Aaron Glenn Postgame Press Conference (9/29) | New York Jets at Miami Dolphins | Week 4
All right. On the injury front, I think we had two guys of note. Um, from Michael Carter, um, got to see what the situation is with him. Um, who was the other guy? We had Yeah, we had to see what, uh, his injury is um hopefully there are injuries where those guys can get back quick. You know hopefully we will find that out. Uh when it comes to the game today uh very disappointing um very disappointing and there’s no way way you can win any game with 13 penalties and three turnovers. It just can’t happen. Um but what we have to do is go back to work. You know we have to go that’s the only way that we can fix them. really take a look at these penalties, take a look at these turnovers, and make sure we understand that we have to understand before you can win games, you have to learn how not to lose games. And we have to do a better job in that case. Um, and we will. We will. And again, the only way to do that is go back to work. Um, and that’s what we got to do. That’s what we got to do. Any questions? Aaron, you you spoke. You guys seem to be on a even though it was a loss, you seem to come off of that Buccaneer game pretty high. You found a lot of things you fought to to respond like this. I mean, how disappointing is it? Very disappointing. Very. And to me, it was more or less the things that we know that you can’t do between games. We allowed that to happen. Um, I thought our guys play with effort. Listen, I thought our guys uh understood the the uh the ramifications of this game, but man, to go out there and have that many penalties and really pre- snap penalties and be and turn the ball over, I mean, that was so disappointing this game. Um listen, I’m not losing hope in our guys at all, you know, and I’m telling you now, we just got to go back to work. That’s all we can do. That’s all we can do. How how impactful was the Braille Island fumble after what would have been, you know, an outstanding drive there? Every um every turnover was impactful. Um obviously that was one that’s going to be magnified because it was right there I think uh uh at the six, something like that. Uh thought he was about to go in and score. Um but every turnover is impactful. I’m not about to just put it on that turnover. Um you cannot win this league when that happens. And I can continue saying that, you know, over and over, but um to have three of them and to have that many penalties, uh it’s tough. Why do the penalties, it sounds so silly, but like why do the penalties keep happening when it’s been a point of emphasis from you dating back to OTAAS? You know what? We got to figure that out. We got to figure it out. And that that’s that’s the part I’m saying that’s disappointing because man we go through through certain times where we go we do a hell of a job especially with the pre- snap penalties and then man we just we just revert back you know and listen I know that you can’t fix things in a couple of weeks and things like that but we have to be better than that and I know we can be better than that. How do you think Justin played at his return tonight? I need to look at the tape. You know I I thought he did some really good things. I mean, obviously he was running around out there and made some plays with his feet. I thought he um towards the end that game, man, he was dealing the ball pretty well. Um but I really wanted to look at look at the tape and look at the decisions and things like that to see exactly um how he operated. But to me, just from the naked eye, looked pretty good. What was uh what was your message to Isaiah Williams? I mean, he had the fumble and the fair catch at the two. You know, just understand exactly where he’s at. And listen, you’re right there at the 10. You know, you can’t back up. when you start to back up, you know that, you know, the ball going to be at that 10 yard we use in that situation. So, um, those situations, we just got to be smarter. We have to be smart. We can’t allow that to put us in a situation where we got our offense back up because now it’s a field position game and we can’t allow that to happen to us. Obviously, teams are going to devote more coverage to Garrett because of who he is, but really was a non-factor for about three and a half quarters. Should aren’t there ways to get him the ball to scheme and ways to try to get him more touches? Well, if you take a look at how the game was going, we were running the ball really, really well. Um, so the thing is we don’t want to force the ball in those situations. We felt like we had an advantage when we was running the ball and I think you guys saw that early in the game, you know. So, why go away from what’s working to try to force the ball to somebody? I think that’s ridiculous to do. On um there was a fourth and 10 in the fourth quarter, Aaron, with about sevenish minutes left where you guys chose to punt the ball. Yeah. Miami ended up getting back into field goal range at about three and a half minutes off the clock. Was there any consideration to going for it there? And if so, why didn’t you? You know what? I think it’s tough in that situation when you look at how the game is going um the way we went offensively. I mean, we had some tough outings um in those long distance. So, man, I want to give ourselves the best chance to go out there and win. Obviously, defensively, we wasn’t doing as good or stopping them. So, um I felt like that was the best option at that time. Um that was it. Aaron, you you’ve got some you got some guys in that locker room who’ve been through some losing seasons for the Jets. How How do you avoid a wo is me, here we go again type of malaise coming over this team? Well, listen, this is a game where um man, you’re being evaluated on a daily basis and I think those guys know that this is this is a totally different deal as far as being war with me and that you can always put yourself in position to win the game. And I thought we almost did it again today. All right. And I think there’s hope in that. You know, for the most part, we’re just not doing the things that we have to do to finish games. But I don’t think we have those type of guys. I I really don’t. Um and I’m going to do everything I can in my power to make sure we don’t have that. And I don’t think we will. I really don’t. So, um those guys know we got to go back to work. I know we have to go back to work. The coaches know we have to go back to work. And collectively as a group, man, we have to make sure we just block out all the outside noise and do the things we got to do to go wing game. You knew when you took this job that it wasn’t going to be all smooth sailing. Absolutely. Is it more challenging than you thought? Um, I don’t want to say that. I mean, listen, being a head coach of NFL team is always challenging. I don’t care if you’re, you know, if you if you’re winning because they’re always gunning for you, you’re losing because you’re trying to get things turned around. Um, but yeah, I do I do know that. But I will tell you that what God that what makes it so um so intriguing for me to be able to try to get us to understand exactly how we got to win games to get this thing turned and listen my confidence is not going to Wayne not one bit. Um we’re not going to wave on the things that we’ve been talking about how we got to how we got to win games. We just got to do a better job of doing those things. So um yes it was going to be tough. I understand that and um and we gonna continue to work to get this thing turned. Last one on he was ruled out very quickly within the injury. Yeah. Was there any indication from the doctors that that could be a serious injury? You know what at that point man the doctor said listen he’s going to be out you know and I didn’t want to hear and we can’t know what the situation is at that point and I have to make sure I I keep myself focused on what’s going on in the game. So, um, it looked like it was pretty bad, but I don’t want to say that until we get a chance to know. So, um, hopefully he’ll be all right. Thanks everyone. The room’s open. You guys can go through that door if you want.

Probably better off letting Taylor run the offence because he can at least throw the ball downfield accurately. Fields is a gadget you can use. Having a running game like the Jets have is a good start.
šš
Uncle Ben's-level entertainment
At least Glenn is dropping the phony tough guy act. Too many penalties? Isn't that something you address in the preseason and practices? It looks like the team isn't taking this guy seriously. Is there a reason that this organization won't hire a head coach with experience? That's part of the problem.
AG better take over the Defensive responsibilities cuz our DC is incompetent and just clearly sucks!
Do these guys practice during the week?
Aaron Glenn should have been patient for a different job. Stick with the Lions, keep winning, wait for a franchise that has far better support. Jets are where coaches go to die and get humiliated.
You canāt fucking coach šš how Detroit defense look better this year than the last 2 years š
I said we would win 3 games this year …..now I'm wondering who the hell are we gonna beat …..Miami was one of the worst teams in football and they beat us
damn bro you can't lose to the dolphins what in the hell is going on with these jets
week after week Glenn talks about the mistakes yet they are repeated so idk what else he can do at this point.
Get this bum outta here!!!!
Same crap from Glenn. We have to go back to work, bla bla bla.
Lmao and all you jets fans said Aaron rodgers suck!!! but for real its your whole entire organization!!! hahaha trash!!
Fire Glenn! Bench Fields, Trade Gardner. They are all frauds! team looks worse then last year. they are the biggest joke in the nfl
same dumb comments by the head coach. You are the head coach and dont have this team ready.
"Those situations… we have to be smart… have to be smart"
You can't teach smart. STUPID IS AS STUPID DOES. The Jets MUST stop adding stupid players to the roster!
Saleh also came in rip roaring, ready to go. Didn't take long for Saleh to have AG's defeated sideline look, either.
This dude needs to be fired ASAP
We are some shxt. š©. Tank and go tf home.
Lions fan here. I really hope Glenn turns it around. I can respect that he, unlike Ben, didnāt take a coaching job within the division. I really hope the Jets turn it around this season.
No way im a season ticket holder of this bs. Crazy how I spend all day everyday supporting this sorry azz team.
The fair catch at the 3 yard line was inexcusable
This Press Conference reminds me of Rich Kotiteās Press Conferences, the central theme was always š we gotta work harder! Week after week! I really hope AG can turn this around, we got to give him some time.
And why the hell did we hire a coordinator? Woody wake the hell up
As a lifelong Jets fan Iām taking a different look at this. What Aaron Glenn is trying to achieve will take time if it will ever flourish. Our teams problems are deeply rooted. The talks of a curse to something as simple as awful organization management. We have no winning culture. It stems partly from the fans as well. I understand the pain trust me. But at some point you guys realize this is normal for us. So itās not really a big deal in the grand scheme. The only way is up from here. If Aaron Glenn could build something itās going to take time to instill the winning culture mindset. We first like he says, have to learn how to not lose these games. If the refs are hounding you with flags, the game needs to turn extra tight so they can focus on the other. Stop giving them excuses to call everything. But again, this is nothing new. Refs have more than likely a bias against us because we have been a badly disciplined team for quite a while now. Keep working guys. Aaron Glenn is a Jet. It will take some time. Just be patient.
We look like the worst team in NFLš® history
Hang in there Jets fans. It usually gets worse b4 it gets better turning a team around.
āi need to look at the tapeā āwe gotta get back to workā āwe gotta be disciplinedā has been said in every post game presser so far and i donāt like it if the words mean nothing.
This is slowly becoming Rich Kotite all over againā¦or Dennis Greenā¦I wouldnāt be surprised if he has a tantrum after a few weeks more.
He's a couple weeks from losing that job ššš
All losing coaches say the same crap every press conference… Also losing players say the same rhetoric š¤·
Call your own defense AG. Wilkes ain't it.
Lions fan here and I'm just checking in on our guy Glenn. I know it's been painful, take it from a lions fan. Just hang in there because it feels so great when it does turn around and I really think you guys got the right coach.
Tank for Mendoza calling it now stamp it
Lions are so much Better without Glenn…! Thank you for taking him off our hands… We lead NFL in sacks without him. !
Shame on you Jets!!! Worst Franchise in the NFL!!!
Good luck Glenn. You got ur work cut out for you. You inherited an undisciplined team
For Jets fans who are worried the team will never turn it around:
Dan Campbell started 0-10-1 with the Lions before winning his first game
The Jets will win a few games this season, but the sooner they win a game, the easier it will be for Aaron Glenn to get the team to buy in with the rebuild.
"Before you can win games, you have to learn how not to lose games." -AG
Enough with the clown talk already.
