You know, we’re more interested in letters than we are numbers. The one letter we’re interested is the W. Kansas City, they’re the it team of the National Football League. Super Bowl five of the last six seasons. All the buzz around the celebrity feel of the Chiefs. But Chris, a little reality, 0 and2 start for the first time in a decade. What’s the issue? Their wide receivers are out. They’ve been playing good teams, but simply it hasn’t looked like the Kansas City Chiefs on offense yet. And there are no excuses. They cannot lose to the New York Giants tonight. [Applause] [Music] [Applause] You just literally sit and just breathe. [Music] What happens between your ears is ultimately the most important thing. I do 10 12 breaths and like 11 12 breath my think my my wife and kids [Music] it’s like okay damn like when I open my eyes it’s like I’m on the football field that’s what I love to do but I’m I’m doing it for a different reason so it’s more just keep me present keep me understand you know what’s really that’s like not what’s at stake but like what’s really important you know even the Bible says you um be transformed by the removal of the mind and having the access to who we have as humans to be able to you know not just listen but also talk to ourselves. Sometimes we as as as people can say good things or say positive things to someone else but we very harsh to ourselves. [Music] Taking that time to meditate if I’m sitting here I’m like hey look you know you human. You’re love things like that. Um and then you also instill confidence too like hey like you know I’m the best one out here. things like like whatever you want to you know say to yourself I always say I always finish with grace you know u grace and um appreciation I think that’s the main thing but having that as the the anchor of my you know where my mental space is it kind of weaves out um a lot of the outside noise but at the end of the day like you said that’s still outside noise it doesn’t really matter unless I let it affect me you know Everybody knows like the game is chaos from you making checks, from calls, from screams, from making plays, need the crowd yelling. There’s just a lot that goes on the football game. [Music] You go through life, you have all these experiences, you have all these things that happen your day-to-day life. Um, but how much do you really just sit, you know, with yourself, you know what I’m saying? Like you got to be your own best friend. If I don’t sit myself and and tell myself positive things, how expect me to be a positive person, you know what I’m saying? And then I also realized too like how that how I handle that is how I affect now like my marriage, my relationship with my lady, relationship with my kids, you know what I’m saying? Even relationship with my my in-laws and my mom and my friends back home. like the impact I have is about being able to to harness that that presence and harness that uh that ability to, you know, just be in a moment as much as I can and be appreciative of where you at. I don’t think there’s nothing you can you can’t accomplish with your mind. I feel like meditation is probably the major thing for that other than obviously praying and reading. But the quiet time, man, for any human being in this earth, you need it. You definitely need it. All right, we’re getting ready for the coin toss as the Chiefs taking on the New York Giants on Sunday Night Football. Stability in the NFL is often far-fetched and hardly sought after. And that I think is something that most NFL teams struggle to deal with. Okay, we won this way two years ago. Why is it not working now? [Music] the ingame adjustments and the bobbing and weaving for what they’re doing, what we need to do, uh, is is part of something that I really enjoy. Two receivers to the near side. They motion to the left slot. Slate and Russell Wilson’s going deep middle right into the teeth of the defense. Intercepted Christian Roland Wallace. The first takeaway of the year by Kansas City at midfield. And Roland Wallace is forced out of bounds. We’ve got guys that have been around each other long enough that even they know what some of the changes we should make based on what the opponent’s doing. So, it’s nice to have that kind of experience. Good job, Chief’s trying to bring pressure on Russ Wilson. He hangs on. He’s going for neighbors in the end zone. It’s going to be intercepted. Intercepted by Jaylen Watson. This one is gigantic, preluding a Giant score. I’m talking everything you did when I saw you became the receiver. That’s right. You used to be a receiver. Okay. All right. You, too. Okay. Scatter trying to get to the outside being chased by Tranquil and then torpedoed by Brian Cook. Doesn’t matter what the rankings are or I just I just we always just set out the standard of we want to play this kind of football at this standard. Second down and long. Wilson back in there. Pump faking. Won’t escape this time. Chris Jones fights through and sacks him back at the 44 yd line. And if we do that, we feel confident that the results will take care of themselves. To win, need everybody sort of in step with what the plan is when the plan changes. Seven to go. Mahome protected. Lofting it. Thornton. And bring it in. Sliding to the goal line for the touchdown. Let’s take a look. Oh, I think that’s going to be called incomplete there. Chaser six of 11 on third down. None bigger than this one. Up 16 to9. 655 to go in the game. [Music] Momes putting it up for grabs again for Thornton. That time he reached around his body and it catches. A lot of times you’re going to need somebody to have a moment or two where it’s like, “Oh yeah, that’s why he’s on the team.” And the one for two to get good. 16-9 Kansas City. First down and goal to go at the Giant oneyd line. Hand off. Kareem Hunt slams into the defender but keeps his three. Legs driving. Driving, driving. Touchdown, Kansas City. Good job. That is good, bro. Keep going, bro. Hell of a game, bro. Life is a lot of lessons, bro. Five times, bro. Week three. One more snap. The two teams coming out to midfield to shake hands. Yeah, bro. after we won. Uh, the Chiefs have won this game. Final score, Kansas City 22, the New York Giants nine. Taekquin, a career game for you. How were you able to step up in the absence of two receivers? I mean, just practice, man. We work at it at practice. Um, we work hard and just a blessing to be out here. And does does 15 make it a little easier? Yeah, they make it a whole lot easier. Taekquin Thornton with back-to-back receiving touchdowns for the first time in his career. I cannot say enough how important I think he is to this team. A guy that we can talk about, a guy that can help them win football games. Taquan Thornton was a second rounder with the New England Patriots. After no gain on second down, it’s caught by Thton and has a seam. Then inside the 40, it’s a foot race. No chance. Touchdown Baylor. You know, when he was at Baylor, he had a multitude of impressive highlights where you could see the speed, you could see him change direction and really make it difficult for defenders. Being from Florida, going to Texas away from home, but they just welcomed me in. All my teammates, coaching staff, you know, some of my classmates even, it was a great experience. I loved it. Looking back, it might have been a little bit interesting to see that the New England Patriots were the team that took the chance on Taekquin Thornton. New England, my time there, man, we worked, we worked hard the Patriot way. We got out there every day. Had a little glimpses of like, you know, showing that I had little skills. Jones swing pass caught. Touchdown. It is the rookie. Patriots are on the board. But I was never able to just put it all together at one time. So like I was just a process there just really working at it. For one reason or another, it just didn’t work out in New England. And this was a guy that was looking for a job and Andy Reid had a conversation with Bill Bich. They liked Thornton. They felt like a change of scenery would do him good. Coming from New England and walking inside this locker room and seeing the guys, it’s like you could feel the energy. I think just being in the building for that playoff run changed his mentality, changed where he was in his career, put him in a position to compete for a roster spot in training camp. I was kind of excited just to get back out there and, you know what I’m saying, just craft. That’s all it’s about. Just crafting each and every day. going out there and working with your teammates. It was around that second week, I believe, where you start to put the pads on where it’s like, okay, we’re getting to a level of physicality. There was one play and it was a corner route in the back corner of the end zone. Patrick throws it in the absolute perfect spot for Taekquin to elevate, catch the ball, and then the question becomes, can you get your feet in bounds? [Music] when he makes the catch and I just thought, “Oh, well, if he does that, then he’s making the team.” By the end of camp, what was surprising to us and probably even a lot of fans was he was a no doubter. When I made it, I was like, “Okay, you made the 53man roster, but now like what’s next?” You know what I’m saying? I want to be the best version of myself so I can help the team win. That was really my goal. No one can predict how a season’s going to go. I can’t imagine anyone saying, “Well, your fastest receiver’s going to get hurt on the first passing play of the season. Now what?” Xavier Worthy’s asking for medical attention, guys. He’s pointing towards his right shoulder. That’s a huge blow to the Chiefs offense. Had long chats with the trainers, very visibly upset and walking now very slowly towards the Chiefs locker room. And I think the Chiefs probably were turned to each other and say, “How is this happening again? How are we short receivers and this many receivers again?” The Chiefs needed uh someone to rise when the opportunity presented itself and Taekquin Thornton raised his hand and answered the question every time. That made me want to raise my bar even higher, just keep my head down and just keep on working and like just want to be the best version of myself. [Applause] [Music] The Ravens have been a very, very unique team this year in that they’re scoring a lot of points and they’re giving up a lot of points. When you think about this version of the Chiefs, you start to ask yourself, could they compete in what could be a shootout? Gigantic game. Two one and two teams who need this one. And now Jackson pump faking and he’s going to be hit and draw up the sack. Snap back to Jackson. She’s shown a blitz. Jackson being harassed. Gets rid of the football right side and it’s going to be intercepted. Intercepted by Leo Chanel at the 15 yd line. Leo Chanel gets his first career interception. Yeah, Leo. How about no athlete conversation anymore? Listen to the athlete. Leo, great job, brother. Unbelievable play. Outstanding catch, man. Outstanding catch. The faster you get victories, the faster you can get back to trying to be the team that you thought you would be before the season began. This is sort of one of those games that could swing the season in your favor. Especially if the offense can just get into a groove. How good is it to have Xavier Worthy back? It’s a 37 yd over the shoulder catch. As they load the left side, Mahomes goes left, drives [Applause] down more, more. When they line up, do you know exactly who’s running which route? Now after a long count, rolling left side, dumps it. PC got up the five, angling it near side. Touchdown Kansas City is down. Let it roll, baby. And the Kansas City Chiefs with 20 unanswered points. Now Mahomes has a lot more options. Mahomes feet staggered. takes the snap between the one and the five down the rails to the end zone. Taquan Thornton. They, you know, bring that energy, that juice, and, you know, they’re all just, they’re really just big kids. I was waiting out, oh yeah, Worthy’s in the back field. They’re going to roll to the right side and Emma Mahomes throws for the end zone caught. Touchdown, Maris Brown, Hollywood. This truly does feel like a family, like you’re, you know, building something special. I see that. I see that. Turn around. You look Kansas City gets to 2 and2 with a 37-20 victory over the Baltimore Ravens. [Music] Good job, fellas. Woo! [Applause] How about those? Hey, great job, baby. All three phases, man.
