. Like the stretch of friendship games from 2012 to 2022.

  15. two big problems with the NHL right now: refereeing is a joke, and punishments for breaking the rules are a joke.
    the game shouldn't have different rules cause certain teams are on the ice.

  18. I hope all 31 other teams watched the Panthers enough to know, that you don’t have to injure all your opponents to win. You have to injure the Panthers, and play hockey against the rest of the teams. Hopefully everyone paid attention and everyone else headhunts the Panthers org all 82 games, and if they somehow make the playoffs it’s an AHL squad with no stars left in the lineup. If the NHL won’t give Florida consequences, give it to them yourself.

  20. Of course this comes from a Leafs fan… 😂😂😂 Hockey is a physical sport. People want to take away hits without realizing that the reason people watch hockey is not for balerinas but for big tough guys going at each other and being sublimely great at moving at fast speeds. Calling for injuries is stupid. Its an idiotic take. I do agree with him about fines not mattering. Suspensions of gameS without pay should be the norm. But to take the physicality from hockey is to take away its soul. Leafs fans just cant get over the fact that they have a bunch of balerinas on their team. Hahahahaa

  22. You clearly weren't watching the game If you think that punch from Greer just fell out of the sky. Also incase you missed it Lundell got injured my a dirty hit from Tampa so I think you should have that in you short as well. Beatings were going both ways.

    You keep saying "hardness" and "toughness" to mock other sports such as non contact like Tennis or controlled one such as field hockey and association football as "weakass lady sports"

    It's a CONTACT sport, if you don't enjoy watching BONE CRUSHING hits being made, you might find competitive swimming a little more feasible for your 'preferences'

  29. Hilarious how Toronto fans in shambles by Panthers dominating them say NOTHIN about dirty hit to Lundell hurtin him or TB attacking Forsling all game.

    Blackhawks fan of 40yrs, but it’s obvious to anyone objective whose team not dominated by FL last 3yrs.

    PS hockey is MUCH safer the last 10-20 years than it was the first 80s of NHL. There used to be multiple enforcers on every team! I’ve loved every era of hockey, but ppl acting like Florida is anymore dirty than nearly every great team ever is DELUSIONAL.

The sad part is nothing will change because there's enough people willing to go to bat for the league and the officials that do nothing to stop players getting hurt, either because they're not mature enough to understand the world around them or they just want free tickets from NHL Senpai. They could see someone get Bertuzzi'd and find some way to defend it happening.

    So depressing that some of these people even raise kids too. Great example they're giving for those children right there.
