Vikings Sign OT Matt Waletzko to the Practice Squad

[Music] What’s going on, Jeromes? Minnesota Fighting Vikings head coach Kevin Okconor alluded to that the Vikings could be adding some depth along the offensive line. Now, I don’t think they do anything blockbuster wise because knocking all out the wood. Come around week seven or eight after the buy of Vikings offensive line, the starters could finally be together, which would be good. Uh, but some depth was signed today. Vikings. The Vikings have signed tackle Matt. Well, let’s go. Go. Oh, let’s go to the practice squad and release wide receiver Tim Jones from the practice squad. Let’s take a moment for Max Bromer. The Max Bromer Tim Jones connection. Although Tim Jones will be back on the practice squad in like two seconds. That’s what happens. And Matt Wletko. First off, you look at the picture. Who do you see? I see baby Jared Allen. Like, so WLCO is 25. So Jiren Allen was still at Idaho State, I want to say. Yeah, cuz he was drafted in ‘ 04, trade to the Vikings in ’08. So I don’t know. Is this like a lost sibling situation or Ooh. Ooh. Is this uh like in Logan where Wolverine was cloned? Weapon X. Is that is that the situation we have going on here? I don’t know. I don’t know. But Matt, well, let’s go. 25 years young, 68. Uh well, should we say 305? It it would make sense for the Vikings sign a 205 pound offensive lineman, but 68305 the pride of Cold Spring, Minnesota, which is in central Minnesota, northwest of the cities. Hashtag one of us 2022 fifth round pick uh from North Dakota. Go oh go Fighting Hawks. Is that what they are this month? Anyways, do it for Jimmy Klein Sasser. Do it for Jimmy K. Uh played 20 offensive snaps in career. Um you know, 30 uh snaps on special teams. basically hasn’t quite worked out because he’s had a lot of medical issues and I know the Vikings have had a myriad of injuries along the offensive line and you sign a offensive lineman who’s had a bunch of injury issues. So he tore his ACL sophomore year in college and then he had a shoulder sub subligation shoulder issue uh and then that’s also cropped up over the last couple years when he’s been with the Cowboys mainly on injured reserve. Uh they finally waved him and now the Vikings pick him up and well let’s go. So, he is a physical freak, you know, 6’8. Uh, so he was 67 and 58 and just tested out of the gy gym. Uh, great 40, great short shuttle, great agility, all that stuff. 9.96 ra which is good. Lance zerland.com his draft profile uh round projection uh 67 overview skyscraping FCS tackle with tremendous length, but there are too many holes in the physical profile to project NFL success at this stage. Wletkco’s length and upper body power are traits that teams will want to cultivate, but his pad level issues and average foot quickness are limitations that could be difficult to work around. The run blocking should improve with more experience, which obviously he hasn’t gotten yet. And coaching, but his h I don’t know, man. If you want good offensive line coach, he might here might not be the place. Uh, but his habit of leaning and pass protection reflects core strength concerns. All right. So just the idea of offensive lineman leaning in pass protection just gives me you know TJ Clemings and Drew Same Mia creeps if his pass posture isn’t fixed as a right tackle prospect power rushers will eat him up. So that’s good. Yeah. Uh so this always makes me feel good whenever the Vikings sign a free agent just you looking up lens NFL.com draft profile and it’s like oh hey this guy sucks. uh but is a warm body and as of right now that’s exactly what the Vikings need. Now WLCO has played a combination of I don’t know guard and tackle during his uh during during his brief tenure in the NFL but although he has played you know multiple spots uh in preseason as well but ideally Darasaw is going to be good to go. Jackson back week seven. Ryan Kelly probably be back after the buy week seven. Will Fry healthy as a horse. They got Brian O’Neal who sprained MCL. You could be back week seven, eight, nine, somewhere in there. So, as bad as this first quarter of the season has been, the silver lining is that most of these injuries are not impacting season long issues. So, the Vikings could have the band back together week seven. And honestly, that would be faking amazing, right? So, the first team offensive line together week seven. JJ McCarthy back behind the actual first team offensive line. Aaron Jones returns soon. Cashman gets back. Oh my goodness. Oh my goodness. CJ Ham could be back this as soon as this week. His window started. Let’s go. Let’s go, man. But uh in terms of you know signing, well, let’s go. Uh again, weapon X of Jared Allen. I situation. But depth is good and also upside is good as well. Even though we’re signing in Riddle guy because our offensive line is Andrew Riddle. It is what it is. At least he’s local. Let’s go. Uh, let your thoughts, our thoughts, let us know, Matt.
