Anthony Stolarz | Post Game vs Detroit Red Wings | October 2, 2025

could be busier than you thought you might be. What did you think of your performance today? Uh, I thought it was good. I thought it was uh calm in the net. Um, was seeing the puck uh very well. Thought the guys did a great job in front of me and uh moving guys out and anything that was kind of left there um you know, they were uh they were able to whack away. So, I think for me it was just kind of uh getting a full 60 minutes and um just looking you know, cool and collected uh in the net there. to your point, it really did look like they were jumping in whenever there was any kind of miss opportunity there and giving up shots is one thing to help you out probably a huge difference for you. Uh, absolutely. And uh, you know, I keep harping on this, but our our decor uh, you know, we’ve got uh, you know, six, seven, eight guys that are that are willing to get in the dirty areas and um, eat pucks and and take the body. So, uh, you know, that’s what uh, that’s what we’re going to need here down uh, down start the regular season and uh, down the stretch. From your perspective, what does group need to clean up before Wednesday? What do you think? Um I think it’s just uh probably the intensity a little bit. I think um you know, we just got to get pucks in. Um, you know, I know they’re preseason games and you’re kind of you got the feeling out process, but um, you know, we got uh what, less than a week here till till opening night and I think that uh, you know, Chief has has the bar set pretty high for us and um, you know, I think we’re falling just short of that right now, but um, you know, we got one more game, a couple more practices to go. So, I imagine uh, you know, coming up guys are going to start getting a little more intense out there. Uh, you know, especially once we start trimming down the numbers and uh, you know, figuring out the uh, the squad here. What do you think of the penalty kill tonight? especially you guys that have been working in the last couple of years. I thought it was outstanding. Um, you know, for me, they they made my job easy. Uh, let me see pucks, let me see, uh, you know, one-times and taking away lanes and kind of, uh, not allowing them to to get clean looks. So, um, you know, kudos to them. You know, we had a couple big block shots. Uh, you know, loss there up in uh, you know, the top of the uh, the top of the diamond. So, that’s what you’re going to need. It’s that um that dedication, that um, you know, sacrifice that that wins you games. Does it say more that the block shots are coming during a preseason game more or less than a regular season one maybe? Uh I mean I just think that’s kind of uh that’s our game now. I think that you know it’s expected of us and um you know if we want to have success that we’re going to have to to sacrifice the body and um you know be willing to eat pucks and um you know as a goalie I’m extremely grateful for it. It makes my job a lot easier and uh you know anytime that a puck gets through I just do my best to you know find it, fight it through traffic and uh just try to corral it. Do you have a number of starts in mind that would be like okay if I hit this number that’s a good season for me? Um not really. I think for me it’s just going out there and playing just taking it day by day and um you know just enjoying the uh the entire process. I mean uh you know for me it’s uh you know I expected to I expect to be leaned on uh you know quite a bit here. So, um, you know, for me, I’m just preparing each and every day and and taking it all in. Um, you know, you don’t want to look ahead. You just want to take it, uh, you know, take it day by day and, you know, not overlook anything because I mean, at the end of the day, uh, it’s a long season and every point matters.
